Title: rogue like game

a rogue like game, it alows you to wander a giant world (randomly generated). A map is randomly generated and is a matrix of rooms, each of which is premade and compressed. You will move around and fight enemies in each 8X8 room, and towns also exist with a number of stores. As well, up and down "stairs" alow you to venture deeper into the world where more powerful monsters exist. Lots of items and weapons, tons of spells, and custimisation options should make this one great game. Graphics will be simplistic 8X8 b/w tiles and I hope to keep everything good and clear as to what they are. Also, a class system will exist but you will be alowed to change classes some how.

Items types as of now:
weapon(bows, swords, axes, ect.)
amo(for use in bows and such)
staff(improve magics quality)
armor(sheilds,helms,ect)
potion(magic in one use form)
scrolls(")
food (some have special affects like musherooms and magic sustinances)
gold(money)
acsessory (ring, broach, necklase, ect.)

all of which there will be many diffrent kinds of

-featured/implemented
shops (no inventory lists yet),menu, collision

-needed
enemies/AI,spells,items,to switch from asci to graphical,quests

speed isn't an issue, it is all turn based and rather simple for MOST things...

Well, if you are wondering how it looks, here is the first room (room 0, only on level 0...and prevents you from going beyond as it lacks any up stair cases)


the rooms are all 6/6 BTW, and for a very good reasons...

also, I have finished my list of commands and am programming each command...some might not happen

6X6 explination:
screen displays a 8X8 area, I don't want to have to do any special aligning to prevent you from going into a wall in another room...so, if they are 6X6 then the next rooms are displayed to.

yes, it uses xlib...though I may use the regular(non-app) one so I could bundle all of the data into a asm file or flash app via basic and builder and make it 83 compatible.
Also, I am making it because Rouge(83+flash) is such an uterly crappy game...when Angband and such are are so awsome.

yeah that site is some kind of ticalc.org like site, but it mostly have the good games, not all that BASIC crap. There is another french website where I am forum moderator which only have TI-83+ games, again, only the best ones: http://www.ti-center.com and another one but not all programs are good http://www.ti83plus.online.fr

EDIT oh and I must not forget: http://ti83.free.fr yet another one I loved this site!!! :Dbiggrin.gif too bad it hasn t been updated for 5 years though :(sad.gif

well, I have have decided how melee damge and status conditions will be decided, and based on it I have put together a list of some 60 monsters and stats and stuff, and I am fidling with the system to come up with optimaly balanced stats for them

as soon as I can fix/buy a new silver link to trandfer, I will be willing to put in the graphics...right now, I would have to type sevral hundred lines of code into graphlink...which I don't want to do.  My ditherer is all on computer so far, so I will can take pics easily

oops...rouge (roo'j) is a make up applied to the cheeks of women by means of a brush.  Rogue (rowg) is a scoundrel or thief...hehehe :oops:embarassed.gif

<.5ot> I got bored last night so I decided to work on Merthsoft's scrolling engine (using xLIB app) now I have a full fleged game! it's basically "Trapped" (flash game, the most common one is Trapped 4) for the 83+, and I devised an awsome way to scroll an 8x8 grid... if you have a 22x22 matrix then there are 9 8x8 parts (they overlap for good scrolling) then just adjust the offsets and re-draw the map 7 times in the direction you need! hehe, can't wait for this one :Dbiggrin.gif

Well, I decided that quality>quantity so I am removing a lot of spells and limmiting it to about 5 spells per magic item, as well I am planning on having a surgeon who can implant devices into your body (like atrificial eyes, retractable claws, teleporter, ect.) after he has researched them...at a massive cost.  Research will take a long time...at least without funding, and I plan to have every implant increase the amount you consume food (they are powered by your body after all).  Also, I cut weapon/armor/gun flags to two, and items to one.  Every item can have flags that give it special effects and abilities.  Finaly, I have decided to put semi futeristic/scifi elements into the fantasy world it is.

well, I am realy trying to make time right now.  All of my teachers have decided that senior year should be as misserable as possible and I am sick of writing papers about why duncan in mcbeth was prtrayed as a great ruler though he historicaly wasn't...any ways, I removed all of the elemental flags as they are to complicated and unmanagable...now their are slay flags, sustain flags, plus flags, and activate flags (items that cast spells)

UPDATE:
I killed having items on map, now when enemies drop an item it asks you if you want to take it or not...which frees up a lot of map memory and sprites...upside is I should have a lot more inventory room for players now

I am sure I will find more stuff to kill in the time to kill, on a up note...I added traps  :overheat:xplod.gif

I need a faster way to generate levels...other wise I am just going to make bigger/fewwer rooms...so, anyone have a blazing fast level decompressor...give me the link...please! :crazy:fou.gif

For the time being, Necroband is on hold as I work on a more convention rpg using the progress I have made...feel like I need to make a little shake up and the old engine was on my last nerve.  I am making a game using most of the engine, but it will no longer be random, lowly graphical, nor tboh (turn based over head) but will have a FF like system.  More on it as it warrants.

well, I am going to use g/s sprites...and it will be fantasy themed (have a story line that is subject to change...but like always, is more developed than the 'average')

oh nice grayscale. You should read my guide to TI=83 SE grayscale. Even though it's for Omnicalc it might help in sprite making and gs making :)smile.gif

cool suprises, but err... gs is powerful on the 83+, just with xlib, with omniclac its flicklery, with xlib its better than on the SE

well, some time in the future, it might be possible to use buffers to do GS...if trp1 adds them then that would be easier to do it and all...and would probably be faster as well
