As of yesterday, the limit for the number of private messages you can hold has been removed, effectively allowing unlimited PM storage.
Please be aware, however, that members still need at least 5 posts to send PMs and also need 20 or more posts to be able to store more than five PMs.
(This was made possible when we switched our hosting provider -- there was a 100 megabyte limit with our previous provider, 1and1)

Well at least my inbox no longer says 260% full. {AP} should probably be happy as well since I used to PM him a lot.
-
This is great, I sometimes tried PM'ing people and it wouldn't work.
However, if we need space I think unlimited storing should only be allowed to members >x posts.
But it seems that for now we don't have space problems ;D
-
well, if you have, you can try to archive and delete stuff ;)
but since i don't pm that much, i suppose i will not be a problem ;D, but it would be great for admins and others ;)

Yes, > 1337 posts for sure! ;-) This is excellent news, really.

Wow, I've received 411 PMs as of writing this! O.o
But yeah, this is great news for anyone with a high PM count that had a limit before (I believe staff didn't). :)

Wow, this will really help me, I certainly need a lot of storage for my 2 PMs. :P
Seriously, though, I am sure this will come in handy for a lot of people! :)

well in the last month I've already gotten to 50% so I really do need this

If I remember, the limit used to be 250, then it got increased to 500, but I forgot to remove it after switching hosts. Although a lot of you probably didn't reach 500 yet, the limit was totally unnecessary now anyway.
By the way, to clarify, the 100 MB limit stated in this news was only on the MySQL database. 1and1 limits each MySQL databases to 100 MB. Diskspace-wise, we had 120 GB. Now we got 15 GB diskspace but the MySQL database can be as large as our diskspace allows.
Had Omnimaga remained on 1and1, we would have needed to split the forum in two databases when we reach 150000 posts or so. What this means is that the first 150000 posts would have become read-only and disassociated from member accounts.

good thing we changed then :)
yeah, having half of the posts read-only would've sucked x.x
-
Indeed, especially that there are plenty of good threads here. I could maybe just have made the entire content of the off-topic section read-only, though, then restarted a new one, but still, I even would like to see the old board restored one day, so...

Good change. I would not really like to have the old half (or halve?) of the forum read-only.
