Music Showcase / Re: Jonius7's Finale Music

New, updated 2016 version of Jason's Melody No.5 - Debontu.
I had disliked how this piece had nothing but repeating the same Eb note for over a minute, so I changed that. Also made part of the left hand an octave lower for more variation.

Recently completed Jason's Melody No.4 - Reverie

Well, this one was a long time coming. I even hesitated uploading the rest of my melodies to YouTube because I had a gap at No. 4 for so long (I don't like having gaps in collections :P).

As early as 2004 (when I was 9), when I got bored with practicing piano I would sometimes start playing left hand broken chord arpeggios in this fashion: Eb, Db, B, Db. My right hand would keep coming up with this particular melody and I would improvise on it and change it, starting quietly and building up more dramatically. These improvisation sessions could take up to half an hour as I kept experimenting.

Time passed, and when I started creating melodies in Finale, I saved Melody No. 4 for this particular improvisation. The problem was I would vary it every time I played it, and putting it on a score meant I had to decide on a set melody, and so I sat on it for years, never completing it.

Finally, in 2016, I am reviewing all my old melodies, and I just spent a few days completing this. It's not very complicated, as the left hand repeats every 4 bars throughout the piece, but if I were to play this on piano, this is close to what melody I would play, with all the variations included, without dragging the piece on too long. At the very end I added a reference to Melody No.5 - Debontu.

I called it Reverie, because it is like a daydream, the constant of the left hand ever driving the melody of the right, but I'm horrible with coming up with names, so whatever, it sounded suitable.

Also recently completed Melody No.10 - Leiery which was already 95% note complete in 2014, so I just put on the finishing touches.

bump.
I am terrible at finishing things. Only the other day I checked my folder full of half finished compositions, I pretty much stopped composing after 2012, though somehow I already had a 95% completed melody that I last edited in 2014.

Melodies 4 and 10 are close to completion, I want to make some final fixes.

That looks really interesting, Eiyeron. I can see the terrain generator map being used for an overview/zoomed out map, and the tileset, or similar for the game environment itself.

Wow, that'd be kinda ridiculous if they knew about the downgrade tool AND had a fix for it, but they may have been working on OS security all along and just fixed some 'bugs'

Probably for me atm is that I only really post in the TInspire and Music forum sections mostly, and when I look at most other boards all I have to say is good job and not much more. Probably because I want to make my post seem like a contribution, rather than a one sentence post.

Lua / Re: Reducing the number of If statements

I think using a table would be quite efficient, it just depends on what variables/attributes you want to use for each case (if statement).
You can also name attributes of a table as well.
Here is some random example, you can possibly use a for loop, depending on the situation.

Code: [Select]

mtable = { {id = 1, message = "This is the first one", gamestate = "Mode1"},
{id = 2, message = "This is the second one", gamestate = "Mode2"},
{id = 3, message = "This is the third one", gamestate = "Mode3"}
}

function on.paint(gc)
  for g=1, #mtable do     --up to mtable length
    gc:drawString(mtable[g].message, 10, g*20, "top")
  end
end

EDIT: Crap, over 3 month necropost!!! Just noticed.

HP Calculators / Re: Annoying feature-Boot time/Splash screen for hp prime

I would dream of having a 1.5 second start-up time. As mentioned previously, the TI-nspire can take 30 seconds to start up, but usually if it's waking up from hibernation or inactivity. Otherwise it turns on immediately.
For the HP Prime loading screen we need some people who know how to hack in and modify the OS...

Glad to hear you liked those too. And yeah for the 2007 hardcore remix I wanted to stick to the style of UK hardcore that prevailed around 2004-06 with the piano. The issue though is that the song is too long, which is why the Hardcore Armageddon DJ mix only used the last segment.
Personally I found it a bit repetitive for its length. So either another theme to round out the 8 min or to make it shorter would have been perfect.
But, anyways, Land of Hopelessness is an example of where I was captivated for the almost 10 min length because of the variety in the melodies and themes.

I think I liked the original the most. Though I like the extra melody in the Eurodance version, and the UK 2007 version was pretty epic (I especially liked the beginning of that one)

Every other track in DK is listed as being released in 2008, so could be 2008 or 2009.

Also dj.omnimaga.org just stopped existing :P Is it because of some HQ newer songs from ToKotM onwards were included?
