Anime and Manga / Your Anime/Manga List
« on: February 21, 2010, 09:40:52 pm »
I figured it'd be nice to gather everyone's list of seen anime and read manga (or things you're reading/watching now or are planning to read/watch). You can post a link to your profile on a site that has the list or you can post a list here in the topic. Your choice.
I recommend Anime Planet for your list site if you don't have a list up yet.

I (or another mod) will update this post with all the links to everyone's lists. (Even if it's a link to a post made here.)

Gaming Discussion / Let's Play Torchlight!
« on: February 01, 2010, 07:40:10 pm »
(Why did I post this here? Why else? I post EVERY stupid project I start here. I love you guys. =D)

Torchlight is a dungeon-crawling RPG very much like the Diablo series. (in fact, some of Diablo's programmers worked on the game)
The game is free for 2 hours and only $20 to purchase. I've been obsessed. (only clocked about 16 hours though)

Anyway, I decided to record my first ever... Let's Play series!
If you don't know, Let's Play is a series where your host (me) plays a game, start to finish, recording and commenting the whole way through.
They usually include the feature of letting others give suggestions, ask questions and more plus whatever the host feels like doing.

Without wasting any more time... here you go!

Full Playlist

Episode 0 - Proper Intro (skippable)

Episode 2
Episode 3

Comment, rate, etc.
As it's my first LP ever... give me suggestions, mates. Please. D=

Miscellaneous / Cleverbot!

http://www.cleverbot.com/
This is quite a clever AI that you can chat with. It learns from conversations with people and is quite fun to play with. Try it!

Conversation snippet from the site.
Cleverbot: What do you define yourself as?
User: Meaningful.
Cleverbot: Not so.
User: Am I meaningless?
Cleverbot: Meaningful always, in a way, meaninglessness leads to logical paradox.
User: That was pretty much my point - well done.
Cleverbot: Thanks.
User: Even the oddest of replies can carry meaning.
Cleverbot: You are clever.
User: Do you remember what we said about repetition?
Cleverbot: Yes...
User: And...?
Cleverbot: What is your favourite Radiohead song?
User: You certainly avoided repetition there. It would have to be Paranoid Android, I suppose, in the current circumstances.

Miscellaneous / I have become... man.
« on: January 20, 2010, 05:19:15 pm »
As you may have guessed from this vague title... I just graduated High School.
Graduated one semester early. Because I'm amazing.

That is all. =)

(Oh, and I finally get to see just how mentally screwed up I am written down on paper. In other words, I have to go to a psychiatrist tomorrow.)

Other Calculators / Nyaar 2010
« on: January 10, 2010, 01:25:09 pm »
Alrighty, time to let everyone know. (Forgot that I only told DJ.)

As much as I hate to admit it... I can't program an RPG alone.
I have the coding ability... but a good RPG requires so much more than that.
I need a story, graphics, ideas for features, theorycrafting, extensive testing for balancing issues, and so on.
It's just more than I'm capable of. I've tried and tried... but in the end, I just can't manage.

If I had lower expectations for Nyaar, than maybe I'd be done already... but I can't bring myself to do less than the absolute best possible.

So, Nyaar's pretty much dead, sadly. If I ever pick the project back up again, I'll more than likely have to restart from scratch and I'll definitely have to have a predetermined, reliable team to work with.

I apologize to everyone who was looking forward to this project.
Had I known this would happen earlier, I would never have announced it.

This, however, doesn't mean I won't still code on the calculator. It just means, I won't tackle another RPG alone.

Sincerely,
{AP}

Web Programming and Design / [Web] Removed From Game
« on: January 10, 2010, 12:09:59 pm »
Alrighty, I'm working on a new web project.
I'll be making what's known as a "Duel Academy". Basically, it's like an MMO guild/alliance but for TCGs.
We gather duelists, use the best of the best for wars with other Duel Academies, and train new members/players to become the best of the best.

Anyway, so far I'm in the planning stages while I work on getting the money ready for a host. (Most likely 1and1 since I'm familiar with it.)

What I have so far is the background/banner for the site and that's what I want your opinion on. (I'll probably be making minor edits to it anyway unless otherwise suggested.) Also, note that the big white space is just a placeholder for the actual content. Without further ado...

So... what do you think so far? Questions/ratings/comments all welcome.

TI Z80 / NES Says
« on: December 09, 2009, 06:35:24 pm »
NES Says (CIII/xLib)

NES Says is a spin-off of the popular Simon Says game. (Originally designed to be SNES Says, but there wasn't enough room in my GUI for that.) Works exactly the same way, just has prettier graphics. (Although, I was planning on using real(8)'s ability to detect diagonals but not sure of how well that'd work out. If anyone's interested I can throw that in.)
I made this in Pre-cal class while I should've been taking a test. Didn't take much time. Did about 20 more minutes of clean-up, optimizations, and such when I got home.

Anyway, here ya go. Easy, simple game to pass some time. Small, only requires a picture, a few of your variables, and L1 and L2.
Limit of 999 built-in (doubt you'll ever get there anyway) and only other limitation is whether or not your calc can handle a list with up to 999 elements.

Anyway, only 678 RAM used on the program and the list grows as you use it. (L2 stays as a 2 elements list though)
Pic2 can be archived. Also, H is the highscore variable. Don't mess with it if you care about the score.
Or play with it to your heart's content. Just letting you know. (for this, you may have to record you playing for anyone to believe your score)

Also, the speed is only tested on TI-84+SE so I'm not sure how slow it is on earlier versions, although I'm almost positive it'll work fine.

TI Z80 / Omnimaga Map Maker (xLib-CIII)
« on: November 20, 2009, 11:47:41 pm »
Requires Celtic III/xLIB...
Well, I started working on this months ago and only just now decided to get it running and pretty.

The program is simple, good looking, small, and fairly user-friendly.
All you need to have is a picture containing your sprites and nothing important on matrix A.
From there, pick the picture number, the sprite you want to start with being tiled (or the background sprite), and the width/height.
All sizes supported but only 8x8 sprites can be used.

Also, what I love about this program, is the Quick-Sprite Slots feature. F1-F5 will call stored sprites that you store using 1-5.
So you can easily switch to often used sprites quickly.

Added: Preview map mode, rectangle area filling, and replacing tiles with the background sprite effectively 'deleting' them.

Newly Added: Pen tool. Ability to edit maps.

Controls:
Arrows - Movement
2nd - Place current sprite
Alpha - Next sprite
Math - Previous sprite
1-5 - Store the current sprite to a Quick Sprite Slot
F1-F5 - Recall stored sprites
Del - Replaces current tile with the background one.
Mode - Preview map. Arrows scroll the map. Press Mode again to go back to edit.
X,T,(Theta),n - Rectangle tile filling. Arrows to select the area you fill. 2nd to place the tiles in that area.
Stat - Pen tool. Adds the current sprite to the map as you move. Press Stat again to exit Pen tool.
Clear - Exit program, saving the map to matrix A.

Planned features:
  • Way to easily display which sprites are stored to which slot without hitting the button.
  • A real menu. (or at least a real start-up screen)
  • May Happen: Conversion of map/sprites to hex.

Screenie:
Newest one attached below.
This will show these features in order: New pic selection, Rectangle Filling, Pen Tool, Preview Mode, Saving, Editing a map, small map support, delete key.

OLD:

A lot slower than it was on-calc. Might be the 40 programs I have running.

Download:
IMPORTANT: Read the readme.txt, okay? It will save you a bit of grief.

Miscellaneous / It's Getting Colder...
« on: November 05, 2009, 07:11:14 pm »
As you all know... the magical time of winter is approaching.

I looked at my wardrobe and noticed that I lacked something important.
I have nothing long sleeved. No jackets. No long sleeved shirts. No hoodie.

I had to remedy this!
Thus, this came into existence:
My Music My Life

Thought I'd share it with you all.
The 'your name' is easily editable and you can customize the list of genres if you want. (a little harder)
Just a list of things I like that came to my head.

Anyway, I'm off to order this bad boy~

Miscellaneous / Guess who's back.
« on: November 03, 2009, 08:30:27 pm »
As you may have not noticed at all... I've been gone for quite some time.
Well... I'm TRYING to change that. Life has been hectic. My mind is screwed up.
Things in general have been going against me.

Regardless, I'll see about posting a bit more. I have been working with calc stuff again.
Also doing more with music too... although I doubt I'll share any soon.

As for Photoshop... I've done a bit and I just may have a job in graphic design soon.
I go in on Friday and if things go as well as I think then I'll have a pretty sweet job finally.
Of course, this may screw up my 'posting more' thing... but life comes first. I'm sorry.

Anyway... that's about it. So... see you guys around?

ROM Hacking and Console Homebrew / [ROMHACK] Pokemon: DirtBrown
« on: October 09, 2009, 08:01:13 pm »
Well, I got bored and figured I'd have a go at ROM hacking.
So... I picked some stuff up, got some ideas rolling, and the project is in the works.

It'll be a hacked version of Pokemon: LeafGreen for the GBA.

I've changed the starting Pokemon and all the text from start to Viridian City.
It's kinda just a more R-rated version than anything else at the moment, but that's mostly while testing.
(This is probably just another way for me to vent. Whatever, I like my world.)
Maybe I'll clean up a bit, but for now... expect a lot of cussing, sexual innuendos, and even drug related stuff.
AKA, it's like I made the world a prettier, but still horrible version of places in real life.

Main thing I wanted to do is include some humor and internet memes along the way as well as a slightly different experience.
Expect new maps, NPCs, and more content changes than you can shake a stick at!

No idea how long this project will be worked on... might just be a phase I'm going through since I've been sick and stuck at home.

Have another screenshot or two:

News / {AP} Retires From Calc-Programming
« on: September 15, 2009, 07:26:40 pm »
Unfortunately, I recently lost my calculator.
No idea what happened to it. Most likely stolen.

In any case, I don't have the money to get it back and I don't plan on calculator coding on my PC.
So, regretfully, I must retire from calc-programming. I'll stick around the community, but you won't see anything new from me.

So, without a single respectable project released, thus ends my calculator programming career.
Unfortunately, this does mean Nyaar and Blockage are never to be officially finished.

Whether or not I stay admin is up to Omni.

P.S. I am kinda half working on computer programming and I'll make sure to release anything that I'm working on here first.

Other Calculators / Miscellaneous Programs
« on: September 04, 2009, 04:37:59 pm »
I'll store random other programs I've made here. Some useful... some not so much.
Most require Celtic III/xLib and will be labeled as such.
I'll try and include a typed out form and download as well.
(EDIT: Attachment included at bottom.)

Um... yeah... here we go.

[Celtic III/xLIB]PICVIEW

View pictures stored on calc. Does 1-255.

Controls
Left/Right: Navigate
Clear: Exits and keeps the current picture on the screen. (sans the number in the corner)
Code: [Select]
1→X
Repeat K=15
real(0,0
real(3,X,0,0
real(6
Text(57,83,X
real(8→K
min(255,max(1,X+sum(ΔList(Ans={2,3→X
End
real(3,X,0,1

[Celtic III/xLib and Basic]INVERT

Inverts the screen. Used it on several occasions while making titles.
Just run it.

Basic:
Code: [Select]
For(X,0,94
For(Y,0,62
Pxl-Change(Y,X
End
End

Celtic III/xLib
Code: [Select]
real(12,8,0,0,04,62
DispGraph
(DispGraph gets rid of the 'Done' that normally pops up. Your call.)

[Celitic III]Sprite-to-Hex

Made awhile ago. I haven't looked at the code in ages so it may not be optimized very well at all.
All I know is that it works. Pick the size and picture, move the inverted box over what you want converted, then hit [2ND].
It'll convert the sprite to hexadecimal code for whatever you may need it for.
(Noahbaby, IIRC, made a better one at the same time I did.)
