Title: VVVVVV for the TI-84 Plus & upcoming Nspire port
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 03, 2014, 12:22:53 am
On January 11, 2010, Terry Cavanagh released VVVVVV (http://thelettervsixtim.es/), a game, inspired by C64 titles, that became revered for its incredible level design and difficulty. On February 21, 2013, pimathbrainiac (http://www.omnimaga.org/profile/pimathbrainiac/), a relatively new member to the forums at the time, released a screenshot (now broken) of his beginnings of a port. It has come a very long way since then. After some progress, the project eventually died off, like most other large projects do, but on December 1, 2013, a reboot (http://www.omnimaga.org/ti-z80-calculator-projects/vvvvvv/msg369475/#msg369475) came about. Since then, the project has progressed greatly. It has custom map support, Non-linear gameplay, and a ticalc feature (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/14/148/148561.html). He has recieved a lot of help along the way, including major help from members Keoni29 (http://www.omnimaga.org/profile/Keoni29), Matrefeytontias (http://www.omnimaga.org/profile/Matrefeytontias), and Hayleia (http://www.omnimaga.org/profile/Hayleia/)

A final release will be on its way before August. For progress please check the thread (http://www.omnimaga.org/ti-z80-calculator-projects/vvvvvv) regularly.

UPDATE: pimathbrainiac has started porting VVVVVV to the TI-Nspire too. Check for updates, screenshots and downloads at http://www.omnimaga.org/ti-nspire-projects/(ndless-3-6)-nvvvvvv/new/#new (http://www.omnimaga.org/ti-nspire-projects/(ndless-3-6)-nvvvvvv/new/#new)

I'm very disappointed :P

Anyways, thanks to DJ for the news, and expect a menu update soon, although maybe not this week.

I haven't tried the latest build yet, but I had a go at one of the previous versions. Unfortunately I still do not have an nspire.
So unless I can compile this on my router I won't be able to play it.

I wonder if the next version will feature more rooms by the way? I would have posted a screenshot of the Nspire version, but the current screenshots only shows 1 room and my Nspire Emu Ndless version is outdated.

It will, don't worry. I just need to get the engine down before I start with the rooms. Also I lost. :P
