Over 1mb... More like over 3mb!
Yeah, so I downloaded this and was getting ready to send it to my calc to test this great game out when I remembered that there was a video of it in action. (I was installing something so I couldn't watch the video at the time I had downloaded it) At first I was amazed that someone had created such a huge game, then I thought I had better check that video. It's a good thing that I checked the video before I attempted to get that thing onto my calc. (if it's even possible)

lol you would have hated me if you sent it first and waited all the time XD

plus I think it only send using an USB cable, because apps over 300 KB huge won't transfer with the old serial cable IIRC. It gives errors at around 300 KB transfered. I never tried with tilp tho, just TI connect and graph link

I can't see the video(no flash), but I'm going  to guess that it's a rickroll, right?

Ha! I knew what that was, because I just watched the video!
Funny idea for a realsound app though, maybe I'll use this on some people I know

I must be one of the few people to like this song. Altough not as much as I used to since I went more into trance then eurodance and happy hardcore and then it played almost every day at work and now the internets meme :P

Seriously, the only song I can think of that I like less than that is "Chocolate Rain." That damn thing is five minutes long, everyother line is the same and it has this horribly repetitive piano part in the background. Essentially the entire song could be about two lines long.

never really listened to it much, only the first minute, and I didn't liked it

Quote from: Rick Astley
We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've know each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
But you're too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
(Repeat Chorus)
Give you up, give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give,
Never gonna give, give you up
(Last four lines repeat)
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
(Chorus times three)

I do like it too. I don't like Rick Astley's other work very much, but I just love this song because the music's so pure and his voice's awesome. And the lyrics are so cheesy they're great! :)

I kinda like the song, but the cheezyness kind of ruins it for me, heh.

Yeah it's kinda cheesy. The similar song called Forever And Ever or Together Forever I think by him is cool too but I really don't like his other stuff either. There's nothing worse than "Backstreet Boys - Get Down" for my needs though x.x

really? This sucks, I hope he comes back, but he has been in the community for quite a while actually (2000-2001 and only went inactive one year?) so maybe he's moving on

I was pretty sure that JimE was going to try to enter RS2 in the POTY awards this year, I might be wrong though, and he may have changed his mind.

Could you possibly link usb8x with realsound? Then, you could literally have an .wav player on you calculator!!!

I think the unreleased RealSound 2 has that feature. But JimE seems to have disappeared...

Not to mention if the song is greater than the memory, you have to put it in parts >.<

To get soudn on your calculator you need a 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm adapter, plus the headphones in the 3.5 mm end and plug the 2.5 mm part in the calc after running the sound program (else it freezes until you unplug the adapter). Games with sound are really really rare though and sound is not loud, so it's not really worth it to get an adapter, but maybe in the future more games will use sound.

As for the realsound app I mostly did it for the lulz

Wow, that seems really cool. Is there anyway to compress the songs? Or are they already compressed and still huge?
Title: Re: The most awesome TI-83+ flash app in history
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on September 24, 2008, 06:11:08 pm
idk yet, compression may takes too much processor power, but on a SE calc I'm sure it could be possible. Someone just have to write the algorithm to do it. The song files are compressed but still far much bigger than mp3 files and lower quality too

oh ok.
Title: Re: The most awesome TI-83+ flash app in history

One might be able to compress the songs on an external drive (USB), and the program (realsound2 might do it, idk) would decompress it for use in RAM...

Yeah, he was, he had it rigged up that you could stream music straight from the USB port.  If you want to know the whole story, there is a thread for RS2 here (http://www.revsoft.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=284)
