It has been reported that a recent TI-83 Plus OS remake (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/433/43331.html) of Nick Disabato's popular ticalc.org running gag (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/news/articles/3/38/38229.html) might be a cure to TI-Connect linking problems that plagues people every now and then, especially with OS 2.55MP installed. After JosJuice replaced OS 2.55 MP with SirCmpwn's calculator OS version of the game (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/139/13909.html), TI-Connect started working perfectly again and this persisted after putting back a TI OS again:
[23:45:27] <+JosJuice> seems like WFRNG OS made TI Connect work again lol
Somehow, the TI community never stops amazing us.
-
Hahah, nice :P
Congrats to Juju, too. :D
-
Oh yeah. nothing can stop WFRNGOS.

For?
-
Woops, meant JosJuice x.x Sorry :-[
For getting TI-Connect to work.
-
Wait, why is this in brown? :P it's not a fake story!
-
As more technical details come in, we find that WRFNGOS handled USB by simply stalling the pipes. Once TI-connect realized the pipes where stalled, decided to clean them out and issue a good reset to the control and bulk pipes.
-
Based on this information, I could easily make a repair OS.
Also, WFRNGOS FTW.
-
Couldn't you just do it with an ASM app/prog?
-
Yes, but I don't think the OS would only handle those issues.
-
WFRNG OS did solve my problems... But attempting to send TI-OS to the calc ruined it again (although the transfer started very quickly, because of the help from WFRNG OS). That attempt was unsuccessful, and I had to go to school... without a calc OS D:
-
FFFFFFFFFFFFF - the game. And WFRNG OS ftw! XD
-
Is this fake or this real? Eitherway, go WFRNG!

It's real, actually.

Nice, a repair OS like Sir said would be cool.
-
The WFRNG OS fix is actually pretty pointless, because TI Connect needs to be working in order to send WFRNG OS :P
And the effect seems to wear off as soon as the next transfer finishes or stops...

Hm i remember something about brown text...
Wait i know! it means that its very important message!

lol, not even close. Else, April 1st news wouldn't turn brown on April 2nd. :P

lost the game, darnit
-
so this was a joke?
-
so this was a joke?
Yes, any news that has brown text is a joke.
-
Dangit, i was so happy. I had thought this was the best thing in the world.
I have to clear my ram every time i want to connect to my home pc.
I can't connect at all to my laptop
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

But WFRNG OS did actually solve my TI Connect problems D:
It's just very useless, because you need to have a working TI Connect in order to send it. You'll also need to send your normal OS back afterwards... When you do that, TI Connect returns to its glitchier state.

Which means it's probably the OS itself that's buggy. Either that, or WFRNG OS being smaller. who knows.
-
No, the glitchyness was there even when I had no OS installed.
-
That sucks D:, and lol happybobjr. Actually I should make a list of all Omni fake news at one point, since there's one for ticalc.org already. Sorry to hear about your TI-Connect problems, though. D:
-
I am over them. On my 6th reinstall of it, I decided to plug in my calc to do the driver instillation as ti-connect was installing. It worked :P
-
Ah, good to hear :D
I wish the same solutions worked for everyone. As for now, none seems to do. X.x
