Thanks for the panel plugins!  The Firefox thing is called "FxOpera."  It's not a theme, rather an addon.

Do I win the sexiest desktop awward?!  ;D

A lot has changed since my last screenshot.  I now run Arch Linux with XFCE.

XFCE is great.  What panel-plugins are you using?  My XFCE only came with a few and I haven't been able to find any to replicate the Gnome experience...

Numix Circle is the name.  It usually is $2.99 but you can get it for free by adding their development repo ^^

The wallpaper actually updates in real time with the clock, but the application stopped responding around when I took the screenshot.  That terminal greeting is shown every time I launch it.  With exception to sandboxed games, I only have open-sourced code installed on my PC.  Also, my home folder is still clean after almost a year of use.

Yes, cloud is in alpha.  :/  The login is not functional, I removed the link from my signature.  Gravatar could be implemented.  It does use trackers to function, however, and we cannot guarantee that they do not leak information to the NSA upon request.  If it were added, it would be an optional setting to enable with a warning.  Thanks for the feedback!  :D

Art / Graphic Design Request
« on: July 08, 2014, 07:02:21 pm »
As many of you know, I have been working on development at https://moonzean.com/, an alternative social media platform.  I was wondering if one of you would be willing to help with graphic design for a total of six images.  For the home page, I have a new UI design and would love to have images representing the following ideas:
  • Freedom of Speech
  • Commitment to the Open Web
  • Real Privacy
  • No Ads Ever
  • True Innovation
  • Without the Fluff
If you would like to help, you may design whatever you think bests represents each statement.  You may also pick and choose select points from the list if you don't feel like doing them all.  ;)  An image may be in any style that you choose.  The preferred image size is 300x300 pixels, but any size will be fine.  Thank you in advance for the help!

Other / Re: Windows Vista Boot Problem
« on: July 04, 2014, 06:54:42 pm »
If BIOS and Windows recovery do not work, you might try contacting the manufacturer who made the device/hard-drive.  They might have their own recovery tool, or maybe know of a problem with the device.  If all comes to all, it sounds like reformatting the entire drive is the only option left...  D:  I think that it might have become corrupted when removing the partition.  Did the BIOS or Windows recovery tool return any errors, or did they simply fail to work?

This is an interesting problem...  Did Windows Vista ever launch properly before this problem, or did it occur directly after the installation?

EDIT: I read more carefully, it did work before removing the partition...  Have you considered whether the hardware is physically damaged, or perhaps not inserted all the way (after a drop, perhaps)?  From Microsoft support:

Quote
[Operating system not found] may occur if one or more of the following conditions are true:
  • The basic input/output system (BIOS) does not detect the hard disk.
  • The hard disk is damaged.
  • Sector 0 of the physical hard disk drive has an incorrect or malformed master boot record (MBR).

    Note Some third-party programs or disk corruption can damage an MBR.
  • An incompatible partition is marked as Active.
  • A partition that contains the MBR is no longer active.[/l][/l]
If your hard-drive is easily detachable, you might try seeing what's going on using a different computer...  It is also possible that the hard-drive was corrupted in some way or form when the partition was removed and in the process of restarting the device.  If you can identify the cause, a solution should be easier to find.

Web Programming and Design / jQuery to JS conversion
« on: May 21, 2014, 09:08:14 pm »
I hate jQuery, and I also am quite a noob at it (although I am great at normal JS).  Every now and then, I encounter a good snippet that happens to use jQuery in it...  Can someone here help me to convert it into pure JS to use?

My most recent issue:
Code: [Select]

var txt = $('#comments'),
    hiddenDiv = $(document.createElement('div')),
    content = null;

hiddenDiv.addClass('hiddendiv common');

$('body').append(hiddenDiv);

txt.on('keyup', function () {

    content = $(this).val();

    content = content.replace(/\n/g, '<br>');
    hiddenDiv.html(content + '<br class="lbr">');

    $(this).css('height', hiddenDiv.height());

});

Thanks in advance!
