Isn't MTVMG a PS1 game ? Why can't you use it on Linux ?

They have a PC version of it too that has little more features than the PS1 version.  The issue is that trying to record sound coming from the computer into the game crashes the entire program.  Even when installing pavucontrol and messin around with that, it doesnt work

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What made you decide to get into making music?
A: I've always wanted to make my own dance/techno songs since i was a kid.  Growing up, I mostly listened to dance music on the radio (songs made by artists such as SNAP!, Culture Beat, Captain Hollywood Project, La Bouche, Livin Joy, etc...).

Q: How long have you been making music?
A: Since 2008.

Q: What program(s) do you use to make your music?
A: It's a combination of both MTV Music Generator & LMMS.

Q: Why is all of your stuff on MediaFire and not on any social media site? (YouTube, SoundCloud, etc...)
A: They used to be, but out of nowhere, "Universal Music Group" decided to file multiple copyright strikes against some of my newer remixes, so rather than deal with the headache of filing a counter claim on each one for each different site and song, I decided to just delete my profiles and keep all of my songs on MediaFire.

Q: How come you don't make any more original songs?
A: To be honest, I enjoy remixing other songs a lot more.  One day I might go back to making original stuff, but I don't know when that will happen.

Q: How come it takes you a long time to release new songs?
A: Short answer... life.  Long answer - Work, trying to have a social/dating life, being glued to a video game series (currently at the time of playing this, I'm in the middle of going through ALL of the Ace Attorney games, including the Miles Edgeworth game), and having really bad "artist's block" half the time.

Hhmm... might have to check that out

CURRENT STATUS: I fixed Windows Firewall! :D Found a link to a microsoft support forum post that basically told me that once i set all the permissions on one of the "HKEY" registries for evereyone to have full access, it would allow me to force start the base filtering engine service that was previously disabled (probably due to the fuck-up that was done to it), since whenever i tried to do that, it woulod always give me "Error 5: Access Denied".  This is the first time I've ever encountered something like this, because I doubt Windows XP has a "services" section (or maybe they do, i just never accessed it before).  And apparently I'm missing BITS too... Im guessing CCleaner got rid of that as well, but apparently i doubt that's totally to blame... they say that a malware could have fucked up a few things in my system, which after doing scans on my computer, it did encounter a few... guess Microsoft Security Essentials is not as great as i thought it was, lol.  Glad i went back to Avira, but I'm still keeping malwarebytes just as a precaution.

Now all i need to do is fix Windows Update and then I'm back in business, lol :-P The problem is installing the actual updates.  It can scan and show what needs to be updated with no problem, and thankfully, only update it shows is a security update for C++, so i"m glad I'm not missing much, lol

Gaming Discussion / Re: nes games you would you recomend?

Here's two more...

Mappy-Land:
The original game was a classic arcade style game where you're a mouse trying to collect all the items and avoid the cats chasing you.  The sequel actually has a story-line and is kinda like a platformer, although the gameplay is the same as the first game.  I'd definitely recommend it as a quick time killer

StarForce:
If you like spaceshooters, you'll love this one.  Although i suggest playing the PAL version of the game rather than the USA version, just for better music.  The PAL version was released before the USA version, and even though the instruments are more simple, it definitely sets the mood better than the USA soundtrack, which is more quiet, and not as loud. Oh, and this game is also HAAAAAAAARD.  Especially if you're playing the Arcade version from the Virtual Console section on your Wii... THAT version is jacked, lol XD

So basically while using CCleaner (like I normally do) to clean my C drive and delete old registries, then like a few minutes later, Microsoft Security Essentals tells me that a threat was detected, but no action on my part was needed.  Then MSE dies.  I try opening it up, and instead of a green logo, I get a red one, saying real time protectiojn is turned off and that it hasn't been updated at all, which is impossible considering i always update all of my programs.  So i try to hit the "start scan" button on MSE and i get a "0x80070424" error, and nothing happens.  So I looked it up online... apparently an important registry key (or few) got deleted when CCleaner was doing its thing (which is odd considering that ive used it on several occasions with my new computer, and yet this is the first time this error has popped up), because not only did it effect MSE, but it also effected Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, and even Windows Update.  Then MSE started freaking out when i tried to fix it, forcing my computer to reboot every 5 minutyes, so unfortunately I had to uninstall it.  As of right now I have Malwarebytes installed as a temporary malware/trojan protector/scanner, plus I just got Windows Defender working again (some cool dude at the microsoft forums attached a link to a defender registry that I merged with my computer, and it fixed the problem).  Now i just need to fix Windows Update and Windows Firewall, which after searching relentlessly on Google, I've come across many solutions that require you messing with your registeries even more or using cmd... which I'll admit, even though I'm computer savy, even I'm afriad to do either one, lol. XD

I'm posting here in hopes that maybe someone can help me with my dilema.  Also I'm thinking about going back to using Avira Antivirus (which is what i had on my old computer, and had no problems with it), unless anyone has any suggestions on a better antivirus (that ISN'T norton, lol), unless it's ok for me to go back to MSE once the Windows Fireall & Update issue has been fixed

Gaming Discussion / Wii U at E3
« on: June 04, 2012, 07:28:53 pm »
For those of you that have a Nintendo 3DS, they have a video all about the Wii U in the eShop.  One of the Nintendo execs is discussing how the Wii U will be more "revolutionary" and "unique" than the Wii was.  Their plan is to have the controller (or Game Pad, as they are calling it) be alot more interactive than any other controller ever made... not just for games, but for social interaction, and basically anything else you do in your daily life (like texting, or internet browsing).

Personally, i find it extremely ironic that a video game company is attempting to "fix" the problems that apparently so many families face now-a-days (and by that they mean the one problem of families glued to their other electronic devices with no interaction between them).  Seeing the Game Pad being used in action is KINDA cool, but it's really no different than if you were using your iPad to control your tv... and thats basically what is is... Nintendo's version of the iPad, only with a shitload more buttons.

Honestly, I could care less about the whole "social Interaction" part.  I'm not that bad of a gamer where i hibernate in my room all day and night away from other people, I do have a life of my own (or at least try to, lol).  I'm more focused on how the newer games are going to incorporate all of this into something playable... although I do find the whole "motion control" thing getting a bit annoying to the point where it's outstayed it's welcome for quite a while... specially once Microsoft and Sony started joining on the bandwagon (although, if we're going to get technical, didn't Sony seem to "almost get it" with the EyeToy before nintendo came out with the Wii?)

Oh yea, and theres going to be yet another nintendo network channel... which is barely explained but its supposed to be the definitive channel where the Wii U, 3DS, and other future consoles will be linked to it.

my mom had an Acer laptop until a year ago that broke after 4 years of use. Getting it repaired at the store would have costed higher than buying a new one.

ugh, i'm not too fond of Acers, on account that they are really easy to break and don't perform as great as the other leading brands

How did you get a computer from Dell for that cheap? O.O Unless the american version of Dell is different than in Canada, over here I remember their stuff was usually considerably more expensive than Staples, The Source and even Sears (back when they still sold computers). Only Tanguay was worse.

Also, back in 2003-08, it seemed like Dell laptops used to break more often than other brands. ???

Well the cheapest computer dell has on their website over here in the states is $299 (dunno what that is in canadian looneys), but the parts inside arent really too great unless you are the type of person that doesnt download alot of games/videos that need a little kick to it, then you'll be fine.  So far I've only used 80GB of hard drive space out of 1TB, but its mostly for programs and games i used on my old computer, which run more smoothly and quickly now.  Only newest majorly complex game i got for it was Sonic Generations on steam, which even though in its lowest resolution settings still lags a little, gets the job done. Plus, if i ever wanted to mod my computer to add newer better parts (I.E. more advance video card), then theres like 4 empty extra slots in the back of the computer for me to do that.

Also I usually stick with desktops cause they are easier to fix... more room to take apart/put together stuff.  With laptops I'm always paranoid when ficing them since everything is literally jammed inside one square box and god forbid i loose a screw or forget to put a piece back in... game over, lol.

I might be able to talk my parents into letting me get it.

lemme get back to ya on that... I need to see if MY parents would even let me ship this thing all the way out there in the first place, lol XD

it also came with a keyboard and a mouse, all for $370, free shipping.

Holy crap, that is a steal. Where did you buy it?

http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=dddwjq1&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&model_id=inspiron-620

Although looking at it now, I'm glad i got it when i did.. it seems they jacked up the price to $429 =/

Ouch, that sucks. You didnt have a backup for the smfiles?

i actually have a 256GB external harddrive that i use as a backup for anything I want to backup, but at the time i was in the middle of reformatting THAT too considering that it had some sort of I/O error and couldnt read files correctly after i downloaded a torrent conatining a shitload of GBA roms plus the emulator.

that must have been a SUPER bad thunderstorm O.O also did you lose a lot of data?

Yes to both, but the only MAJOR data that i lost was all of my SmFiles i created over the years when i used to be a SMFile artist for Stepmania.  Otherwise everything else was just games and programs i got back quickly after I got the new harddrive, lol
