Next Nspire release

My Nspire CX-CAS was stolen about a week ago. I am looking at getting a new one but have no idea about when/if the next version is coming out. I don't want to buy one and have the next model be released the next month. Does anyone know when the next model will be released? I have a ti-89 to use until I get another Nspire, I was just wondering if it would be worth it to wait for the next model or if I should just get another Nspire now.

Ouch sorry to hear about that. :/ As far as I know, however, no new Nspire was announced recently. In fact, for now it's always better to get an Nspire CX from 2011 than one from 2013, because you can install Ndless on it and more programs. However, a year ago there were rumors about a TI-Nspire Premium. Not sure if that is true, since some of them were posted on April Fools Day.

I would just get a new Nspire CX CAS and make sure to keep it safe, not in an unnatended pen case or backpack.

That mention of the CX Premium appeared as an unrelated popup (e-mail notification) during a real, live TI webinar, so it's hard to think that it's fake :)
However:
* there's no telling when such a model might happen, of course. TI didn't target this school year, so the earliest we could see a new high-end TI graphing calculator on the marketplace would be next spring/summer;
* IIRC, the webinar was before the advent of the HP Prime. I have no insight on how, or whether, TI EdTech's strategy would be modified by the Prime.

Oh right, I forgot about the webinar. I guess it's definitively gonna happen. I have to wonder if that won't be some sort of Nspire enabled for third-party dev but with much stronger lockdown on teacher mode and switching from non-CAS to CAS OS or at least a much more powerful Nspire with no ASM/C, but much faster Lua, either through better processor speed or something in attempt to compete against HP PPL? We can only hope, but for the time being I would advise against waiting for it, because it could take a few years before it comes out and even if it doesn't, it's most likely gonna cost outrageous prices.

Agreed. The most likely outcome is both "outrageously expensive" and "outrageously locked-down".

Yeah, I hope it's only one of both tho. But regardless of what happens, I am unsure if I would add such calc to my collection unless BASIC was improved to the same extent as HP PPL or at the very least brought back all missing 68K commands including picture drawing. The thing is that out of the most recent calcs, the Nspire is one of the calcs I use the least often. I'm more on my HP Prime, 84+CSE, 84+ and PRIZM and I already have two other Nspires.
