Title: Strategic Conquest
Post by: elfprince13 on September 13, 2006, 10:13:00 am
This is gonna be a port of the the classic Mac OS game http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strategic_Conquest

the game looks like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/c4/Sc3.jpg (Not dial-up friendly)

the engine will be based of my new mapping engine so the first thing to do will be to convert all necessary sprites into the engine format

ASM would totally rock! Those sprites look amazing Elfprince13! Keep up the good work :thumbup:google.gif btw, what's a DCS6?

Edit: nvm, Doors CS right? Wow, so you know asm?  :Ptongue.gif

Post by: elfprince13 on September 22, 2006, 01:19:00 am
yeah, its Doors CS

anyway, I starting picking up asm back in the spring before my hiatus, then took a break. I know also know a fairly decent chunk about the theory and terminology of Asm  just from hanging around the community for almost 2 years.....

WAIT WAIT WAIT so the mouse routine of DCS can be used IN game? cool, so i guess it shouldnt be too hard to implement it right? Also does real USB mouse support works yet?

nice interface/title screen btw!
Title: Strategic Conquest
Post by: elfprince13 on September 24, 2006, 12:44:00 pm
heck yeah, you really should keep up with the DCS developments....

and no it doesn't support USB mouse yet, although someone could write an SE (Shell Expansion) for it pretty easily using usb8x

and thanks on the title screen

does Cemetech show up on the ti-news? besides, you can just check out the screenies on the main page as they are released.

well, Ive decided against 16*16 entirely because of screen real estate issues. :(sad.gif

thats just something I was working on to see how the tiles looked with each other.

the demo won't have much playable, just random map generation and the ability to scroll around in the map, plus the working main menu, and the beauteous titlescreen.

under 2300 bytes and half that is the title screen.

the ability to open files has now been programmed, although atm all the files contain is a map. map generation is now fully functional. working on writing the map scrolling code.

you should make it so when you reach top/bottom of screen it scroll automatically though, like starcraft so we dont have to use the scroll bars everytime we need to scroll

indeed it was for classic mac. you can still get it relatively cheap on the company website (deltatao.com or something like that, google deltatao software). there are also a few classic mac emulators online that have it.

oh...its not abandonware by any means...as I said they are still selling it....since it will run under os x using classic they can't call it abandonware.

btw, I got an email back, the guy who replied said he wasn't allowed to help on the AI, so I asked if he could still give me a rundown on the complete movement/attack rules.

its not abandonware.....its still considered a commercially licensed program (albeit pretty inexpensive).

on a different note:

well, no luck on the AI, but he did provide me with some useful information.

Sorry, but Peter Merrill has us sworn to secrecy on the AI stuff.
