Title: Getting Geometry and Physium? [solved]
Post by: Spyro543 on April 29, 2011, 06:24:48 am
My Casio fx-9860G Slim just came yesterday!!!  :w00t: :hyper: :o ;D

I can't find download links for these Geometry and Physium app-ins. :banghead:

All I can find are instructions on how to install them on the SD card version of the 9860.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

If you haven't been to this page then you can (maybe) find it here. https://edu.casio.com/download_service/download/category.php (https://edu.casio.com/download_service/download/category.php).  Go to the fx-9860 series section and select Add-in Software.
However, you would see that there aren't any actual links to the add-ins (they appear to be locked), it looks like you need to register an account and your calculator to get to those items.  I'm not quite sure about that but hopefully it works.

And don't worry, this board is for anything and everything Casio that isn't directly related to the hacking discussion.

The one thing about Casio is that they restrict all of their software to people who own their calcs. I had this same issue when I wished to download the fx 9860g SDK to code for the Prizm.

Now that I have Geometry and Physium, I tried transferring them to my calc.

So I open up Casio FA-124 and drag the GEOMETRY.g1a and PHYSIUM.g1a files to the fx-9860 window. I get an error message that says the file includes an invalid extension.  :banghead:

When I click the Establish connection button, it says "No more open file."  ??? Lolwut?

I got these files from the CD that came with my calc, so shouldn't it work? ???

P.S. The window title says "fx-9860" with no G on the end. Is that a problem?

So, you need to click on the kind of book with a green pen on the right window, and then you right click on 'Default' and 'Import', in the same window, and then you can choose the extension.

The only files you can drag/drop on FA-124 are .g1r ;) ! (For every other extension, you have to do as described above)

Do your computer detect your calculator ? Has it automatically installed the drivers ? Otherwise it's normal that you get the 'No more open file' message =/

I just keep getting the balloon that says something about the hardware not being installed correctly. It always brings up the "New Hardware" wizard, and I really don't need that becuase I already have the program. ???

P.S. Where is Import?

I don't remember how I solved this 'New Hardware' problem but I remember I had it too, I will check !

And for the 'Import'

Edit: I have checked for the drivers, you just need to install the last version of FA-124, you can find it here (Because the version on the CD they give you is an old one =/) :
http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/logiciels/voir_un_logiciel_casio.php?logiciel=Fa_124_pour_Graph_USB_logiciel_transfert&showid=16 (http://www.planet-casio.com/Fr/logiciels/voir_un_logiciel_casio.php?logiciel=Fa_124_pour_Graph_USB_logiciel_transfert&showid=16)

I think you can take any of the files ;) ! You just install it, and even if it won't tell you anything, the drivers will be installed too !

It's in French. I can't even find the Download link.

EDIT: Chrome translated it. Now I'll download it...

EDIT2: When I click the Connect button I get this:

My calc is connected to my computer and on its screen it says "Receiving..."

Perhaps you need to change the parameters oncalc, in the Main Menu, go to 'Link', and the parameters should be USB/On/Memory, I hope it works like that, otherwise I don't understand O_o ...

I found some tutorials in the past on the casiokingdom tutorials page (http://www.casiokingdom.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=list_pages_categories&cid=5) (tho I guess you've seen those already, seeing as you apparently registered there...
http://www.casiokingdom.org/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=8 was really helpful

And yeah, when it says 9860 in FA-124 it means the whole series, iirc.  It worked for a hacked-up 9750 so it should work for something explicitly a 9860 ;)

The 9860g slim actually looks pretty epic...personally I wouldn't mind having one.  It looks to me like everything's compatible, except it doesn't have an SD card which fa-124 fills the slot for anyway.

The problem with the Slim, though, is that OS 2.0 was never released for it, for unknown reasons. Basically you won't ever get string support and such things on your calc if you get it instead of the 9860G or 9860GII. Don't ask me why Casio did that.
