Coming soon on your Android device.

Coming soon on your Android device.
Sweet, Java application I guess?
-
Of course. Actually that's the first Java program I ever wrote.
-
Of course. Actually that's the first Java program I ever wrote.
There are other Android Java Programmers around like me and Ikkerens. So feel free to ask us if you have any questions.
-
I'll poke you or Ikkerens if needed :)
I think I have a Java course this semester, will be fun. (Although it's not Android.)
-
Lemme know if you need any help. I've got a bit of Android dev experience, and a fair bit of Java under my belt. I also doubt anyone knows OmnomIRC better than me. :P
When it's done, I'll throw it up on the marketplace for you, too.
I'd also like to have a go at the source when you finish it, if possible. :)
-
Thanks for the help Netham :)
Unfortunately, my hard drive crashed...
-
:'(
Does that mean you lost everything (and that there isn't a chance of recovering it)?
-
Yes, but I can easily remake it, though. There might even be a chance to recover it, maybe.
-
Have you tried any hard drive recovery tools to see if you can recover your data?
-
As in? I doubt I could do anything unless I go to a specialist if the motor stopped working.
-
Ah ok :/ well hopefully there is a way to get the data back
-
This sucks, I hope it won't be too hard to remake from scratch. X.x
-
And I'm restarting the project. This looks pretty nice right now. Coming soon! For real! (I hope. inb4 my new 1TB HD crashes in 3 days.)
-
yay :) if you need testing, i'm always ready to help you juju! but not for the coding, only for testing..
are yyou only gonna make the irc, or a compact version of the whole site?
-
Pretty much only the IRC. That might be cool to make a mobile version of the site though.
I have a version that lets you login and that's all for now. :)
Also I need your Android versions so I can set a minimum version. Built it for 2.2 2.1 right now.
-
http://nooooooooooooooo.com it seems that i have 2.1 xs stupid sony ericsson aaargh..
could you make a screenie of it?
couldn't resist of making a little mockup of a mobile version xp
but the colors semm to be bad, it was smoother in ps
(http://img.removedfromgame.com/imgs/0-OmniMobileMockup.GIF)
-
I thought of something else entierely. Maybe something like Cemetech did. Not bad, though.
Also reuploaded so the minimum version is 2.1.
-
Take a look at TI-Planets mobile version (web site).
I like it :)
-
Don't know if this helps, but I have 2.3. And a full mobile version if Omni would be awesome! :D
-
I have 2.2, will this app work on my tablet? (what does this app do so far?)
-
AppInventor works great for mock-ups, unfortunately Google is shutting it down this month. :<
-
can you make such nice graphics with it? i don't.. how can you put btns next to each other for example?
i really hope this is gonna lead us to an app, that would be so great.
it might be wrong, but i don't really like the icon xs not really not liking it, but it just doesn't really look like a fancy android app next to the other icons
i'm very sorry to say this xs but i thought anything could be useful..
edit: could anyone plz tell me if this app already works for him/her? because to me it doesn't, and it's quite frustrating (i have 2.1 and 2.3 so it should work)
edit: what do you think of this?
-
It works pretty fine on my Android 2.3.3 device, don't know why it wouldn't work. Might try with my bro's device.
Also, if there would be a mobile version of the site, you would access it in your web browser, and I think we have to write a SMF plugin for that.
Edit: Nice icon. It have to be kinda smaller though.
-
here they are, you don't have to use them of course, it's just an idea..
i already put them in the correct dir's and correct sizes

How about Apple devices?
-
iPhone?
-
And iPod touch.
Irc doesn't work at all in safari, and in the browser in using, it works, but not great.
Also it constantly scrolls to the top of the page on it <.<
-
That's why we need a mobile version.
And OmnomIRC on iDevices isn't planned yet, but that might be nice. Don't want to pay $99 for the SDK though.
-
I have a friend who already has paid for all that stuff, But I don't know how keen he would be on letting it be 'borrowed'
-
You can get the iOS SDK for free, but you can't try anything on a real device without paying the $100/yr.
-
I've got the $100/yr and I'm skilled in iPhone development. I could take this on as a sideproject. Maybe I could name it iOmnom?
-
Well, for the android version, will this work on Honeycomb versions?
-
http://ourl.ca/10678/me runs
-
LOL wow. I actually thought that name up myself and I was pretty proud of that..... well, looks like this project isn't happening.
-
Yeah, that one seems to be dropped, as far as I know. Anyway, that was a browser-based application, not an actual app for any mobile OS.
-
That one is dropped and using a bunch of depreciated parts of OmnomIRC.
-
Screenshot time!
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in an out of memory error in the update function. That's no fun.
Also might upload the code on GitHub or something so you can look at it soon.
-
great, it looks really good :) andposting the code on github would be nice, since ten we'll be able to learn and help
-
Oh lol I made a typo in a variable in the update URL I am stupid that's why it did Out of memory errors lol.
Oh well here's an apk to test. :) Only receieving stuff is supported.
Also git repo coming soon.

for those who fail to make it work, do this:
settings > applications > 1) Uknown sources
2) > development > allow mock locations
paramètres > applications > 1) sources inconnues
2) > développement > positions fictives
instellingen > toepassingen > 1) onbekende bronnen
2) > Ontikkeling > neplocaties toestaan
einstellungen > anwendungen > 1) unbekannte quellen
2) entwickelung > falsche standorte
When done this, it should work, be sure to have checked both! :)
for those who don't get it yet, here's a screenie on how to do this

Maybe just change the name :P

You got it to work with Allow mock locations? I thought it would do nothing.
-
how do i log in it says wrong username or pw
-
ANDROID ANDROID MAKE IT AVAIBLE FOR GALAXY GIO
and now in English please?
-
I use it with Android 2.1-update1 on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, and it's not working...
All I have (once I'm connected to #omnimaga for example) is a black page with "Successfully logged in. Welcome Matrefeytontias!" and I can't send or receive anything <_<
-
you should be able to read messages from omnomIRC, or at least i can, but receiving does not work yet.

-
wow, i meant sending doesn't work yet ö receiving should work
-
:o that doesnt work to :(
-
Recieving should work, but not sending.
-
By the way does that still work and is it available yet? I was wondering since juju had it on his phone thursday and I now have an android device.
-
OmnomIRC mobile? Awesome!
Will it come to iOS too?
-
Most likely Cydia if that ever happens, since otherwise it costs money to develop apps for iDevices.
-

There's a download at the beginning of the 2nd page.
-
Well, that iOmnom doesn't actually work, so it'd be great if someone remade it.
-
Yeah true, although for now I found AndroIRC, although setting it up to auto connect was a major PITA and juju actually had to do it for me. X.x
-
Yeah, there's always AndroIRC, but the actual iOmnom app would still be interesting. I still have the code on GitHub, I might try to finish it.
-
I personally use AndChat for irc on my phone.
-
(Btw for those with iDevices, do NOT use any existing free IRC client available at the appstore. They're either hoaxes, viruses or outdated apps that only works in older iOS versions. You may want to jailbreak your device and use another one from Cydia or something for safety reasons)

Or buy colloquy
-
I personally wouldn't spend any money on an IRC client though, when on computers almost every good IRC client are available for free. I was actually shocked when I discovered colloquy was not free O.O
-
I use Mango Lite, which is free. It's got some quirks, but it gets the job done.
iOmnom would still be a great idea IMO though.
