I know about the messed up hair, but it gives you a general idea on what the character sprites will look like for dialogues and battles.

Looking good. The way the hands are displayed is funny =) The girl with the dress looks kinda weird though ("Where are my arms?") ^^

I will see if I can get a better look at that sprite in the game tonight. I also almost have Prof Oak completed...

Nice work! Are Gary's hands normally that big or are conversions to 8pix wide getting bad?

He is a boxer! jk, it could be turned into how ash's hands are but they look ok to me!

That is how he looks in the game... I set the contrast on my gameboy to show only the black and white, and use a lamp directly over the game boy to see each pixel. It is quite a pain...

And thanks for the compliments. :)smile.gif I have Prof Oak complete, and the intro is now close to being done. I just need the mini pics of the Pokemon used in Fire Red...

Thanks. :)smile.gif

I only need to finish the in-game menu, and work on the maps, then I can release the new version. :)smile.gif It will be a definite improvement over the last version...

Cool beans! I can't wait for a new demo!

Ok, work on the signs has commenced, and I am thinking about using the same system that I am using for the maps, giving it sections, and all the sign text to be stored within one string for each section, and then I can use the sub( command with variables to determine which part of the text to pull from. :)smile.gif

More on this as it is finished...

They be the "Gym Leaders". :)smile.gif

When you beat one, the face is replaced with the pic of the badge you were awarded. I will place that in there, once I get the battle system going, and the first gym programmed in...

Well, that pic brings me one step closer to completion for the next demo...

What is left for the Menu...

Item selection (Will probably do something cool, like if the next selection is =0, skip that selection. Use < and > to move between "pages". :)smile.gif)
Save (This is sorta worked out on paper right now, though I still have a little bit left to do. Implementing this shouldn't be overly hard...)

After that, is the signs, and the inside of buildings. Not too much longer now... After I get the menu complete, I could release the next demo, to those that PM me... :evil:devil.gif You would just have to make sure you didn't try to read from the signs... ;)wink.gif

Thanks. :Dbiggrin.gif

I am really glad that I have kept going with this project, as the one in development on maxcoderz has stopped... Or so it seems anyways...

I have decided that my primary focus will be to make it save and load data, and read from signs to a point that will not cause an error. I will release the next version, hopefully by Wednesday. :)smile.gif That is, if things go well tonight...

Without save and load a pokemon game is definitely somewhat out of shape, so that sounds like an awesome plan. I'll give it a swirl once you put it up for download!

Well, this way, you don't have to keep going through the (Now) awesome intro. :Dbiggrin.gif

Still shooting for Wednesday... Working on the save/load routines now...

Post by: tifreak on March 15, 2006, 10:52:00 am
Well, I am ironing out some bugs in the save/load feature, which seems to be a problem with the integration into the rest of the program. (I make the code in a prog, like prgmA, and then copy it to the main stuff...)

I am still fairly confident about releasing this tonight...

YES! PLEASE RELEASE IT!

Just as long as it's not 34 programs big...

lol, I am sure it will be much bigger when the game is done...

there is no way to keep down programs that low in basic with huge RPGs. If you want a good RPG, or at least one with lot of features you have to understand there will be lot of stuff to install with it

I know, I just don't want to play the archive game with all those programs.
Title: pokemon screenshots
Post by: tifreak on March 15, 2006, 01:17:00 pm
Actually, they are all set up so you upload all files in the archive folder to the archive, and all files in RAM to RAM. Once this game is complete, it will be recommended that you have no other file on the calc, and a fresh set of batteries. :)smile.gif

Right now, I am ironing out bugs...
