Title: Bad News
Post by: SirCmpwn on July 05, 2010, 04:59:43 am
Hi folks.  This has been a pretty bad week for me.
First, my parents went on another tyrade.  Yay me.
Second, my entire calculator's memory cleared.  My last backup is about two weeks old.  Ever since I started keeping things in ROM, I backed up less often.
Third, I don't have a way to transfer anything back to my calculator.  Its pure tibasic for a while.  I may try hand coded hex asm.
Fourth, this means Advance Wars TI is probably cancelled.  I have already thought of a new contest entry, but I can't start on it until the 19th, which means it may not get finished in time.  Luckily, I think I can pull it together, it's a bit easier than the Advance Wars TI.

I'm sorry to hear :(

They are really pissing me off.

On a side note, I am sorry but I may not be able to talk to you on a regular basis for at least two weeks, because half of my work schedule was shifted to early morning-afternoon rather than late afternoon-late evening, meaning I can no longer stay up until 2-3 AM like I used to do. I don't know in which timezone the place where you are right now is, but that may not help either...

That's horrible :( Maybe you could code with Wabbit? You wouldn't need a link or an Internet connection (except maybe to download released betas to work on?), and your parents couldn't block you from that, could they?

Do you still have Mosaic? Maybe with a bit more work you could start programming ASM on-calc :)

Anyway, good luck (with everything).

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just no.  I cannot believe that your parents did this!  Why must they do this to you?  You've spent countless hours into calc development and just like that it's gone.  Gone.  Advanced Wars TI is gone.  Forever.  I can't believe your parents would just do this.  This is awful.  Sir, I'm sure you're used to this by now, but I'm sure not. I'll feel the loss of this project and the progress every-time I look at these topics.  This is not cool.  Please consider wiping all the MEM off your parents work computers for me.  I may not mean that, but...

Stay strong Sir.  Pull it together and keep being your own awesome self. :)

umm, from the way he put it last night, it sounded like /he/ was the one to erase all memory.  He was playing with switching memory banks in axe, and it completly screwed up.  His parents did something completely different (iirc it was like taking away flash drives and such).  If you want to see the conversation it would have been at about 4:30-5ish last night (morning?)

Ah, ok.  I guess I read it wrong.  Still, stay strong Sir. :)

Oh wait I misread the first post. I thought it was his parents that cleared his RAM. Still sucks, though. I hate to lose progress on stuff, even if a few hours of work only x.x

How can mem-bank switching mess up that badly? Too bad... :(
Well, hopefully you're other entry will be good, too :)
Stay strong! :P
