I know i haven't had much time recently to go onto omnimaga.org. However i am making progress on a new rpg i am currently developing. I know that in the past few months i have started and halted many unfinished projects and have not really produced anything concrete for omnimaga to see. Hopefully this rpg will go further than most of my projects and i have some screenshots here for you all to look. Please feel free to comment!
i have put them in a rar file since there is 7 of them and it is easier to upload them together than separately.
-
Cool, is there a storyline written up already? :D
-
thanks for the quick reply. about the storyline, kind of. i guess this rpg is kind of a generic rpg like TI RPG for ti-nspire not exactly like a rpg with a complex storyline (eg: nostalgia). basically once i have the foundations ill think about it.
-
Wow! That looks very good!
It is very nice to see good things being made with Nspire BASIC! :D
-
Nice. I like the layout so far. Would you be able to add some small graphics like characters made of stat plots?
-
finally, some nSpire game with graphic w/o ndless?
-
Well, not a lot of graphics, unfortunately, but at least maybe even better than what we had so far.
Jhgenius01, can pics be displayed from BASIC? You could use Excale's pic creator if it's the case. It doesn't require Ndless.

wow, i havent seen this... let me check it out
hmm this is something big, ill give it a try.
-
How large are images?
-
hmm? im not sure what u mean
-
How big is a TI-Nspire picture, in bytes? On the TI-83 Plus a 96x63 monochrome pic is 767 bytes.
-
it depends ive checked the file sizes and they vary from 2.8 to 4 kb abouts. possibly because of greyscale or something
wait a minute...
do u mean the tns document from excale's pic generator?
-
Yeah, the tns docs from Excale's generator.
-
Nice, hope you can pull this off. Great job on the layout and taking advantage of what precious little Nspire BASIC has to offer :)

That screenshot looks great, but I'm sure it'll be really hard to do it, I can't even imagine it finished, but I want it finished, though :D
-
I'm sure it could be finished. The hardest part would be to add actual graphics besides HP bars.
-
Thanks everyone, ill try and answer your responses
DJ i've tried the tnic but i haven't checked the file size yet. as i am away from my laptop i can't give you an exact answer, however the file size may vary with each picture. Also about the advanced graphics, i guess not to expect too much from the ti-nspire in terms of tilebased mapping, this would be done only after i have completed the foundations for the rest of the game before i even start. and even after that it might not be plausible. But it will have the graphics il1 have already put in which is why it is going to be a semi-graphical game (and you're right it would definitely be the hardest, but im not planning too far down the track sdue to all my other projects which have been halted)
-
Ah ok. I hope one pic is not 1 MB O.O. We never know with TI... I wonder if they can be recalled in a program. Anyway good luck with this project. I hope you can add some graphics without much hassle.

While i havent mademuch progress in increasing my post count, i have made significant progress on the game. the game is now about 41 % complete and that's pretty good considering that it's only been a month since i really started. i would have liked to show progress with some screenshots but as im a away from my laptop i unfortunately cant convince you all that i have actually made progress.
i have created the home where you sleep and get messages (messages completed)
the building in which you work and get promoted in your job (completed
the uni in which you build up your strenght and intelligence (completed)
the bank (completed)
i still have the casino, a fast food restaurant and a few more shops
it is based around the original Stick RPG avaiable some where here... http://www.xgenstudios.com/play/stickrpg
wow i just checked it and there is 2 newer versions: stick rpg 2 and stick rpg complete that i hadn't noticed, the version i got (offline version) must be really old.
any that's for progress and when my game is finished it'll be similar but not the same as that as i have already added some of my own ideas into the game...
-
Nice to see you back and nice to see progress ;D
Also I swear I saw that Stick RPG game years ago O.O. It reminded me of GTA2.
Does it means you managed to add some sort of stick graphics?
-
yes the stick game is old but its improved since i last saw it a when i wrote that post above. and no, stick graphics are some way off.
-
about the tnic, dj_omni i checked it and it was 5kb however when i opened it after transferring it to my calculator it was empty except for a graphing window. i may have to try it again
-
You may want to check the news article about TNIC. Someone had a similar problem before, but the solution might be there.
Also 5 KB seems fine I guess.
-
here's a half completed version prototype (sorry for the confusing version numbers)
timrpg v0.1Delta3
-
I finally got time to try this and it seemed interesting to play around with, although I couldn't figure out how to do much. Do you plan to include a readme.txt with next releases (with detailled info on how to play)?
-
yes of course, i am gradually putting a detailed readme in all my games when i have tikme to put them on ticalc.org
sorry as i said it is half finished at the mo
-
BTW, a fullscreen pic on the nspire in 16 level grey would take 300 kb, exactly. Monochrome would be 75 kb.
Of course, compression would vastly improve it. That's not exactly BASIC-friendly, though, unless TI decides to implement JPG support.
-
Whoah, lol necropost willrandship.
The project here is pretty much dead on TI-nspire BASIC. Its future is in Lua, where I can hope to make something more graphical, that's if I can get my understanding of Lua going.
