Title: WFRNG OS Released
Post by: SirCmpwn on November 23, 2010, 05:51:29 pm
Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator OS for the TI-83/84+ Released!
One of the greatest programs to ever grace the world of calculators is the Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator.  It is the pinaccle of gaming excellence and the high point of all TI calculator hacking.  However, although it is amazing, there is one drawback - even though you only use your calculator to play it, your calculator comes with all these other useless features in TIOS, such as math, graphing, and other things that are not WFRNG.  But finally, you can rid yourself of that useless junk by using Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator OS!  WFRNGOS brings all the greatness of WFRNG to your calculator without the need for anything else!  Don't worry - if you ever tire of WFRNG (which you won't), WFRNGOS leaves your archive intact and you can put TIOS right back where it came from, if you choose, leaving all of your programs and apps intact (at least those that are archived).  Don't forget to send yourself the original WFRNG when you've restored TIOS!
Ready to unleash the power of Wacky Fun Random Numbar Generator OS onto your calculator?  You can download it here: Download (http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=5429.0;attach=4612)

Please be *careful* when installing this.  Be sure to back up your calculator and install the right version for you.

Hmm, shouldn't it be spelled 'numbar' in the screenshot?

Elsewise, nice job!

I have found a bug. Copied from cemetech:
Okay, I tried the OS and found a huge bug in the OS. First of all, when you guess the correct number, it turns the contrast up, and then it says play again. But no matter what number you choose, it won't do it the second time. The contrast stays way up and such. Also, is there a source anywhere?

That's annoying >.>
Also, one can guess 0 or 31-99 and it won't complain. :(
Otherwise, :P

O                M                 G                    !                       !                           !
Once we figure out how to make nspire oses, wfrng will be the first one.

That made my day. You should fix the bugs and when you are certain it works on all calc models (tested on hardware), upload to ticalc.org. (TI-83 Plus Operating Systems) ;D

As if WFRNG OS for PC wasn't good enough, now the OS is ported to calcs XD

I'm disappointed.

The messages in WFRNG aren't supposed to be a weird mix of uppercase, lowercase and numbers. Have none of you played versions other than the terrible TI-83 BASIC version on ticalc? D:

the original 86 version doesn't have mixed because the 86 has loxercase ON BY DEFAULT, but we all know TI is crazy.  :P

I felt that this version reflects the true spirit of WFRNG.

I agree.

WFRNG is not just a program, it's an operative system :P

It's because the original was all lowercase. The original is the 86 version from 2000, so Sir stays as true to the original as possible.

Any luck fixing problems, sir, btw?

I haven't had chance to look into them.  The only one that really matters is the contrast one-you can enter numbers outside of 1-30 in the original.
Title: Re: WFRNG OS Released
Post by: DJ Omnimaga on November 24, 2010, 06:07:53 pm
You mean you can enter numbers outside that range in the original?
Title: Re: WFRNG OS Released
Post by: calcdude84se on November 24, 2010, 06:09:12 pm
You can, but it says "Invalid number" or something to that effect, IIRC.

WFRNGos is great, TIcould take lessons from you!
Title: Re: WFRNG OS Released

It was hard enough getting a good random seed without worrying about ranges of numbers :P I can live with having the user input 99.  I can't live with screwing the contrast over, though.  That will be fixed.

Oh ok I see now. :P

Good luck and I hope it works on all calc hardware!

WFRNG OS is on ticalc.org, marking the first addition to the TI-83+ Family OS category in a year and a half.  It is also one of only four files in that category.  Download it here (http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/433/43331.html).

WOOHOO! But you should also include the original readme and maybe description to keep it true to the tradition ;D

EDIT: ...the fuck?? http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/fileinfo/433/43337.html

Everytime a WFRNG clone comes out, another guessing game arrives. :P

I noticed that as well, it freaked me out a bit :P
Title: Re: WFRNG OS Released

That said, I think the last time, it was by Snake_X. For some reasons, he uploaded a guessing game along with the WFRNG BASIC Nspire clone. :P

But yeah you should maybe include the original readme. It's like the funniest part of WFRNG ;D (although just the OS form of your versions makes it extremly epic in some ways :P)

I'll eventually post an update that includes it :)
