I'm back baby!

For those of you who don't already know me, I'm Jarren (you can call me JincS or Fishy). I was one of the mods on the old Omnimaga site. After three years in exile, I'm back!

Yo!!!

Occasionally, but if you beef up the bass in the mixing board a bit, and record everything at really low volumes, it usually turns out quite nicely. Of course, you have to find the right volume level to record to cassette to and be able to hear it clearly, AND be able to amplify the volume to a comfortable level when you convert it all to CD.

Can anyone say "Take 74, from the top!?!"

The sound card I've got seems to work ok (Creative Professional E-MU DSP 0404), but not quite as good as I would want it to. Though, I'll never get the quality I want without a 100% analog equipment setup (AKA an analog mixing board w/ cassette recording + a cassette -> CD burner)

I have other software what I just haven't gotten around to learning how to use yet:

Cakewalk SONAR LE
Steinberg Cubase LE
Ableton Live Lite 4
Steinberg Wavelab Lite
IK Multimedia Amplitube LE & T-RackS EQ
SFX Machine LT
E-MU Proteus X LE

They came with my sound card, but I don't have a clue where to start with them (aside from Google, but I'm lazy). But I've heard that they're all supposed to be pretty good. Eventually I'll get around to figuring them out. But I think I should learn how to play guitar first :P

I used Audacity. And yes, you have to download the lame_enc.dll so you can export mp3's :( But I'm gonna try out that MyMp3 and see if I like it->it looks pretty... :P

New Recording for everyone who want's to hear what my crappy guitar sounds like when I'm doing a jam session. I'm thinking about turning this into a chorale for two guitars, but I'll probably play it on one and just combine the two parts (dumb down one half of it, of course). Anyways, here's my jam session from a few minutes ago:

here

**NOTE: Didn't feel like borrowing a good guitar or sounds recording setup, so it sounds pretty horrible. Just close your eyes and plug you ears when you get to the accidental feedback parts :(

**EDIT**
Apparently, I should have listened to the final mp3...it seems to be playing too fast (though I wish I could play that fast). So just picture the same song, but a lower octave and about half as fast as it really is :)

Though I believe rules are great for managing the forums, I think that just some general guidelines would be better. Like grendel said, the site is quite mature. On the same token, it would be good to have some guidelines for the newbies to the site, so that they could learn internet etiquette (if they don't already know it), and for the bad eggs, who can be pointed to the guidelines after they get taken care of.

Though I don't quite see how rules lead to more trouble. I don't believe that anyone here at Omnimaga would ever try to manipulate the rules, just so they could get another person in trouble.

**Offtopic**
BTW, calchaven.net is back online! Yay for Jc!

Sorry, nothing to give you guys yet. My drummer won't be back in town for another month, so we're gonna try to do a recording then.
