Ticalc publishes 2011 POTY results
« on: December 29, 2011, 10:24:39 pm »
The results for Ticalc.org's annual program of the year competition has been posted a few minutes ago. They are available here!

This year, while there were fewer TI-83 Plus and 68K programs than last year, saw many features on ticalc.org. Also, in the 83+ category, the competition was pretty strong compared to last year. The winners for each category are:

TI-80 - TI-80 Emulator (Randy Compton)
TI-83+ series - Gossamer (KermMartian)
68K - Myst 89 (Stefan Bauwens)
TI-Nspire - nPlayer (apcalc)
Computer - globalCALCnet (gCn) Client (KermMartian)

Special mention to KermMartian for having won two POTY awards in one year, which is well-deserved considering the innovation of both awarded tools bringing Internet and online gaming to a calculator, to Stefan Bauwens, for the first TI-BASIC program to ever win a POTY and to Randy, for the first ever TI-80 POTY. Also congrats to Builderboy for getting close to a tie with the TI-83+ winner, Apcalc for getting Omnimaga team a 2nd POTY win and of course everyone else who worked hard on their entry and managed to make it to ticalc.org headlines!

Congrats to everyone! Also I was amazed that Myst won, because normally BASIC games tend to not receive as many votes in POTY surveys.

This is also the first BASIC game to win a POTY ever too O.O

2012 will be the year of great Lua programs :)

I don't know... With Ndless coming to a final stage, I think people will be using more and more C.

Actually, all the programs I voted for won, expect that I didn't vote for the TI-80 emulator, and I voted for Luna instead of voting for Calcnet. I thought Kerm would get his Calcnet POTY via 84+ programs and Luna was what allowed me to make Lua games for the Nspire on Linux.

Either way, congratulations to all the winners, we had a great year!
