Title: aeTIos' projects died
Post by: aeTIos on December 12, 2010, 02:10:07 pm
Hi everyone,

unfortunately, my parents forced me to remove all my programs from my calc. i still have some thanks to hide function of DCS (Kerm:  ;D(http://www.omnimaga.org/Themes/default/images/gpbp_arrow_up.gif)!), but most of them are gone. I think this is a good moment to start over with my programming. i am planning an RPG, will post about this later. I will be less active in posting programs, because my parents often take my calc.

I thought it was good to let you know this.

aeTIos

P.S: Of course I stay programming and I'll stay around here.

I'm really sorry to hear this, aeTIos.  You should look into this program: http://brandonw.net/calculators/fake/ (http://brandonw.net/calculators/fake/)  This has saved my calc many times.

I'm sorry to hear. :/ I hate when parents do that. Are you able to backup on places like Mediafire when this happens? Not that Mediafire might be the best idea, though, since anyone can view it, I wonder if there's any other private file storage place online?

I hope you can continue programming in the future and stay around.

THis sucks, I hope they're not like SirCmpwn parents in any cases...

Also just making sure because I saw people in the past that gave up completely on calc programmign after too many resets.

In that case, you should look into msd8x.  This (http://brandonw.net/calcstuff/msd8xNew.zip) verison supports sending applications, such as Fake, and provides a way for you to get programs on and off of your calculator.  I would give a friend your calculator and beg and plead them to take it home and install usb/mds8x on it.
Do you have your calculator's original link cable?
EDIT: Unit<->Unit link cable

If you have your original unit<->unit link cable, then you can splice it together with any usb cable with a female end (KermMartian is cringing as he reads this).  Just cut them each in half and strip the ends, carefully undo the mesh, twist together like colored wires, and thread the meshes together.  Seal it up with elecrical tape or the like and you are good to go.  You want to make sure that you use the mini-A end of your cable.

I have an usb adapter, so it would work as well I think. gonna re-format my flash drive...

Make sure you format it as FAT, and you should be good.  It should be under 2 GB (it might be 4 that is the usb8x limit, but I'm not sure).

It is already FAT, but there are still some MSD8X bugs afaik, like responding very slow and (i think) getting calc in ptt mode (you can only shut down and alpha, 2nd press)

Do you have all of your RAM?  I've had problems, too, but it generally works okay, and I have an 84+ BE with missing RAM and the LCD glitch.

That sucks. I hope this doesn't end up like SirCmpwn. What made them make you delete this stuff all of a sudden?

@SirCmpwn: don't you mean the male end of a normal USB cable?
I always start laughing when a "male" or "female" cable is mentioned. XD

Edit: ninja'd three times

Lol XD
aeTIos, you can always control usb8x through TI-Basic and just pull your files without the interface of msd8x.

I don't think it will work with apps, though.
