CMonster 152
« on: May 10, 2013, 12:32:47 pm »
Has anyone tried it out? It seems Patrick Davidson's made the first (?) full assembly game for the CSE, unfortunately i don't have one to test it out.

Edit: Oh, and of course the source is included :D

I don't have a CSE either, but do you have a link the game?

Well I wanted to try it but I don't know where the executable is. The zip is filled with asm, bat, gst and i files.
I own: 83+ ; 84+SE ; 76.fr ; CX CAS ; Prizm ; 84+CSE
Sorry if I answer with something that seems unrelated, English is not my primary language and I might not have understood well. Sorry if I make English mistakes too.

Pat Milheron actually made the first ASM game for the 84+CSE, which is a port from his TI-86 Centipede game, but he never released it.

I would like to try CMonster, but there's no executable available D:

You might have to ask him, but again maybe he was suggested to post a topic there in an IRC channel, since he tends to rarely post on forums.

You should just be able to assemble it, then. I've gotta go now but if no one's done it by the time i get back i'll assemble it myself. I hadn't seen the topics on Cemetech/TI-Planet, i'll check them out :)

Yeah, although most people probably prefer to not have to go that route for a game. :P

You might have to ask PatrickD's permission, though, in case he doesn't want other people to post copies of the game.

Yeah, seems like all I have to do is double-click the build.bat ... provided I have all the dependencies which seems to be brass and var8x if I understand correctly, but I am not even sure and I am too lazy to find out anyway if all the hassle is to test a breakout game.

Yeah, he didn't even want to post a copy himself so I doubt he'd like others to post copies :P jk

Yeah for me build.bat didn't create any 8xp/8ck file, it just created another folder with half of the source files. I guessed I missed something.

EDIT Thanks to Lionel, there is an executable of version 196 for now: http://tiplanet.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=140173#p140173

And a screenshot (although I suck at the game lol)

The executable is available at PAD's website.

Pretty good game, surprised he is still calc coding lol.

Indeed, I tried it, 6 is very fast :P
However, I was quite disappointed by the rectangles, I was expecting beautiful sprites :P
Also, pressing up when the ball hits the paddle seems to trigger pause, for some reason.

Indeed. I think it has been 15 years now. But again Pat Milheron ported his TI-86 Centipede clone to the 84 Plus C Silver Edition that many years after the original and we have guys like AJOrians still making Nspire games, even though they have been around for 15 or more years. So it isn't that surprising to see people still code for calcs that long after starting. In my case I started almost 12 years ago and Kerm 14.

Note: The fonts on the title screen are NES fonts stretched up.
