Let the judging begin.

i'm already addicted to the psyche.. this game is great. i can't figure out what to do with HBJR's, and slide wouldn't work on wabbit (it's an outdated version btw, since recent versions don't support XP drag and drop of programs).
-
oh, crud i did it twice...
controls are math through x
you can only move a tle adjacent to the blank space... :p
My version (not posted) just uses arrow keys ;)

My reviews:
Psyche: Epic and one of the best stories I've seen in a calc game.
Graphics: 9/10 (It's slightly slow)
Playability: 9.9/10 (It might get boring on the hundredth try)
Story: 10/10
Fudge factor: Blue/10 (Lots of fudge)
Difficulty: 8/10 (Level 10 is pretty difficult, though)
Slide: I played this after Psyche, so I felt like the game was similar.
Graphics: 7.8/10 (Not as detailed and slightly slower than Psyche)
Playability: 9.9/10
Story: 4/10 (You can guess why)
Fudge factor: 37/10 (I'm feeling like a 37 today)
Difficulty: 6/10 (Too easy)
Puzzle: The intro graphics are kind of annoying. I couldn't figure out how to play this game, so I don't have much to say.
Graphics: 7/10 (Decent, but I would have liked a title screen)
Playability: N/A (I couldn't figure out how to play. I ended up pressing random buttons on the left column)
Story: 6/10 (Well, it had one)
Fudge factor: Netham45 is a Lobster
Difficulty: N/A

a fine match, fellows!
psyche was delicious because it was pretty all around (four level gray and nice graphic design, fun plot with fun wording, etc). i'm not really the sliding puzzle type, but this one had enough variety to make it fun and original. for those reasons, it is my choice.
-notes for the other fellows-
michael_lee:
it was a bit easy, and the graphics were a little messy, but i liked the smooth scrolling very much, and i was infinitely amused by the sprite change when the character is left motionless for a while XD
happybob:
fun-fun plot :P
i figured out the controls, but they were a little annoying. thtill, nice controls and picture-drawing skillage.
to everybloody:
what's with all the sliding puzzles?!
-
Too easy? X.X
Half of my classmates at school couldn't solve it, so I purposely tuned it down a little...
I guess I really underestimated you guys.
I don't have access to a computer right now -- I can't wait to try the entries!
-
Lol, seems like Michael and I were both inspired by Pokemon :P
Yeah, I hated the level designing part. (although I like level 10 and 11). I was really worried about the difficulty; whether you guys would find it too hard or easy, but seems like I managed to get it close enough. This is also why I included a level editor.

EXACTLY. I had so much fun on those particular pokemon caves.
-
OMG Psyche is awesome! Oh my god, when I saw that title screen I was already happy, when I played it even happier!
Slide was good, but I also didn't figure out how to play puzzle :S
-

Someone figgured out the conrols!
After i subbmitted i totally rewrote my code so that the controlls are just the arrow keys.
loading time is less than a 3rd of what it was.
Hint was removed because it wasn't helpful.
Empty block is now a filled "Gray" box.

I thought it was kind of like programming actually. You just pick a path to where you want to go and modify it as you move along.
-
Psyche:
*Sigh* much better then mine. I like the sliding blocks, too. They added an interesting gameplay element.
Happybobjr:
Controls are weird, but nice pic.

Hmm. Maybe programmers are better at these types of logic games?

i just managed to get slide to work (worked in doors but not as no-stub).
i liked it, but it was very similar psyche, but less challenging, though i did enjoy the scrolling. i give psyche my vote due to the lack of storyline on slide, but i think with a few improvements slide could be better than psyche with more time invested into it.
-
I've only played Psyche so far, but I love it.
The only problem I have is that the level editor freezes when I run it.
-
i didn`t even vote for myself :p
-
Oh my. Psyche is incredible. Wow. I love the extra blocks that move around - Nice touch! It's a wonderful game. :D
Slide is nice too, but it's a little lacking in the story department. ;D
Puzzle is cool, if you're into that kind of a game. :)
-

Yeah, I realized that today during school :x
I've fixed it; am I allowed to release? (Raylin)
If not, then to fix this temporarily, create an appvar that is 11*192+4 bytes large and fill it with zeros. Put 1337 into its first two bytes and 42 into the second. Then archive it; it will now show up on the level editor's list when you run it (and it won't freeze)
-
Release it; it's fine.
-
Thanks.
Slide: I really liked the tiles, especially how you made the cave walls look. Also, the scrolling was nice, something I was considering adding to psyche but didn't. I agree that it was a bit easy (finished it in about 10 minutes on wabbit :P) but that of course could have been fixed. I also noticed a weird bug where when sliding to the right, a black rectangle would flash on the left side of the screen :x Also, the custom font looked awesome :) (shame you couldn't get the chance to do more with it :( )

Huh. That's peculiar. Maybe it's because the file size was verging a bit too high. Does anybody know what the executable file size limit is for asm programs?

Yah, that black rectangle thing was because I was a little too zealous in trying to optimize my tilemapper and didn't think my code thoughly enough.
The custom font might have actually been a bad idea. It takes up way too much memory :P

I believe it's 8192 bytes for a nostub program and 8811 bytes for a shell program.
This is executable code only, although I believe if you try to run a nostub program from the homescreen who's overall size (code + data) is above 8192, the TI-OS won't let you run it. However, I believe a Homerun hook, like in DCS7 or CalcUtil circumvents this issue.
-
Oh. That would be why. My program is about 8200 bytes, and I didn't think to check it with all hooks completely disabled.

I don't have time to write a big review like last time, but I voted for Squidgetx. Here are the pros and cons of each game imho:
-Squidgetx:
Pros: Great graphics and reasonable difficulty. My favorite puzzle of all
Cons: Transition between levels takes too long. The ability to skip the text or make it instantly appear by pressing a key would be nice.
-Michael_Lee
Pros: Same as Squidgetx, although a bit easier and with no storyline (sort-of)
Cons: Grayscale flickers extremely badly when moving. I like the entry almost as much as Squidgetx, but that part made me choose Squidgetx's over yours, unfortunately :(
-Happybobjr
Pros: Interesting story
Cons: I never could figure out what to do. No key except ON were responding. I gave up after trying all of them. Some instructions would have been nice.
-
Wow, not a lot of people voted for this one :|
I guess I win :P
btw, post ratings are disabled in this forum, just letting you know :)
-
Winner: squidgetx.
-
I'll fix this.
Also congrats!
