well since I'm having a bit of a money crunch right now, I figured I'd sell my 89ti. I don't really ever use (actually I haven't used it in nearly a year), and I need the money more than I need the calc, so I'm selling it. It works fine, just needs some batteries (not included :D). The only problem is, is that the case that covers it doesn't slide off easily. Not really a technical issue or anything, but I thought I'd let you know.
I don't have a starting price mainly because I don't know how much they're worth, but if you're interested, just post here or pm me or something and we'll negotiate a price.

I'm not sure about this....
but if I'm competing with the other users, i can make a bid for $35 USD
-
lol it's not really a competition...but I am going to take the highest "bid".
Alright I wrote you down for $35.

dude! those TI-89's are amazing, especially if you are going to be taking college math/chemistry/physics classes. You'll regret selling it if you ever have to take those sort of classes in college. I use mine all the time in my classes and I wouldn't switch back to my 84+SE ever (except for creating games). The TI-89 has a huge advantage over an 83/84 in that it has a CAS system, does unit conversions, and has "pretty print" which allows you to see exactly how the calculator interpreted your input. The larger display means you can fit more notes on the screen as well ;)
-
lol well if you put it that way... I only have to take up to Cal II, and I can't even use a calc in my Cal I class. Also I only have to take physics basic or whatever. So for most of that stuff I don't really need an 89, and right now I need the money more than I need the calc :/
-
I would have bought it if I didn't alerady got a 89t (providing you would have shipped internationally)
Altough, per the Omnimaga site rules, I would rather have the transaction occur via a safe place like Ebay since we don't hold responsible if anything bad occured.
-
I made it through calculus in college with a TI-83+ SE, most teachers I had just discussed how to operate the functions (by each chapter) on the z80 line..
-
don't worry Omni, this is a private affair. Omnimaga won't be involved :P
so, bidding closed? :D
-
I'll challenge your bid meta with 40$.
-
45$!

So did I. I bought my TI-89t for Differential Equations, and that's when I learned how useful it could have been :P
-
Heh yay for competition!!
Current bid: $45 by metagross.
I'm going to close the bidding on wednesday at midnight (Central time). Not sure exactly what time that is for you guys, but I think it's GMT - 6:00 or something (not sure if that's the correct terminology).
-
man, wednesday? I'm totally gonna be outbid. still, that's about 53 hours to go.
heck, i went out and got stamps for payment, already o_O
-
lol if there isn't any other bids withing the next 24 hours, then I'll close it. But if there is still some bidding, thing I'd like to keep it open until wednesday (that and I can't get to the post office until then either :))
-
I'm kind of up in the air about this one. I'd like a titanium... but I already have a TI-89 HW1. :/
-
I don't own a titanium. but I've seen loads of awesome games for them, plus I want to expand on my calc paraphenalia.
-
I own a v200 myself but it's not allowed on any test which sucks.
-
Yeah there are a lot of games for the 89ti (amazing games I might add), which is why I bought it in the first place, but I could never get over my 84+SE.
-
bidding is closed!
-
Lol woot. Alright the winner is.... metagross!!! for $45. I'll pm you with my info, and you pm me with yours.
-
can't you log onto IRC? the chat link ot the top of the page. easier to talk to each other that way.
-
This would have went for much more on ebay...
-
which is why i'm glad enough to snag it here :P

eh and it would have been a lot more effort. It'll be easier this way and it helps out another omni member. win-win
-
plus, we MIGHT skirt the postal service, for some coinciding reasons :P
-
I'm happy to say the transaction was completed!
It looks so awesome......
I cannot wait till I get batteries :)

Yep, hope you like it. If there happens to be any problems, just let me know. There shouldn't be, but you never know.

They're great calcs, for both gaming and math. But there is one thing you should keep in mind when using it for class: don't rely too heavily on its symbolic manipulations/calculations. I've known a lot of people whose (math) test grades suddenly dropped after they got an 89 :(

I had the same problem. It loosens up eventually :)
-
lol i guess I didn't use it enough :/
-
I like my 89t, my only gripe is that it's a PITA to use the BASIC editor, because when you have been used to a ABCDEFG keypad layout and end up with one where certain letters are scrambled it's annoying to have to go correct typos every few seconds, but you can get used to it I think. THe TI-85 also had slightly different letter locations

sweet, virgin calculator!
....
ok, that was sort of weird. anyway, yeah. even using this calculator is a pain because I'm not sure HOW to use it. my firts 89T EVAR and somesuch....
though, with help, i was able to get and run some neat games on it. so in a few years if i ever tire of the 84+, it might be interesting to try out the 89t
