It is missing? I'm guessing this is an effect from the data loss but idk.
-
This might be because it put too much load on the server.
-
It was too resource-intensive. Notice how the site still has slowdowns but far less than before OmnomIRC was activated.
That reminds me, does OmnomIRC use any of the MySQL databases? ???
For now, irc.efnet.org #omnimaga or www.mibbit.com
-
But will it come online again soon?
-
It depends. If it's deemed too resource-intensive for the current server config, I'm starting to wonder if they won't need to return to a dual-hosting configuration like we had before (the site on one host and Omnom on another), so that when OmnomIRC is used a lot, it won't hamper site performances. That would be really expensive, though, and probably require heavy modification since the current version is meant to be hosted on the same host as the site itself, meaning it would remain down for days.
-
I'd suggest just waiting. I'm sure Netham will let us know something when he has something to report. ;)
-
what aoc said. give netham some time
-
That shit seems really complicated, though. O.O
Don't wonder why I was so scared of moving to a VPS instead of AspirationHosting back in the days (although it would have been better for costs)
-
Without Omnom bot showing new posts in IRC, I feel like I'm back in old days when I constantly spammed F5 on homepage to see if there are any new posts
-
Isnt there an rss feed and tools written to allow you to be notified if there are new posts?
-
This might still work: http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=4644.0;attach=3564
RSS feed http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=.xml;sa=recent;limit=10
Also Deep Thought made a post notifier for Chrome, but I forgot where is it (search is offline, so it might be hard to find)
-
yeah there is, but my rss feed is on desktop and i don't usually look at my desktop when on browser, running through each tab
