Title: I am a bot, but I still seem to be able to post in the news section
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on August 07, 2011, 02:36:13 am
After harassing Juju in real life so he posts more news, he nyancat'd and rickrolled me with his phone so I decided I would leave it to the entire staff to decide what they do with news, but now that it seems possible for certain post groups to submit news directly here or for people to volunteer to join a news posting group, I decided that I would try to give an hand for that job. This was my favorite job here before, but I do not want to be part of a website staff anymore, so don't expect me to do much else on the site.

Anyway, as people have noticed in the past two weeks, I am effectively back, although my activity is way lower than it used to be right now. I will try to at least focus on the Nspire-related news, as the language barrier often pose problems for those. Besides that I hope I can do a video for the Omnimaga 10th anniversary, which might mainly focus on the calculator games that were released under our name (from the programming team) since September 1st 2001. This might cause my news posting rate to remain low for a while, as I take time to get one screenshot for each of the 112 calculator games that the Coders of Tomorrow released in the past decade.

(Note: The IRL rickroll and nyancating from juju did happen for real.)

UPDATE (Aug. 9) (Juju): Moved out of News, DJ_O having quitted Omnimaga, he won't post news for a while anymore.

I was joking. It's in reference to that spambot news post a few weeks ago (and another one today) and the recent re-opening of the news sections to regular members with a certain amount of posts (I think 5000 or 9000 right now), although idk if that's how it will remain.

why is the title I am a bot?
Because he really is... Duhn dun dun!!!

I'd love to see the Omni 10th anniversary video.  Also, Nspire news would be great in English.  :)

I saw it IRL, DJ_O is really a bot operated by a certain Kévin. (j/k)

Anyway, good luck for the 10th anniversary video :)

And I had the idea to recruit some of our members to help the staff post news, they would be a new usergroup, much like the current CoT group but with no powers but to post in News. And DJ_O would be one.

Also real life rickrolling/nyancating is the best.

I would rather prefer that this group has a dark color if you make it, though. I don't want to receive 10 pms a day asking for a date or begging for news because of a pink name <_<, like back when I had a blue nick)

Yeah, dark purple as you suggested the other time.

Yeah, kinda like the former non-staff IRC chanops group or the 2005-06 elite group in which everyone with a featured/major project was in

Ten years! Good luck on that anniversary video!
why is the title I am a bot?
Because he really is... Duhn dun dun!!!
D: EDIT: Come to think of it, his nick does look suspiciously like a robot model number. A TI-DJ_O, perhaps? <_<

Great DJ.
Posting TI-Nspire related news is nearly a full-time job, the community is quite active :)

Yeah it's insane. THings died downa  bit recently but they picked up again now.

The main issue is our Nspire owners either don't speak French or don't have enough time to take on such job. The other french people like Juju generally do not own a TI-Nspire.
