Title: 100 most important apps and programs
Post by: Happybobjr on June 22, 2010, 02:52:56 pm
OK i have been here for while and have seen many cool programs mentioned such as dawg.
i would like to find what people think are the most important apps and programs.
games can be put too.

I will be extremely mad if you put a junky game you made onto this list just for advertisement.
this will of course be in no particular order.

21) FFTOM2 (I guess I'll go on with massive games, then :P. Keep in mind you can put much less stuff on the calc with those on it). I did not include FFTOM1 because while it is good, it is too hard IMHO so a lot of people won't enjoy it.
22) Desolate
23) Ion, for Ion games that fails under Mirage.
24) The Core Of Light

And now I add:

I do not want to sound rude by saying this but I think that instead of just having DCS7 there it should just be DCS in general because without the other versions that came out before it we would never have DCS7. It doesn't matter either way, just thought I'd put my two cents in :) (Like I said though, it really doesn't matter either way. Not trying to sound rude.)

What did TSE do special? I remember hearing about it years ago on a huge french TI-83+ site

Multitasking, according to the file page (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/165/16537.html) on ticalc.org. It lets you switch between programs you're running.

Also, the actual "shell" part, the GUI called Utopia, is replaceable. For instance, Michael Vincent also wrote a Linux GUI for TSE (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/150/15057.html).

73. Trapped (BASIC game by Builderboy)
74. Trapped (ASM game by JBShaler.)

Both games are totally different and unrelated but they are both great. The first is a puzzle game with enemies and obstacles you need to push and stuff, top-down view. The 2nd is a puzzle with block and stuff you need to push, but it's a spinoff from Block Dude.

Find it and run it on your calc, and you'll get a cookie. :P
Title: Re: 100 most important apps and programs
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on July 21, 2010, 12:53:01 pm
Well the issue is that UTI (where Iambian posted the most) disallow search queries lower than 4 chars and I checked Google and couldn't find anything. I searched for Iambian SST. Any clue of what search string I should use? It's not on ticalc.org nor Omnimaga archives, nor was discussed in its own topic here.

In the IRC logs, all I could find is "[23:00:53] <Iambian> Oh, man. You *really* want me to rework the SST to do Chocolate Rain, don't you?"  in http://netham45.org/irc/EfNet/view.php?log=omnimaga.20100324

EDIT: Wait nvm, it's the E:SoR unused rickroll transition. Last mentionned at http://netham45.org/irc/EfNet/view.php?log=omnimaga.20100221 shortly above geekboy reference to SST
