Starcraft tournament

Those who regulary visit #omnimaga may have heard I was planning to do a Starcraft Tournament during christmas holidays since october, when everyone has no school, and some seemed interested, so I decided to post about it now in case they would still be interested.

Basically it would be cool if there was some kind of TI community Starcraft tournament, just for the fun of it. There would be no prize, but it would be pretty fun anyway. :)smile.gif Basically here is how it would work:

-It would be a Starcraft Classic tournament, not brood war, since some people can't seems to find brood war or just doesn't have it but have the original game.
-Game mode would be over battle.net US east server.
-Map would be Starcraft Dream, Fastest possible map ever or Micro Jail deluxe, to ensure very fast games (as they were hacked so the mineral spots are stuck next to the main building and 10 mineral spot are stuck together and there is lot of vespene geyser around so you are sure to never run out of ressource and build fast)
-Game mode would be free for all. This mean everyone against each others, no teams.
-If we get 8 people, there would be 3 games. Last 4 remaining players would play a second time against each others, then the two last remaining players against each others. If there is less or more players this may change the amount of rounds of game played.
-Champions would be listed in a topic in the awards section.

The hardest part would be to decide which day we do it. During beginning of week it would have to be during morning, end of week evenings and weekend it could be anytime during daytime, providing it is not too late during evenings.

To know who is the winner, everyone would have to save a replay of the game, and email it to me afterward so i can view everyone's replay and see who won and who died when. Those who don't send a replay would be disqualified.

I hope some people are interested. I thought it would be fun even though it's not calc related if we had a online game tournament withy only TI community members or old TI community members during Christmas or New Year break.

what is a round robin?

An idea would be that we do a massive free for all, which determines who play against who. Probably strongest vs strongest or like in NHL playoffs Strongest vs weakest. That way after the big free for all each person play against someone else, and the winner go to next round

xlibman, in a round robin, you play each person once in a one on one. Then, we could determine winner there, or use that to make a bracket system, where the week start against strong and all that. We could to a round robin with more than one, and have a point system set up on how you place. First place-4points, 2nd - 3 points, 3rd - 2 points, 4th - 1 point. Most points wins, or is first seed in bracket kind of thing.

I'm in. Has to be on a Saturday or Sunday; however. I would prefer if it didn't take much time, my parents and school are quite demanding.

-=SilverCalcKnight|_=-

Edit: Perhaps, if we do some kind of round-robin bracket set-up thing, we can all get with our opponents and play whenever we want. That way, we wouldn't be chaining ourselves to a date, and we could always set some kind of deadline to make sure no one procrastinates. Also, I say if we don't get more than 8 players, we should introduce enough comps to make it 8 players.

I'm also in.

And it's the same for me as it is for SCK: Saturdays and Sundays (maybe Friday evenings, but weekends are more convienent) are the best days for me, as school is demanding, and my parents don't care for me to play games instead of work.  ;)wink.gif
