Title: FF:ROS: the Reborn
Post by: josephmarin on March 29, 2007, 04:54:00 am
Well, like the title implies, I'm reviving FF:ROS. Im about 4.5 credits away from graduation, so I figured I'd pull it off the shelf, blow off the dust (cough cough), and get it started again. I still need sprites, so if anyone would like to contribute, that'd be groovy. Im going for a sort of medieval/modern type setting. Of course, I could do them myself, but the game would look terrible =P. I'll do some placeholder sprites for now, and get some screenshots for you folks ASAP.

Cool, glad to see you back again.  Black and white I'm guessing?

Black and white, yes. HRP's main project, would be nifty =) If we can get most of HRP in on this, not only will it get done, it will turn out better than if I'd done it solo. I'm currently writing up the story behind it, but I dont know when it'll be done. Till then, if you wanna do me some sprites, go for it ^_^

When you say medieval/modern, do you mean spites from the 17th-18th centuries?

Something that looks from that era. Final Fantasy 6-8 ish.

Status update: Back on! My leg's pretty much healed up by now, and I'm working on the storyline. If someone wants to make a title screen, that'd be nifty ^_^ I suck at those...

you must do some intense programming if you injured you leg while doing it, and then couldnt continue untill it was fixed.

He said to me on IRC a while back that this was Basic (I think it may use xLib, however I'm not sure).

How about jonLib??? :)smile.gif
Cuz I'm terrible at basic, and the only way i would be able to help is through asm libs.

Yes well, if you could port what I have in BASIC to asm, that'd be groovy. I want no lack of speed or anything. Cos I feel that with the amount of work I'll put into this, it will run slowly, thus the player loses interest. y the by, I havent gotten much more done cos I've been at Job Corps the last 3 weeks and have returned from Hell for the weekend (Yes, finally, real food!!!)

I should, but I can't really do so at job corps, due to lack of computer. I have my phone, but it costs a lot and me mum is too broke this month. Maybe next month.

Nah, FFROS is still alive and kicking...kicking more than living, but living none the less. I've since recently gotten fresh batteries for my calc, so it works again, therefore progress can *ahem* start. Don't expect much to be put here after the 16th, cos I'm going back to Job Corps when summer vacation is over, on the 16th. Till then, spam me like mad on IRC or here for news, screenies, etc. Cheerio.

Okay. News. I've got the battle system *literally* drawn up *on graph paper ^_^* and ready to be coded. Anyone play Legend of LeGaia for PSX? I'm shooting for something similar to that. Basically, for those who don't know, the battle system is turn based. Instead of having a single "attack" option, you click on the attack button, and a screen pops up with directional arrows. You make combinations of those four to represent your attack. Example, high->low->left would make your character hit near the head, then down low, and finally punch or use the weapon in the left hand. There's a limit to how many attacks you can have per turn, dependant on your level. When I can, I'll try to scan my draw-up and post it.

The battle system seems similar to Marc the SuperKid Quest. Anyways, I guess I was wrong when I said the project was dead: it wasn't even born yet. :Ptongue.gif

Great to finally hear it started.
