I just felt like plugging IRC, the chatroom that Omnimaga.org has assocaited with it.
It's available here: http://www.omnimaga.org/irc which is also accessable from the top toolbar, or you can download a client such as mIRC(shareware) at www.mirc.com or X-Chat 2(Free) from silverex.org and configure them to connect to:
Zathur.Dragon-fire.org
Port 6667 (6697 for SSL)
The channel is #Omnimaga
:D

More cannibalism ensues
-
x-chat 2 is pretty damn cool
-
I use chatzilla works real well.
-
I use Pidgin :p
It serves to practically anything.

Wow, I need to try out their IRC client..Pidgin does rule though.
-
Opera has built in chat support. ;)
-
Yeah, I don't like it though, same for Trillian, I always prefered X-Chat 2 and mIRC. My X-Chat 2 never worked well though so I prefer MIRC to it and use X-Chat 2 for logging.

Chatzilla = Mozilla..
-
Chatzilla is an extension though and when I used it I often had firefox end up taking 500 MB of RAM to itself to finally freeze x.x. I had to shut down both Chatzilla and Firefox every 20 minutes or so, else I had to make sure to not open any webpage when using it. x.x

Mozilla had it installed in their package originally (dont know now), firefox may have (it does not now, as you said an extension). But wasnt that a long time ago? I remember it, just did not think you used it in a year +
-
I used Chatzilla about 4 years ago and did until 3 years ago, then I moved to mIRC. Back then it was an extension, but I,m unsure for now.
I didn't knew Mozilla even existed anymore though, considering Firefox pretty much replaced it years ago
-
I guess it was replaced with SeaMonkey (http://www.seamonkey-project.org/), and here is a quote from here (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/browsers.html):
The Mozilla Suite is the original all-in-one Internet application created by Mozilla. This application is no longer supported and we recommend that you don't download it for daily use. Information about it is still available though for historical purposes. View the Mozilla Suite page and release history in the archives.
And it looks like they still use ChatZilla (http://www.seamonkey-project.org/doc/features) for it too.
-
Aah ok. I have one thing to say about Mozilla: I loved it when they installed it at school back then and I liked how it used the netscape skin (which I liked a lot). But damnit that opening logo was so friggin detailled!!! XD
(http://www.andrew-turnbull.net/mozilla/mozilla-splash.png)
-
That was a great Logo, I really liked it! Seriously!
-
I personally didn't at all x.x, i mean they should have added more details at least x.x. Oh well, at least the browser was pretty good, I was so happy to finally be able to switch away from IE without having to use Netscape which was slow
-
Hey I know this topic is old but we now have public logs from netlog45. http://netham45.org/IRC/
-
yeah I know, I might re-add it to my X-chat client /whois info, since my old logs are down and may not return due to problems with Apache. Actually the channel is still logged, but the logs are offline
-
So, right now, Unitedti.org is down, along with their IRC. For the time being, you can use netham45.org as your server to get back to Omnimaga.
-
Or just use EFNet. http://www.ticalc.org/community/irc/
-
I don't like having a botnet but moving to Efnet has always been one of our options since the old board shutted down and Dragon-Fire was being abandonned, but then Netham45 was made admin and things went back on track. However, if something wrong had to occur to Dragon-Fire or if downtimes increased more and more, we alerady have a botnet in the works and shell accounts to move to Efnet. The only problem is that during summer my ISP gives shitty internet connection and I have no clue why.
We moved to Dragon-Fire back then to have full control of our channel (back then nobody at Omnimaga could host bots to form a botnet together) and in the process we instantly went from an average of 3 people to 10 (excluding bots/services), but these days a lot of #omnimaga people visits #tcpa, #cemetech and #tiasm now and #omnimaga is the only active TI channel on Dragon-Fire anymore.
-
Zathur/UnitedTI appear to be back up, I'm not quite sure what happened.
-
It seems that every time I try to get on IRC, this host shuts down XD
-
The hosting providers must be scared of you :P
-
And what I might say? XD
-
Offer them a cookie. Everyone loves cookies.
-
I'll take a cookie!
-
It appears both netham45.org and unitedti.org servers are down for irc is there a third alternate?
-
I doubt it, but for me it appears my internet was down cuz I couldn't connect to Efnet and AfterNET either.
Now all works for me, though
-
Seems to be down again?
-
Seems to be down again?
It's down for me as well.
-
I think it's the dragonfire network
I can't seem to connect either
and who is teh DON ? :P
-
I can't get on UTI either, so it probably is dragonfire.
-
I personally think we should go to efnet I've never seen them down.
-
That sounds ok to me.
Any server that at least stays up is good.
-
Yeah, it's down, nitacku; if you didn't catch that last part, it was me messing with php =P
-
Really the only reason were on unitedti.org is because netham is a irc cop there.
-
Yeah I also noticed it was down more and more often. UTI site is down even more too lately. However for efnet we have yet to get a fully secure botnet working
-
Well #tcpa has bots that work.
-
I know but I don't want to use #tcpa and #calcgames botnet, simply because then most #tcpa operators will have direct control on our channel, so if one of them is banned he can simply unban himself. On top of that they would have even greater power than me in my own channel. We used to use #tcpa botnet back in 2005, we moved to Dragon-FIre because i knew nobody who could run another botnet back then and I wanted greater control on my channel
-

SInce we totally abuse our power like that, and would even care enough to do so...
> On top of that they would have even greater power than me in my own channel.
As do the network administrators, helpers, and about 800 other people.
> We used to use #tcpa botnet back in 2005, we moved to Dragon-FIre because i knew nobody who could run another botnet back then and I wanted greater control on my channel
So "offline server" means "greater control?"
-
Unitedti.org down again join netham45.org.
-
thanks for that, I couldn't get it to connect
-
hawhaw
-
ugh still down. Downtimes tend to get longer and longer now that AlienCC is no longer really part of the TI community and doesn't check Nosolution.net server often it seems. It could be worse, though, as it's vacations, meaning maybe he isn't even home to fix it atm. Fortunately there's the alt server Noahbaby94 mentionned, though
-
UTI and dragon-fire are back up, but channel services are still out.
-
They're back now.
-
Whoohoo!
-
Well, I guess all this downtime doesn't really matter now, as #omnimaga has returned to Efnet.
-
yeah :/ oh well at least I found a reliable way to stay connected to Efnet.
-
Ok good. Usually you need to try each servers one after another.
-
I just needed to stick with a IRC specific Client, instead of using Pidgin
-
Irssi is far superior.
-
I don't really care
