This is getting more download per week than xLIB xLIB revolution o.oblink.gif

any progress btw?
Title: Demo
Post by: Snake on June 13, 2006, 12:55:00 pm
you're serious? I did not took the time to watch the download rate :Ptongue.gif ahhaha

progress? ... i stopped for a while, messing with Xlib.. coded a basic metroid (only movement and some ennemie, (it's kinda the same as yours.. but more slow and useless :Ptongue.gif hahaha)

tried to make a "pokemon" style game.. but the 8x8 sprite are annoying as hell...

I will work again on RE when i feel like it, that's why i released a demo, to show it, then, people will wait, cause I'm not gonna give a release date or something :Ptongue.gif
Title: Demo
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 13, 2006, 12:59:00 pm
you made a metroid too? o.oblink.gif hehe XDsmiley.gif

I cant wait to see RE finished ^^ but yea xlib rocks
Title: Demo
Post by: Snake on June 13, 2006, 01:04:00 pm
haha, my metroid is really... boring
it was just a test, to mess around with xlib, and it rocks

but sprite size limitation is my nemesis...
I would like to use 16x16 sprites -_-'

Post by: Snake on June 14, 2006, 04:59:00 am
not with xlib 0.1a ??
cause this is the one i use, and it's 8x8 sprite, i can use four separate sprite for one carachter but it's slow as hell...
Title: Demo
Post by: Spellshaper on June 14, 2006, 05:12:00 am
oh... yeah, the 16x16 feature came with 0.601b ^^'

I guess he likes the easier syntax
Title: Demo
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 14, 2006, 06:29:00 am
yeah xlib 0.1 was so much easy
Title: Demo
Post by: Snake on June 14, 2006, 01:56:00 pm
in fact.. yes :Ptongue.gif

does the 0.601b is more fast?
Title: Demo
Post by: shadow on June 14, 2006, 02:21:00 pm
lol same here, i use the old xlib, for two reasons: 1. its easier than the new version 2. i didn't know there was a updated version i thought the old one was the most recent.

my battle system has to do 2 by 2 tiles to display stuff too, but it kinda runs smoothly so it doesn't look unnatural, you should try doing the samething 2

the new xlib can do 5 level grayscale on the TI-83+ SE

i don't have an SE but y may think of buying one... but if i'm to buy a new ti it will be a 86... to play "blinded by the dark"

just a question, a want to learn ASM, i don't know C++ or any other language, so what's the best for me? 28 days?....

i want something that cover the basics you know :Ptongue.gif

2X2 sprites are more slow... and it's more hard to program... (4 line of code instead of one cannot be more speedy or even equal..)

hey.. what's money for?

EDIT (Kevin) merged double posts

86 would be cool  so you could port Resident evil to it ^^

as for asm learning I must warn you its kinda hard, but the best tutorial is asm in 28 days

bah.. i learned Action Script 2.0 in 10days...

I can surely learn ASM in 28 days :)smile.gif

and after that, I'll program some good games with the help of you all ;)wink.gif

Wh-aaat?
170 download?

... I'm utterly desabused!
I was thinking that it was really eerr boring and cheap :Ptongue.gif

this is what I call motivation :)smile.gif
anyway it's only download, i would like to see some "impression" if only there was something like that on ticalc.org .... (yes there is one system, but it's very poor)

anyway, YOU keven, will have to show me how to archives and desarchives program
Title: Demo
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on June 16, 2006, 11:31:00 am
you cant do it in pure basic, you absolutely need asm libraries

however I really recommend flash gordon, resource and xlib app for this, because they just copy the programs in RAM instead of unarchiving them, its much faster and cause less garbage collect messages
Title: Demo
Post by: Snake on June 17, 2006, 07:50:00 am
HEY, what's money for? (on the forum)

anyway
yeah flash gordon seem's to do the job...
The game will be divided into chapter, around 10 rooms (maybe more, it depends on how many script there is per chapter)

he's probably molting.
For snakes, it's a long process that makes them quite irritated.
Man, I once took care of a snake of a friend of mine when he was on vacation, and he didn't tell me.
THAT BITE HUUUURT. Lucky for me, she wasn't poisonous. But she was such a darling with her big yellow eyes and flickering tongue *romanticises*
*sigh*

Really, I dunno why. I hope he comes back. :/

mental note: get a snake. The perfect pet.

ugh I abandonned cegep, too much work >.< (I had like 30 hours of homework per week, and 30 hours of class). On top of that most homework HAD to be done on a PC, and I didnt had a PC at home back then, so I had to stay at school until 10 PM sometimes. At least hi school wasnt so heavy, we had lot of work in class, about 2 hours of homework per week, sometimes none at all, we got like 4 projects in march, then nothing else. I ended up programming games at least 30 mins per class in secondary 5
