I was wondering what was the last progress on Zelda? I remember the bombos magic but some screenshots from the TI news conglomerate are down now so I cant post them :(sad.gif

I have all the old pics saved on the harddrive, or i could always make new ones.  As far as progress goes, i have completed the method of keeping track of all keys taken/chests opened/doors unlocked.  Coming up with the idea to use binary to keep track of hundreds of these "events" was the hardest part of this project since the addition of enemies.  ive sorta skipped the overworld for now, but i have a really cool sketch, ill scan it when i have a chance.  :Dbiggrin.gif i have the basic layout for 3/6 dungeons so far.  i have about a half of the first one on the calc so i can quickly debug all of the new dungeon functions (subprgms and new code in major prgms).  The Mersoft Editor saves a lot of time, and i added a few zelda specific functions too.

[offtopic] On Tuesday, ill be leaving for New York for a choir/band field trip. (im in choir.)  We will get to see many sites, including a baseball game and Hairspray.  The only bad part will be the 14 hour bus ride.  :(sad.gif  Me and my friends have prepared for this war by buying some DS games like hunters, mario kart, advance wars, and sonic rush.  Happy Easter everyone!  :lol:laugh.gif  [/offtopic]

I dunno what happened to Spencer's, I dont check MC forums at all much anymore and last time I checked it died, altough it must be a joke. Dragon lance stopped working on Nightmare awakening so I guess for now Crzyrbl one is the only progressing one

yeah when he started it he told me that it was kinda like DLQ but graphical. Thing i noticed tho is that it was much more better in term of features and speed as well ^^, I hope to see it finished

Yeah, well since it will be battles like FF it would be easier to handle enemies :Ptongue.gif. AI is something one must think about for a while, and make it really good.

Yay, im back from NY!  There are no bosses yet but i have some ideas.  One direction i have thought alot about going in involves the snake theme i briefly mentioned in the other omnimaga forum.  If i did, you would not have to worry about it being repeatitive like metriod hunters, because each one would be unique depending on the relic you find in that dungeon.  

If i wanted to, i could have 5 or even more enemies on the screen if i wanted and Link's speed would be unaffected, but the enemies would go slower.

There will be numerous locked doors to enter, chests to open, buttons to press, and switches to toggle.  I will try to extend the hours of gameplay for as long as i can and add some minigames later.

thats really amazing, this engine allow lot of stuff, I had your demo you sent me for like 6 months on my SE, it was really awesome, I hope to see it finished. How much percentage is done on the main engine/enemies so far?

The "main engine" is pretty much finished.  Whenever i add something new, i usually add it to different parts since the engine is universal, which i think is very unique and innovative.  Most of the lastest things added such as doors are added to the prgmZDO, which is activated by pressing 2nd when all enemies are defeated (so the speed is unaffected).  I wont be adding much more enemies than i had before.  All of the ones i have, im happy with except for the sea octo.  i might change him to one of those electic orb things that cling to the walls.  should i make a demo, or do you think it will jynx this?

after fixing several bugs in the door/event detector, the first level has been completed.  All thats left to prgm is the boss and maybe one other well known Zelda enemy...

as for the other five lvls, i hv 2 pretty much planned out.

NEW ENEMY AI ADDED!
its the electric orb enemy i mentioned earlier. i prgmed it while watchin the daily show and the colbert report, so there may be a couple minor bugs.

the good:
it sucessfully clings to whatever is to the left of it and glides along the sides of the walls and objects.  like in other zelda games, if it is gliding on a pot and you destroy the pot, the orb will have nothin to cling to and travel in circles

the bad:
even though the code is pretty small, there is a noticable slow down.  in fact, areas with the orb slow down to the speed of a regular TI-83+.  i dont even want to know how slow it is on one of those...

in light of these shortcomings, their use will now be limited to the outside of boss rooms and will provide a guarenteed drop of a fairy to make boss fights more, um, consistent

hmm does it really run that slow, I would need to see myself. Maybe you could just use that enemy in a few areas, that would still be cool I think and not a big matter since the game in overall run pretty fast

btw, this is not the original code.  i was experimenting with a way to free up the max RAM at any point in time, and a got a RAM clear (kind of ironic really...).  well, lucky i created a backup yesterday and the only code that was lost was the AI for the orbs.  lucky, i remembered it and i was sucessfully reprgmed to what you see now!

Im ditching the whole snake idea and redesigning some of the dungeons.  i have a feeling the bosses i had in mind will be too slow or wont work out.  i have some fresh ideas to add to the idea page eventually.  the first dungeon (which is only 9 screens big w/5 enemies) is gonna be scraped and will become the demo.  in place of the boss ill add a regular enemy with alot of health.  the dungeon that will be replacing the demo will be in the shape of a common item in the dungeon and boss...

Not gonna be able to work on this for a week or so.  School stuff, will be graduating soon.  alot of my free time is going into my java final project.  im in a group of 5 friends and we need to make a graphic working megaman RPG by wednesday.  if as of you know how to use sound in java, send me a pm, we're a little confused (but not as much as our teacher).

Good luck with gratuation and the java project. I didn't learn too much with java in my comp sci class, but we did a final project with a fish type program. We had to learn how everything worked and then modify it to do certain things..

I remember the fish prgm.  i think all java classes are required to do it for the AP test.  I made a pirate fish and my friend made a ninja fish and we battled with them.  i asked about the sound and the teacher knew NOTHING.  he doesnt even know about "throws." luckily, we DID figure out how to make the backgrounds of images transparent, so we dont need any fancy sprite masking.  i could post it, but keep in mind its sorta of a joke.

Although if it was for APs its too late.

I love them fishes, but I didn't do a whole lot with them cause I was taking the Computer Science AB and was more worried about learning data structures and complexity analysis then how to use a Fish API that was referenced in the appendix to the exam.

Thats magicman i think.  Too bad we arent using him, we only have time for 3 "robot masters."  funny story about name "crzyrbl."  He used to label his work "Crazy Penguin," or somethin like that.  I used to label my work as a "Rebel 4 Production."  Anyway...69, if your read this, WE NEED SOME BACKGROUNDS AND BUTTONS FOR THE BATTLES AND QUICK!

problem with the savefile site is that it only lets you upload up to 60mb, the program compresed is about 64mb

wow thats huge O_O hmm thats a big problem then, anyone know a good host that allow uploading files bigger than 64 MB? Otherwise I would say email it to me at o m n i m a g a @ g m a i l . c o m and I will upload it on my UTI webspace. I have 500 MB over here. It will take a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG while to upload at 12 KB/sec tho XDsmiley.gif

oh yeah about that I think I might have found the problem, but its quite annoying cuz you need to send a small bunch of file, archive them, resend another bunch, archive them, etc.

Actually if the person sent the file from his calc to his PC from archive memory using ti connect (and I believe it might do the same with ti graph link) and try to send those to PTI for some reason it doesnt seems to work, so what you need to do is open each of those files, edit them without changing anything (basically add a new linebreak at beginning of program then immediately remove it), then save. Then you should be able to send the files to  PTI without problems. It worked for me. However if you use special chars that only works on OS 1.16 or above those might screw up while editing them in graph link

If you are over a weapon and you press 2nd then exit the menu, whenever you press 2nd, you will use that weapon.  Likewise for Alpha.

btw I tested it on a 84+ and a 83+. When you use a Ti-83+ it runs slow but acceptable. on a 84+ it works perfect and feels like a real >Zelda-game<.

Does anyone still have their TI-connect cd?  I lost mine and if someone could email me the iso thatd be great.  need to load it on to my laptop since I wont have the old computer at college.

I hope this project doesnt die :(sad.gif, if you think about ditching it please at least release what you have, it would be sad to see all this work deleted. I have been looking forward for this game since more than one year

Considering you just did an update the forum will prbly stay here for another two months (I usually delete projects with no news after 2 months of inactivity), I hope you wont give up on it, its a really nice game you have here, of course make sure you focus on school stuff first, and real life ;)wink.gif

Update: I've met some other prgmers at U of I.  One or more of them and myself are going to try to collaborate on a couple projects.  We are going to discuss some ideas for projects and Im gonna propose this one.  Other than that Im still trying to get settled in here, everyday is more busy than the last.
