News / Re: Android reaches the Nspire!

That's pretty awesome! Android 1.6 is useful for basically nothing (compared to say... 2.3 - :3), but it's awesome anyway!

Update:
#1:
There's a picture of the DInc. I'm trying to reflash the OS, but ADB says "List of devices attached" and doesn't show it. Trying to reflash it with an SD card I get the following messages:
Loading... [PB31IMG.zip]
<screen clears>
Checking... [PB31IMG.zip]
<screen clears>
Main Version is older!
Update FAIL!
Do you want to reboot your device...?
<VOL UP> Yes
<VOL DOWN> No

Anyone have any help or know what this even means?

#2: I succeeded beautifully in replacing the USB port with a hot air gun, so it's good to go now.

#3: I blew all the components off the board with the hot air gun cause it was fun, so I'll need a new motherboard now. >:D

#4: Here's a picture of me testing the digitizer with a paint program:

It means the back and search buttons don't work which is very debilitating - could it be software, the digitizer, or maybe a loose wire... I'm assuming it's a bad digitizer, which is unfortunate considering the digitizer is SUPER hard to replace in this phone.

Update on the Droid Incredible: It's not booting anymore. I accidentally deleted the launcher, though I don't know if that'd cause it to stay at the Droid splash screen forever, I think it should cause it to show a black screen with the notification bar with android actually running. I'm assuming the OS is corrupt somehow, so my only hope is to reflash the OS while it cannot boot. Noone can tell me how to do this - I've already looked on Google - but anyone is welcome to post if they want.

#1: Do you think it's probably a faulty GPU, or LCD?

#3: Eh... neither the computer nor the phone react to plugging into the computer. Is there anything I can do now, and is it another faulty microUSB port?

#1: Well, no, shaking doesn't seem to affect it. Maybe I should take it apart and look at the connector? :P Any other possibilities?

#2: Walp, that's about all there is to it, I'll look into replacing it. It's a shame it doesn't happen to have a seperate charging board like say the HTC 8X!

#3: Yup, Developer Mode now enabled. What next?

apologies if this is the wrong forum section
So, I bought 5 phones on eBay. One is a Windows Phone and is beyond hope, but the others are Android.

#1: HTC Droid Incredible
Error: it's screen has a blue hue to it, and sometimes what looks like general color distortion - installing Screen Adjuster only helped a tiny bit. Anyone know how I can determine if this is a software problem or a damaged GPU?

#2: HTC EVO 4G
Error: It cannot charge it's battery, I assume the MicroUSB port is damaged. Is it possible to replace it's port?

#3: HTC Thunderbolt
Error: It randomly reboots. How can I tell if this is damaged hardware or a software issue? Also, it has a smaller HTC HD7 battery taped into it, if that could be an issue.

#4: Motorola Droid
Error: The sides of the digitizer don't respond to touch.

All have been reset.

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Re: Help Testing a Laptop PSU IC

If the laptop tries to charge? That'd be the 9v, right?

EDIT: Project abandoned due to my realization that I'm in far over my head with something like this. It'd be better for an EE, not a basic computer repair guy. As I'm trying to make money refurbishing, I'll simply need to sell it as-is: it's not worth the risk of buying a new battery, in case the issue is the motherboard.

Could you rephrase what you mean? I did measure the pins on the laptop heading to the battery while the battery wasn't plugged in, which yielded 0V generally

Hi, sorry I'm posting so late.

I measured + and -, and here's what I got: 9v sometimes when it's plugged in, but often 0v. Unplugged there was a chance it'd read 0.01V but prolly nothing. So, does this information help in determining whether the laptop or the battery is at fault?

I love synthpop :P here, I couldn't resist posting this song too; the whole album is good, and their album Incandescent is good too!

Also, loved Mastedon's 1990 album Lofcaudio - here's a couple of my favorite songs from it:

Here's the opening song from Sukitte Ii Na Yo, which I liked listening to :)

I've been enjoying a lot of new music lately! The most recent is this obscure and extremely '80s song - I crack up every time I hear it, it's so 80s.

News / Re: More information on the TI-84 Plus CE
« on: January 15, 2015, 02:59:39 pm »
Hmmm seems okay, but an admittion that the CSE was a flop or at least a bad idea? Maybe the CSE will have been like Windows Vista.

Ditching the aging, bulky case is good, as is ditching the ancient Z80, but the RAM/ROM amounts are pretty sad - thankfully the CPU /was/ more important, but still. I'm glad it's better than the CSE, but they should never have made the CSE and should have made this calc and called it the "CSE".

I like the look. Hope it's got enough muscle for a little more color depth or 3D sometimes. The "CE" name is silly and confusing. And, I'll miss sound ability!

Hmm, I'll try. If you have any suggestions as to how to try to measure the battery voltage that'd be fine, though I'll certainly try to do my own research. Will I accidentally blow up the battery if I somehow short it? (well prolly not since it prolly has no power) And if I succeeded in doing this - would that test the motherboard's ability to send power, or the battery?

Haha, thanks for that much info at least, I wouldn't tell them apart. And very few people I know could either...
I don't think the battery is harmed, as I bought it on eBay working from a good seller... but I can't be 100% certain. Perhaps 80%.
Do you know of a way I can test to see if anything is wrong with the battery? I really gotta test either the motherboard or the battery *somehow*, or else I'd buy a new battery to see, and it'd not work, then I'd buy a new motherboard, and I don't have that much money for that. Surely there's a way to know which is at fault?
