DISCLAIMER:  I do not own an Nspire so I have no idea if this will brick your calc.  That being said, it works decently in Goplat's emu.

Spoiler For "Excerpt from readme":
Introduction
------------------
Colloidal is a simple game where you dodge flying blocks.  There
are four colors of blocks: black, dark gray, medium, and light gray.
You control a box.  You can change the color of the box.  If you
hit a block with a different color from you, the game is over.

However, if you hit a block with the same color as you, the game
continues, although your score will be penalized.  Think of the
color changing scheme as a lifeline.

You will notice that the blocks do not always bounce around
predictably.  That is intended.  Blocks of the same color pass
through each other, much like how they can pass through your
box.  Blocks with different colors tend to bounce around,
although sometimes they will aggregate.  This can be good and bad
for you.  On one hand, the aggregates lock up blocks so you have
fewer to worry about.  On the other hand, the aggregates create
"danger zones" where no amount of color changing will save you.

Blocks will be added randomly to the screen, so be on the look
out for sudden appearances!  Good reflexes help!

Regardless, this is just a simple game for Lulz.

Controls
------------
Arrow Keys - Move (Your character is a box with a white center)
Tab and Ctrl - Cycle through the 4 different colors
0 - Change color to light gray
1 - Change color to medium gray
4 - Change color to dark gray
7 - Change color to black
Esc - Exit at any time

FAQ
---
Q:  Why do blocks sometimes pass through each other?
A:  It's supposed to do that.  Originally, I wanted to iron that out
but then I decided after playing a bit that it actually makes the game
harder by adding some unpredictability.  If you don't like hard games,
then I suggest you stay away from Ninja Gaiden games and the hardest
difficulty on The Witcher 2.

Q:  Why is there no fancy title screen?  Why is there just one high score?
A:  Give me a break.  A week before the contest deadline I decided I'd give C
another shot and a day or two before the deadline I decided to actually
commit myself to writing this.  Suddenly deciding to pick up C again after
not doing much low-level (Assembly) programming for years is like suddenly
waking up one morning and running a marathon without any training.  You can
run, but it sure hurts, and you might not even make it.  But likewise, you
never forget how to run or ride a bike once you know how.  You never really
forget your first programming language (not C in my case).  You might forget
the ones after.

That's too bad.  I thought Spencer or Madskillz mentioned it'd last until 2012.  Without the site, Zelda is...

Did you use a different BNet account for the starter edition?  It kind of sucks how Blizzard game keys get linked to your account.  My guess is that this prevents an account that doesn't own the full game from playing on a full install.

I do miss LAN.  Stable internet isn't available in every corner of the Earth... yet.

It's just a a simple mini game (with buggy physics) that was inspired by Dimension Shift and Darl's other minigames.

I haven't sat down and actually used C for years so it's pretty poorly written and unoptimized.  I ended up brute-forcing a lot of things just to make it work.  Just put in a couple hours of relearning C and figuring out the Ndless SDK to write a first (and probably last) contribution to the community.  It would have been  faster if I knew Lua and just used Lua, but I've never used a scripting language before.

So no, it is not an uber awesome grayscale raycaster with variable height walls and the ability to look up and down.  And it's not SirCmpwn's "Easy Game."  It's closer to Levak's and ephan's entry, but no sound.

Lol, I actualy don't even own a calculator so I don't know if it actually works outside of emulating it on a nspire_emu with OS 2.01 and clickpad.

No need for a CX; any Nspire with an OS greater than 3.0 will do. Or you could even try them online on TI's Document Player.

Does it emulate the sound?  That's what will really sway my vote.

This won my vote

Now if only I had a CX to try this.

Just sent mine in.  Not that great, and not "Easy Game," but at least there'll be one more (Ndless) entry (so Ndless won't feel so underutilized).  At this rate, we might have as many, if not more entries than the Axe contest!

All of these Lua entries are pretty amazing.  Kind of makes me with I had a CX to try these out.

@DJ_O:  What's your BNet name so we can find you and play?  Or is that not even allowed in the Starter Edition?

Newegg gift card looks very tempting.  It would mean I can finally upgrade to a graphics card that can actually play StarCraft II at at least the lowest settings.  Then I can finally learn how to play (even if it means I have to use the Starter Edition).

If I have time and the deadline is still ~37 hours from now, I might whip up something real quick.

Quote from: hackspire
since v3.0. speed is one of CPU_SPEED_150MHZ, CPU_SPEED_120MHZ, CPU_SPEED_90MHZ. Returns the previous speed. You must restore the original speed before the program exits.

I wonder if this means Ndless 3.0 is almost ready?

There should have been an option for "Not owning a smartphone."

Also, this is important to me so please no bogus suggestions like "go outside" and the like. Thank you.

If you've ever wanted to take a long trip somewhere (road trip to Canada?), the summer before college is usually the best time.  College can be very busy and you're probably going to want to get an internship or relevant job experience between academic years.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_operating_systems#Mobile_devices

This will probably change as more phones with WP7 are released.  Nokia is dropping SymbianOS for WP7.  The problem for Android now will probably come from the patent lawsuits that MS and Apple will try to use to shut down or cripple the  operation.

Java and C# are similar enough.  The jump would not be as apparent as say, assembly to Lua.  The annoying part would be jumping from the XNA framework to the Android API.

edit:  The chart on wikipedia is almost a year old.  Couldn't find a better source quickly.  Basically, in the past 3 quarters, Android overtook iOS and Symbian basically began to disappear.  This is part of the reason why Nokia is ditching Symbian for WP7 in their smartphones.

Ok, cool. Makes sense now. :) However I don't have a 3ds (or really any game system besides computer) so I can't test it out. :P

You should get one, cause they are pretty neat, plus about a $100 price drop in about a month.

The problem isn't with money. It's with my parents.

There's always college to look forwards to :P

haha yeah. but that's in about three years :P

Unfortunately for a lot of people in college now, money is the problem.

After reading the posts, I'm kind of interested in how much the hardware has changed (for better or worse).

Can people run this on a real calc and tell me how much it flickers?  Disclaimer: NOT MINE! don't have source so don't ask for it.

2nd - take advantage of SE speed
Mode - turn off SE speed
clear - quit
F1-5 - adjust scrolling speed (not like it should really affect flicker anyways)

edit: sorry for any thread-jacking!
