File with my map in it, comments and criticism appreciated it's my first map, try it out!  ;)

...... Apparently I don't know how to save my maps correctly because that file generates a new map!  And now I have no map because of a bad precautionary practice.

ASM / Z80 ASM tutorial (can't find it)
« on: September 25, 2011, 08:26:12 pm »
Hello, I was downloading and reading HotDog's  Z80 ASM tutorial for total beginners(I think that was the name  :banghead:) earlier today.  I closed the tab thinking I could just find it later, but I can't.  If anyone can point me to where that post is I would greatly appreciate it.

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/655275-metroid-ethosadventure/#entry8571250 For anyone that's interested in my Adventurecraft Map, I will be posting any progress here.  I recently finished up a significant chunk of my  AC map, but i'm looking for a place to host the download right now.  In case anyone is wondering, I really have no time to invest in learning a coding language atleast not at the moment.  I'm a student and have many obligations, so I'll spend my little free time "productively", and make the best AC map I can.  If anyone with some experience in making AC maps wants to contribute, I do need some help with setting triggers and I also want to put in some sound/music mods along with reskinned mobs.  It's a little rough right now but I've played through it a few times to make sure everything works reasonably well.

what language do you intend to use to write this sidescroller?
I'm, still looking at what best suits my needs for this project, I have absolutely know experience with coding so I'm still deciding what's best to learn/learn first.  I really don't know where to start, I need a good tutorial.  Not to sound hopeless but I have no concept of coding, so bear with me as I try to find the right information to start with.

Looks awesome!  I'm a big fan of Minecraft adventure maps, even making some of my own, and so this looks like it would be really fun :) What kind of gameplay are you planning for it?
Pay attention to this thread I'll make this a topic on the Minecraft forum and post a link.

That's awesome! :o
I'm not sure how long they're gonna keep it this way, but you can download Adventurecraft and use it for free.  It's super easy to use, and if you take your time you can make some pretty impressive stuff.  I just didn't know if anyone plays Minecraft on here.

Thanks, that gold colored thing with the red lamps is suppose to be one of the boss statue/impasses like in Zero Mission.  I think it's atleast recognizable, lol.

I'm kinda doing this thing in order of what I feel like doing and in the order of the ideas in my head .  I actually haven't been able to find an easy one stop place to learn axe, kind of hard to learn when switching back and forth between information/guides.  I would of course want to start my project from scratch, I can only imagine it's easiest to work bugs out that way.  One feature I want to do is a three level tileset, 1st layer would be purily graphical, 2nd layer would be for movement and physics, 3rd layer a simple background/graphics layer.  Kinda like artclass in kindergarten, with construction paper.

I'll use this reply for my progress on sprite and tile development.  I would like to use a little bit of grayscale in the game.

This is my first sprite work ever, I have no idea if I made it unusable by shoving it in the corner of the PNG(does it matter right now?), I do now realize that it is quite small but I think it's got a bit of character.  Anyone play the Metroid Prime games, lol? Please tell me what you think.

What are some good games?
For the pc, Crysis and Crysis Warhead will play just like an XBOX game.  It gives you an ingame popup that shows you all the buttons when you plug it in.  Most new games that have the Windows brand on the cover have the same feature.  One downside is it will act like any other game controller with older games, but you still get a ton more precision over the generic controllers.  That is definately a plus for casual FPS's.  Oh,one more game that recognizes the 360 controller is Super Meat Boy which is significantly more enjoyable to play with.

go to Images -> Attributes, and change resolution to 96x64 px. That's the TI-84+ screensize.
Thank you

I would like to know who has a xbox controller for thier computer.

I do have a wired 360 controller for my computer, but I use it for games that already have provisions and mapping for it.  Otherwise it's the most precise and high quality controller you can buy for the pc by far.

Art / Super Meat Boy for the Calc (possible?)
« on: September 22, 2011, 02:38:51 pm »
This is more of a thought than an ambition.  Wouldn't it be possible to make a Super Meat Boy for the calc with reasonable success?  Obviously sprites and tilesets would have to be significantly less detailed for most calcs.  I just thought it sounded like a fun idea maybe someone could turn into a project. Maybe it could be done with some of the physics based coding tools I've seen on here.  Meat Boy already is a cube so it wouldn't be to hard to just make him a square, atleast I wouldn't really care how detailed he'd be.  I just got to thinking that maybe you could replicate a game where you're able to sprint, jump off walls, and control your character mid flight.  Those features are a great combo.

Wow, I didn't really know you could make tilesets in paint, these look to be a great job.  I was gonna start making this kind of stuff in autocad lol, atleast for mockups.  I'm just wondering, where would I find a screensize template to use in paint? I'm assuming these tilesets are meant for the TI-84+ resolution.
