Title: Omnom Preferences
Post by: Joshuasm32 on February 11, 2014, 01:59:37 am
Could it be possible to save settings for Omnom IRC to a user's account (if they are using Omnimaga), instead of using cookies?  I have my browser set to clear them when I close their tab (with a strict access policy), and exceptions are not really an option based upon the way I have things set.  Also, could themes (such as retro) apply to IRC?

Themes should currently apply to retro, chaning it on the main page only changes the theme for your session, thus omnomirc not noticing.
You'll have to change it in your profile look and preferences.

And, that linking settings to an account, may be a good idea, just got an idea how to make it possible :)

EDIT: but first i'll have to finish some smiley-behaviour :P
EDIT2: And some more re-writing...but it is added to the todo list for OmnomIRC now, no worries ;)

I'm betting that for the SMF 2.0 site, everything will be tied to your account, but I could be wrong. That said, I liked when Omnom was entirely cookie-based, because I could keep it disabled on my phone and enabled on my computer, since it was too slow on my phone. Now if I disable it on my computer it gets disabled automatically on my phone too (although now it's not a serious issue since I decided to use Tapatalk and only browse the full site as guest when I'm on mobile)

I can still do some things cookie-based, or have like cookies override the server-settings.
EDIT: actually I'll switch to local storage, but same result :P
