I'm a Review Editor with Manning Publications and will soon start a review of a book on programming TI 83+/ TI 84+ calculators. This is internal, technical review - sort of a peer review. If you are using these calculators or are planning to (experienced users and newbies are both welcome) and you would like to participate, please PM or email me.
Questions welcome!

Is this a spambot or actual request?

It's an actual request.
-
Just checked with Christopher Mitchell (A.K.A KermMartian). This was apparently posted by the company that will be publishing his TI-BASIC book. In other words, it's legitimate.
EDIT: heh, he beat me to the reply.
-
Oh, ok. Sorry for doubting. I heard that spambot these days were getting better... O.o
So, what do we have to do?
-
You would just reply by email to him if you're interested. Keep in mind that PMs are 5+ posts, so the guy from Manning can't reply.
And it is for Christopher's book?
-
You can send me an email or PM saying that you are interested. Please include your email and real name in both cases. If you feel like it you can add a few words about your level of expertise. After that - nothing much... I will send you the official invite when the review starts (probably in a week or so). You can also whitelist our domain so that nothing gets caught in the spam filter.
-
Oh, it seems I can't send PMs so please remember to include your email address when sending me a PM.
edit: thanks Juju!
-
At first I thought somebody was planning to write a book competing against Kerm's/Christopher O.O, glad I saw Kerm's post below, else I was actually planning to bring it up to him. :P
As for PMs you need 5 posts to send one, due to spam protection. People will need to include their e-mail as you say, or another solution could be Cemetech's PM system.
Also good luck for the book! Will it be available for sale to people living outside United States too?

Manning books are available through our web site, Amazon, Safari, etc. As for book stores - it depends on the country.
-
I might check at the local book store when it gets released. Are your books translated in other languages, such as French?
-
Normally no, but if a foreign (French) publisher shows interest - why not?

Ok thanks. Most stores here sells French books, but if it's available online I'm probably gonna get my hand on it. (I don't mind if it's written in English)

So when does this start? I'm curious.
-
It should start later this month.
-
Ok, thanks. I saw you had said that it could have been later that week, so I was wondering what had happened. :)
-
So what would we be participating in exactly?

Yeah, review dates often move :ninja:
So what would we be participating in exactly?
As I said, it is an internal peer review. Its purpose is to help the author and the publisher to make the book better. You participate by reading an early version of the manuscript (in PDF) and giving us your opinion on it by answering a set of questions.
