Title: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Netham45 on May 02, 2011, 07:31:01 pm
First off, please make sure your browser is compatible.
Spoiler For Browser Compatibility:
Opera 11 - Full
Firefox 4 - Full (Mildly slow.)
Chrome 11 - Full
IE9 - Most Works(Does not scroll properly, stylesheets do not work quite right.) Really slow.
IE8 - Does not work(Does not load properly).

From here on, I will no longer be supporting IE8-. It just doesn't work right. If you must use IE, please upgrade to IE9. If you don't need to use IE, please use Opera, Firefox, or Chrome.

I will be supporting IE9 and above, though it will receive features and bug fixes at the lowest priority.

Older browsers will not be supported. FF3.0, for example, came out in June of 2008, almost 3 years ago, therefore it will not be supported.
Please clear your browser caches before submitting bug reports. Here's how to clear them!

Spoiler For Opera:
press Alt+T
Select 'Delete Private Data'
Uncheck everything except for 'Delete entire cache' under 'Detailed Options'
Click on 'Delete'
Spoiler For Chrome:
Press Ctrl+Shift+Del
Uncheck everything except for 'Empty the cache'
Click on 'Clear browsing data'
Spoiler For Firefox:
Press Alt+T
Select 'Clear Recent History'
Set time rage to 'Everything'
Unselect everything except 'Cache' under Details
Spoiler For Internet Explorer:
Switch to Opera, Chrome, or Firefox and follow those instructions.
For those stuck on IE:
Press Alt+T
Select 'Delete Browsing History'
Check 'Preserve Favorites Website Data', and 'Temporary Internet Files'
Uncheck everything else
Hit 'Delete'
Spoiler For Safari:
Goto tools(Alt+T on Windows, Command+T on Mac)
Select "Reset Safari"
Deselect all the boxes except Clear Cookies and Clear Cache
Click ok

Quick refreshes:

Opera: F5
Chrome: Ctrl+F5
Firefox: Ctrl+Shift+R
IE: Ctrl+F5
Safari: Ctrl+Shift+R

If you are still having issues after clearing your cache, please make a new topic/reply in an applicable topic with your:
Browser Type/Version
Browser Extensions(noscript, for example)
OS (Windows/Linux)
Version of OS(7/Debian)
When you first noticed the bug

Google Chrome:
Ctrl + F5: force a reload of the current page

This has saved me quite a bit of time.

Nice, finally a clear reference in one place. And lol @IE (http://www.i-marco.nl/weblog/images/breakdown.png).

And for Safari Tools is also Alt+T (on Windows, at least).

If you want force refreshing tips as well, in IE it's Ctrl+F5 and in Firefox and Safari it's Ctrl+Shift+R (not sure about the last one).

When did the last version of Netscape come out, anyway? :P

Also I wonder what is it in Konqueror?

The lies.  I downloaded Netscape 3.0 the other day, it seems to compare quite nicely to FF 4 ^-^

The new omnomirc worked in the morning for me. Now whatever I type in, it doesn't get displayed. Also the online-member list isn't being displayed.
EDIT:Apparently spybot doesn't work either.

Another thing about IE I don't understand is why they changed the logo. The old one actually looks better IMO:

gtk seems to be having some rendering issues with omnom (or at least for me).
as you can see, the text bar at the bottom doesn't fit in the space where it should, and the arrows second from the right, for scrolling up and down, and the arrows in the top left don't function.
i don't know how long it's been like this (since i can normally never use omnom because i'm at my house), but this has been both yesterday and today at least.

EDIT: oh, and chan messages are being stuck over in the left column with the usernames rather than in the right 'text body' section. they look like this because of it:
[09:10:31 AM]      * calcdude has
                         joined
                         #omnimaga
is it supposed to do that?

O.O that is kinda bad. Did clearing cache do anything?

On my side everything is fine except when the mouse cursor hovers on the chat, the mousewheel won't let me scroll the page.

That used to happen to me too, but it's not now....
Happened in firefox 2 tho :P

EDIT: yeah, both join and quit msgs display properly atm
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Netham45 on June 25, 2011, 02:22:23 pm
@Silver, my guess is you have some sort of extension like noscript or something that's getting a bit overzealous and screwing with stuff. That's beyond just screwing up, your browser isn't refreshing properly when content is updated. All the gibberish in the username box makes me think that something is corrupted somewhere.

@Shmibs, I fixed the text being on the left like that a while ago(a long while ago), that happened when I moved over from divs to a table. Have you cleared cache and such?
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Silver Shadow on June 25, 2011, 07:09:49 pm
Strangely, it works fine now (though the options still don't work)...
And no, I don't have any extensions installed.

Must be just IE9 and Micro$oft... ;D
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: shmibs on June 25, 2011, 09:45:00 pm
i definitely cleared the cache, but it was still doing that afterwards. i'm back home now, so i can't test omnom again for a while...

Okay this is a problem I don't want happening again. It crashed firefox and severely lagged my entire network, and my computer complained of a thermal event.

OmnomIRC just sent about 1 billion messages by no username at "Invalid Date" O'Clock with no text in them. Why?
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Sorunome on April 29, 2013, 07:13:32 pm
I just said ONĀ OMNOMIRC itself that it was my fault on the serverside :P
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on April 29, 2013, 07:33:55 pm
Question: Is OmnomIRC still incredibly laggy on some Linux installs when using Firefox? Back then, people like Meishe91 with good computers had to get it disabled because they got 4 frames per second on Omni otherwise. It was around late 2011, though.

Also the user list no longer shows IRC nicks. Is it due to the recent problem involving 100 nicks of each people?
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Darl181 on April 29, 2013, 07:35:22 pm
I'm using linux and it's behaving pretty nicely :) Smoothscrolling and everything
For me, it only lags and stuff when the wifi's having a bad hair day which is pretty much all the time >.<
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Sorunome on April 29, 2013, 07:35:37 pm
I don't know about lag, it isn't laggy for me in ff using linux

and yeah, the no irc nicks was me being frustated and massivley changing the squl query to delete old people and it just happens now that it doens't display irc users.

Omni doesn't work on Chrome in Windows XP SP 2. Thought I'd say that. It just fayulz. Then you have to refresh the page to see what ppl have said.

Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 08, 2013, 02:15:48 am
I have no clue why, but the day afterward, I couldn't access Omni and Omnom anymore until I realized the IP changed but the DNS didn't update on my side, so I had to add the new IP to my hosts file.
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Sorunome on June 08, 2013, 04:52:12 pm
Oh yeah, it was put off cloudflare thus the dns changed
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 08, 2013, 11:35:37 pm
Yeah actually when I got errors it was a Cloudflare cached page that appeared instead.

The strange thing, though, is that juju could access Omni fine from his Internet connection, even though he uses the same ISP as me and only live 15 miles away from me in the same city.
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Sorunome on June 09, 2013, 02:51:41 pm
computers also locally cache DNS, that could be a problem.
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 10, 2013, 07:29:16 pm
Ah maybe. I guess I might need to check Google if it's possible to change the settings so that won't happen as often, but it seems to only happen on Omni and 57o9.
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!
Post by: Sorunome on June 14, 2013, 03:04:44 am
Well, I wouldn't really think about that issue because changing DNS doesn't happen that often so it doesn't really matter :)

i'm terible sorry, that was a server-side issue (yes, i changed a tad bit of stuff again) and I didn't see that one thing.....anyways, it's fixed now.
I wonder why it was working in my local instance, though, maybe i forgot to copy the newest files to my local instance xD
Title: Re: Having issues with OmnomIRC? START HERE!

On a side note, do you think you could do something about slow performances when multiple Omni tabs are open? Eg when more than 3 tabs are open you could make the rest timeout. Because I sometimes check the new posts list and open multiple unread topics to avoid forgetting where I was at, but then every Omni page takes 3 minutes to load because it can't take the extreme load (or maybe it just takes a crapload of bandwidth on my end?)

Yeah, that's an IRCd configuration line I added and then removed. The guys working on OmnomIRC should probably fix that as well.

Edit: The offending lines are out of the backlog, I spammed a lil on IRC and it now works again!

If you have server key stuff :P

Also, so far I only checked for messages being 0-string, won't be too hard to do that for nicks too.

And the chatbox gets grayed out while switching tab because reasons :P

Oh right, it's just for admins. I worried that any user could do it. This would have been a serious threat since people can read the logs and see how the exploit is used. :P
