Why is it that new users are able to use omnomIRC without 20posts?
example
http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=ezportal;sa=page;p=13&userSearch=pimathbrainiac
offtopic omnimaga is kinda laggy
-
plz don't kick me off. I need IRC for devel and lolz. I don't abuse it
-
nothing says you can't still use it here are sollutions server= #omnimaga
goto http://efnet.org/ find mIRC or IceChat on google any of these will alow you to get on IRC
-
still, OmnomIRC is not blocked by school, other IRC websites are. (I do a lot of my coding at lunch and in the MC after school)
-
Hm, I think there is a OmnomIRC mobile app somewhere
(if you have a phone)
if you dont you can make a suggestions thread and post untill you get 20 or 40 posts
-
I don't have a smartphone. I have a flip phone.
-
You just need a few more posts until you can use it normally pimathbraniac. I wouldn't worry.
And yea, we knew we had some issues with permissions, however we didn't know about it extending in to OmnomIRC. Thanks for the report.
-
is the number 20, or 40? just wondering...
-
I think it's 20 for OmnomIRC and 40 to send PMs.
-
40 for Omnom, 5 for PMs IIRC. Or 20.
Also I think you can get an IRC client for flip phone, not sure.
-
Due to abuse, the minimum post count limit to chat from OmnomIRC was increased to 40 You currently have 19 posts.
is what it says at the top of my screen
I think it is for omnomirc when in www.omnimaga.org tho, not omnomirc.www.omnimaga.org
-
Maybe it was supposed to be 40 for Omnom, I never can remember.
*Edit*
Also note that OmnomIRC is the forum shoutbox linked to several IRC channels owned by Omnimaga, as well as a few other related ones. It is a privilege for users with at least forty posts. Do not spam the forums to fulfill this forty-post requirement. Where applicable, the Omnimaga forum rules also apply to OmnomIRC and the IRC channels and abuse will lead to bans on both IRC and the forums.
-
Don't tell anyone, but the limit is directly implemented in the EZblock and not in the omnom itself.
-
what is EZblock? is that the thing at the top of my webpage?
-
It seems there are a few permission issues on the site at the moment. I'll look into them during class tonight.
I'll also be working on an alternative to OmnomIRC in my spare time that wont be integrated into the forum. Feel free to use that when I get around to making it.
-
as I said in IRC, you guys are great for pointing that out. I was confused myself
-
Yeah, the bug was known since a while, but I don't really mind since you went in the same trouble finding the link to omnomirc.www.omnimaga.org as finding out how to get in our IRC channel.
-
I just went to omnomirc and it let me log in.
---
google = friend
I went to omnimaga.org/irc, and I wondered what omnomIRC was b/c it popped up in front of everyone's name, and googled
sorry for double-posting.
Edit (Eeems): merged doublepost
-
You can modify your old posts instead of double posting. Press the 'Modify' or 'Quick Modify' button and just add in a 'Edit: <new content>' or whatever suits your fancy to your old post.
-
thx dude... I'm new to forums

thx dude... I'm new to forums
No problem, every one of us was new to forums once :)
-
I think I quadruple posted my first time here. :P
-
Thanks for the sympathy
-
Crap... *Waves hand* You have never seen me on IRC... (good thing I can always use my jedi mind tricks as a fall back)
-
By the way, one great alternative to OmnomIRC or IRC: Omnimaga forums. That way also if you have questions and people who can help are at work, sleeping or at school, then they can answer later, and if someone else need the same help a few days/weeks/months later, then he can just read your topic instead of having to create one. :)
By the way the limit used to be 20 then got increased to 40 after the nDoom incident, but has it been decreased again afterward?
-
If not, it should IMO.
-
anyway, I almost have 30, and when This started I had about 10
-

Actually I would wait until maybe the January school semesters restart. You know very well how rich in trolling November/December tend to be in the TI community (it even led to the end of Omnimaga once). :P
-
was it that "thing" that no one would explain to me last night over IRC? (some sort of thing with police and religion)
-
No that was another incident that happend a lot more recently.
-
Once I can PM, someone fill me in on these two incidents... I am a bit curious...
-
Actually Eeems it was far before that. The thing that killed Omni was way back in Late Nov 2007 and lasted through most of the Winter 2008. The incident that led to OmnomIRC postcount requirement increase happened around March 2011 when nDoom for the TI-Nspire made front page news on many large techno/gaming blogs and a trolling/invasion/hacking forum.
-
The incident he was talking about was something that happened last year. The SirCmpwn incident. So it happened a lot more recently then everything else mentioned ;P
We both are right, I'm just assuming you thought I was talking about something else.
-
Some extremist religious person in IRC, Omni almost ending, and nDoom being a bit too popular
Someone tell me these things! They seem a bit interesting... (curiosity is getting the better of me here...)
-

Oh OK. Yeah I thought you were talking about the nDoom incident and thought it occured after the police/religion thing.
For more details it might be a bit too long to explain, so you might want to go check through older Omnimaga news for summary of stuff that happened. Key months would be late Jan-Mar 08, Feb-Mar 11 and Aug 11. That way, also, if the people involved wanted to move on from past mistakes and actually improved, then past issues are not brought up from the grave in their face again and again :P
-
Yikes not the SirCmpwn incident.
He was a Coder of Tommorrow then he got in a fight with Eeems and deoped Eeems then kicked all IRC users off IRC and deleted the Axe Parser Forum which was recovered

There was more to it then that, but that is the public stuff that happened.
-
Oh the incident of Our Dear Friend... that was a lot of fun to deal with... X.x Omnimaga has had some interesting times, haha...
-
Actually for some reasons, it only started to happen when he moved out of his parents' home, though (except maybe his first demotion from staff which was probably just before)
-
I just move out of my parents home 0.o I hope this doesn't happen to me too :P j/k
-
Lol, me too.
