Portable version of TiLP?
« on: September 08, 2013, 03:26:40 pm »
I've often found myself wishing that TiLP was a portable application, so I could take it with me on a flash drive and use it on any computer. Almost all the apps I use in any given day (except for Chrome) is either a webapp or runs off my flash drive. It really helps because I use several computers over the course of a day.

But TiLP is definitely not portable, and maybe it's impossible to make it so. I don't know much at all about how these apps work, but is there a chance that there might be a portable TiLP in the future, such as if the drivers could be installed and uninstalled when the app is run?

When asked before, it didn't really seem to go anywhere :/

Still would like to see something like it tho, aside from msd8x (awesome as it is).

it seems to me that, because it requires additional hardware drivers, portability wouldn't be possible

You must install the driver for the cable on each computer (which might need administrative rights, which isn't always possible on school computers), otherwise it might be possible to make it portable. If you use a cable that uses generic drivers that comes with Windows (if it exists), the problem would be solved.

many of the computers at my school have LoggerPro, which has silverlink (maybe more) support, but only for getting lists from a calculator. I believe that the driver that they are using is the same drivers as TI's old (non-4.xwhateverversion) TI-connect, so you can portabilitize that, probably, though I havent gotten it to work because they are blocking some other part of TI-connect.

Spoiler For some of the calcs I own:

(actually I have quite a few more than this, but I don't feel like making bars for them all.)
