Hmm interesting. Are you sure you got permission from the authors to share all of them though? Most people usually don't mind, but some people might prefer that their add-ins remains exclusive to their site or the sites they uploaded it on.

Other than that nice collection and welcome to the forums :)

It includes some of Casio's add-ins, and those can't be redistributed. I haven't checked the licenses of the other programs, but there's probably a few of them that state that the program shouldn't be distributed.

The download links were removed because the compilations were found to be in violation of the copyrights of one or more of the authors of the software contained therein based on the information provided.

Yeah, some of those files cannot be redistributed. Here at Omnimaga we encourage respect of the licenses and stuff like that. So, sorry, Helder, I have to hide your links.

Have a good day though. :)

I don't care my programs being shared on any programming site, but one of them is an early alpha version, that is not ready to be shared yet :s ! ... I mean, you can share it, but there's no interest and it does not show the quality of the final production :p !

Edit: Actually, there are 3 programs of mine, and all three are betas ... :D

@thomatos I would like to try your addins, then I give you my feedback
if you want you can send me a PM

I will not add to this pack, as the links to it were removed

This is an excellent example of why you should post your source code with your binaries in an open source forum.
1)People wont assume its a final release.
2)you get feedback for improvements
3)Others can port your code to newer calculators, while you left for bigger and better things.

Case in point:
If Mraklopaz did not leave his source code for nDoom we would  seen it in color on the TI-NSpire CX and
his name goes on as the original author - looks good on a resume to me !!!

How many of those 9860 programs listed bove will be ported to the Prizm ?
Last time I was on CasioKingdom not may addin programs came with source.

I'M really happy Mraklopaz left the source before leaving. I noticed more people do that since the past few years, but I remember back in 2003-05 when many calc projects would die the author would leave with his entire source code and data, then eventually lose it due to losing his old hard drive or something.

Nobody in calculator communities makes monnay with its programs, so why close the sources ?
Open source is good for the community. We only work for fun, and your sources can help someone in the world.
Always give your sources !

CasioKingdom may close one day, and a lot of programs are only there. This pack is a good backup.

Helder7,
it is a good idea to make such collection. It would be worth if you could also periodically check for new version of each addin and update your package. :-)
And of course you (or anybody else) have my permission to use my addins for such collection.

Well, I think juju might want to look this over again. If they are all from casio kingdom, it may be a very good idea to back them up on another server.

@admin: Do we have to have the permission of the author before giving a download link even if he is MIA/not programming anymore?

the casio kingdom only opens with proxy --> http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/3779/semttulo1os.jpg

the system of registrations/password recovery does not work ...

casio kingdom belongs to a buyer and seller of domain names and websites... at any time can be sold again and goes offline...

I have entered into contact with the current owner, but he ignored my email... the website owner has about 200 domains and some sites only to sell

would be the best, make a backup of all files, perhaps create a new site similar to CK

I have a server, and have knowledge of web development... I can easily make a site similar to CK and without using the old PHPNUKE... will be safer if use vbulletin

if there is anyone else who wants to help this project, I will proceed

I'll say that casiokingdom works for me (except for the registration system and etc), but yeah the site's kind of hosed if the admins can't (or won't) log on and fix it. :/  Is the FTP broken as well?

I don't know about the FTP, but the bad thing about casio kingdom is that it has only 1 admin who has been MIA since late 2010 (actually this is the second time he has been MIA, early 2008-mid-2009 he was also MIA).

EDIT: didnt see this post, forgot to refresh:

I'll start working on it this weekend

I accept suggestions for a domain name

I was thinking about something like:

casio-scene.com

casioscene.com (I think it is ugly without - )

casiodev.com

...

Title: Re: Pack all Addins for fx9860 and Prizm
Post by: flyingfisch on January 02, 2012, 04:01:51 pm
Is .com or .org cheaper? I forget. Because .org sounds nice too. And it would be non-profit, right?

Ideas for a name:

casio-base.org
casiobase.org
casiodev.org sounds good and so does casio-scene. I agree, casioscene doesnt look as good. ;)

I have hosting too, if that might help. IIRC, .org is 30 cents cheaper than .com and .net.

I already have hosting...  :P

I'm still undecided between
casio-scene.com  and

casiodev.org

but I think the casio-scene.com is the most extensive, the other is a bit more limited

for me .com and .org cost the same (9.99$), I register my domains in name.com because godaddy does not accept unverified paypal accounts

Are you guys trying to setup a backup of Casiokingdom or trying to start a Casio files archive like ticalc.org?

I think it might be fine to re-host the CK files if the site risks shutting down, so it's not all lost, although for non-CK files it might be best that if they are listed in a new archive that they are linked to instead of re-uploaded.
Title: Re: Pack all Addins for fx9860 and Prizm
Post by: flyingfisch on January 02, 2012, 06:54:44 pm
I think it should be both an archive and a backup. But then again, its helder's site, not mine :P

Ah ok. Also an advice: Try avoiding making an entire new calc forum. One to discuss the move and work on the site would be fine, but there are already many existing calc forums out there. (Inlcuding here, where it's possible to get a sub-forum for major projects after they got enough progress)

@helder: You might want to make the site kind of like a wiki, where users can upload/link to files and add their own descriptions. The ability to rate/comment on programs would be nice too. ;)

Yes, i can,... If i use IPB... I have not had time to try to vbulletin

The download manager extension serves to associate a screenshot to files, organize files by category, allowing users to add new files, allow assessment, count the downloads of files ...

the site is much more organized

There's actually a dl manager for SMF. We even have one installed on Omnimaga: http://www.omnimaga.org/index.php?action=downloads

It's at http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=992

There are others here, http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?action=search;basic_search=download but I never tried them.

Also with SMF, while having a bit less options than Invisionboard and VBulletin, you won't need to pay hundreds of dollars to keep it up to date every year. Another suggestion for a download system is to build it directly into the forums, like on TI-Freakware: http://tifreakware.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=24

Omnimaga used to be like Ti-Freakware and it worked pretty well. THe only problem is we used Invisionfree so download counts could not be tracked. SMF, IPB and VBB does, I think, although PhpBB doesn't support attachments by default.

I have a developer license for ipb and vbulletion

the simple machines is a good free alternative :) ...  the free version of the downloads mod that omnimaga use is good, ... the pro version of this module is very expensive 65$ http://www.smfhacks.com/download-system-pro.php

yes. will create multiple categories for the other calculators like I did for Casio Fx9860 -> http://www.casio-scene.com/downloads.php

Graph 25 (fx-7400)
Graph 75/85/95 (fx-9860) -> Already Created
Graph 100 (AFX)
ClassPad 300/330
FX-CG10/20

I so want one of these Casio Prizm things. Color lcd and such, just amazing. These program packs look pretty awesome as well, I've been wanting to branch out and mess around with Casio and play with the HP50g I bought. It's good to see that some people are putting some real effort into the non-ti calcs, they're under appreciated I think.

It's good to see that some people are putting some real effort into the non-ti calcs, they're under appreciated I think.

Yes, especially casio. :)

Get a PRIZM if you have the dough, but I always advise getting an FX-9750GII for $40 and upgrading/hacking to FX-9860GII (essentially getting an FX-9860GII for half-price) ;)

at this time I have 2 problems:

max PHP upload limit -> only 2MB  (sollution possible -> contact the server admin and ask him to increase this limite up to 15/20Mb , but he's been very busy lately...)

and the server does not have the library installed to generate captcha images for registers,... (sollution possible -> search for another captcha extension that does not use images library, or contact the server admin and ask him to try to install it, but he's been very busy lately)

Were you able to fix this or will the opening of the site be postponed for a while?

OK. Also, will we be able to link to external downloads without having it hosted on casio-scene? I know casiocalc.org file sharing allows that. :)

For files - host files in External server like mediafire, dropbox, multiupload

For captchas -> under search...

For captcha, try reCaptcha, that looks good, and useful (that helps text reconizing programs)

You may want to make a section for calculator OS's, PC side programs, SDK's, etc. :)

And the new logo looks great!

its a good idea, ... i will make a section under calculator models for OS

I will do another section at the root for PC Tools, with the following subcategories
->SDK Tools (host here some sdk tools for fx9860, prizm, librarys, image generators, etc..)
perhaps with some sub-categories like librarys, image conversion tools, prizm sdk tools, ...

->Emulators - emulator aplications...
->Linux apps - tuxmobil, http://sourceforge.net/projects/xfer9860/ ... screenreceiver for linux, etc...
->Windows apps -> categorie with fa124 like apps
...

currently I am testing the php API of dropbox

would be nice if I could create a system for uploading files to my Dropbox account, and give the link files to users for use in the site...

Personally I would advise against hosting the files on Mediafire and such site. Sometimes, it's a major hassle to download stuff for the user there because of all ads and what if that site ever shutted down? A few years ago on a music site I used to run users uploaded about 300 MP3 of songs they created on Savefile.com, then suddenly, one day, the site vanished completely without warning. Also on certain of those sites, sometimes they modify the code to add annoying CAPTCHA's that you must fill every single time you want to download one file, require people to wait 45 seconds before they can download their file or limit the amount of file people can download per day with a free account.

What I would suggest is putting screenshots on img.removedfromgame.com and for future uploads, add a rule disallowing animated screenshots from being included inside the zip/rar files. I would have suggested asking Juju for file hosting, but his hosting is only for users who have been around and active here for a long while now I think, since everybody begged for webspace.

Doesnt he have webspace? If he doesnt, I think he can get a *.omnimaga.org hosting since his project is calc-related.

Yeah Juju has webspace, but what I meant is that now he only offers webspace for Omnimaga members who have been around for a long while and are very active. Helder7 is not even close to 500 posts and he joined less than one month ago, so we don't know him much yet. Before, Juju would give webspace to any new member, but then everybody just kept asking him non-stop so it became overwhelming. Plus he trusted some new users too much in giving them diskspace, and the result is that eventually someone used Juju's VPS to run forkbombs, causing Omni to go down completely. As a result, no more chances are taken.

Alberthro had similar problems with people constantly asking him for webspace. In fact, we had to move the topic in question to the private section because there were new members joining Omnimaga only to ask him webspace O.O

I think he could hand out an omnimaga.org sub-domain, though.

98-99% of games and applications/utilities do not have 1MB ...

the biggest addin for casio calculators is physium for prizm (+/- 1,5 MB)...

i can host these files in my server... for other files with more than 2MB, i cannot host theses in my server... (windows apps, librarys, sdk tools, OS...)

I use box.com...

i need use a service like dropbox or box.net

the dropbox have 2/3GB space, but have unlimited Bandwidth

i have a 50GB box.net account, but the guests can only make in max a 10GB/Month Bandwidth, its bad :(

the best solution is use dropbox for it, ...

I doubt Casio files really need this much space, though. If I remember, Ticalc.org archives are like 18 GB of files, and they got 40000+ files. Most calc files are around 1-20 KB, although there are of course some exceptions.

Bandwidth-wise, if it ever becomes a problem, maybe you could require registration to download files larger than 500 KB? I know ticalc.org averages at 3.43 GB of bandwidth usage per day with about 5 million hits per month, so if you have about 500000 hits per month (which is not likely to be exceeded for a new Casio-related site) then this makes approximately 100 times fewer bandwidth per day usage.

there are many more applications, games, etc. for Texas than for casio... In addition, texas calculators are the most popular...
in the future if I have Bandwidth problems, will limit the file download for registered users only.

I have other sites/forums and maybe in the future, I will change the hosting company...

currently I am using the hosting services of a small company in the UK, because of the small price, and the owner is my friend...

anyone have any feedback of hostgator? I liked the hostgator BABY plan!

Ah ok. As for Hostgator and 1and1 they're oversellers so for an high traffic site, if it's intensive on MySQL queries you could sometimes get a few errors but otherwise for a non-forum posting based site it should be fine. They're quite cheap for the amount of diskspace and bandwidth they offer. Another alternative is Surpasshosting.

Classpad lua (CPLua) is finished, there are some Lua games...I was researching and found some.

http://en.classpad.fr/cplua.html

and games here -> http://www.casiocalc.org/to/fsdisplay.php?cat2disp=FS.Classpad.Lua

the basic programs for classpad, i think it works only in classpad, their file type is .MCS and .VCP

there are also addins C++ games/Apps

This must be why Fortheswarm (Starcraft II Fan site) was down last night. O.O
This sucks, I hope they did not lost too much and that you didn't too. :/

However from experience, when an hosting provider gets hacked like this, this means they're not secure, and it will happen again and again, if not every week. So if this happens again in the future, switch hosts, and don't host personal info there.

By the way I like the site design so far, but I think the Casio logo is a bit hard to read and its color doesn't match the blue site color scheme. Maybe make it light blue or something?

Also the Prizm icon on the forums is quite stretched. It might be best to resize it proportionally.

Leads to the info page about Drug Lord, then a big 404 Not found with Hostgator. Weird, 404's shouldn't look like that, especially with a website such as casiokingdom.org.
Also something that might be a bit irrelevant, but still on Casio calculators, the website I used to go to to get most of my games for my CFX-9850GB+ in 2008/9 http://www.cabbresson.tripod.com/Casio/CasioIndex.htm was given a new site design last year. Looked really old a few years back

How weird that a change in case could result in such different pages/files showing up.
I wonder how they add their links to downloads ???

If its a *nix system, then change in case would be very important ;)

Hey, the download link work!
HERE[Url]
GO FOR THEM!
yes i know, but now I have no screenshots, description or name of the author of files

I think the administrator has not paid the bill to the server or the site was hacked and blocked by the host, because of this value -> (current value: 1)

Maybe we could register by emailing you?

Hmm I hope it isn't too late to back up the rest of the files from CK. How many were left to backup approximately? have you guys tried to contact the original admin, by the way?

Good to hear. I hope to see them available again soon. THe last time I visited Casio-Scene, there were no file in the archives. D:

As for forums I would recommend against an entire calc-related forums, though, unless it's similar to what CasioKingdom had to offer and different from others, because the Casio community is quite saturated with them already. Of course CK shutting down leaves us one less forum to discuss Casio calcs so that might not be a huge issue if a new one opens, though.

And this kinda sucks that the person to who the site was sold decided to just drop it. X.x

some offtopic: anyone who can, can check if this page ( http://www.casio-scene.com/prizm-demo/index.php ) appears without CSS alignment errors, then tell me what is your browser / resolution

I think it may have some align CSS bugs because of:
margin-right: 2px

Looks like a perfectly normal centered Prizm to me. Firefox 11, Windows XP, 1280x1024. It does start looking weird if I change the size of the text box, though.

No problems, perfectly centered even if i change the text box size.

Are you making some sort of emulator or a site designed around a Prizm, where you press keys to access downloads and stuff?

By the way for me it seems to look similar in both Firefox and Opera. I got a resolution of 1920x1080 by the way.

Looks good.  Windows 7 Ultimate, Firefox 11, 1920*1200.

Is it scaled up, btw?  The anti-aliasing along the sides sticks out a couple of pixels..

Nice, you backed up the database? I'm glad at least those posts will be useful. I did not have a very good experience at CK back when it was still active due to some (IMO) unnecessary drama starting attempts by a few members and staff, but it was fine again afterward and it had a lot of good information. Hopefully with a renewed team it could thrive again in its new (and non-PHPNuke) form. :)

Btw I'M against the start of a brand new forum like I have stated before, but I'm totally for the revival/saving of a formerly active existing one. :)

It was deleted, for copyright reasons. Now this topic is mainly about the revival of CasioKingdom website. Maybe it should be split in another topic actually?
