Casio Calculators / Re: Prizm fx-CG50 announced for spring 2017

Python support is built in? That's pretty cool. I was looking around to see what could be done, I saw C/C++, CASIO BASIC, and python listed. Didn't realize python was an official thing. There doesn't seem to be a ton of information about it around. Programming calculators isn't nearly as cool these days as it used to be apparently. :( Since you say it works with older Prizm add-ins, maybe the old Prizm sdks work for it? Still looking around, I'll probably have to try to look for older info since it was released over a year ago. Also, in some ways, I'm glad it's cheap. In other ways I'm not, because that means it probably wasn't super popular.

*BUMP*
So apparently this thing came out a while ago and I completely forgot about it. @Deep Toaster and @flyingfisch mentioned that they both purchased one, so I was a bit curious about it. Have either of you (or anyone else) had much hands on time with this thing? What kind of programming capabilities does it have? Looking briefly online it seems to run ~$60, so I was kind of interested in what it was like and what it offered.

Nice! I wonder why scrolling up is slower though...

TI-BASIC / Re: Basic Sprites
« on: November 07, 2018, 07:55:49 pm »
I'm not as familiar with the CE, but you should still be able to make sprites with individual pixels or lines and for commands. If the speed is comparable to the TI-84+, this will be (relativley)slow. You can use asm libs, but that wouldn't be pure BASIC. If I remember right, there's a version of Xlib out there for the CE, and maybe something else. The 84+ also had Dual layer Ascill that could be done, but I think saving and storing pictures is a bit different on the CE and that causes this not to work (someone more knowledgeable would have to verify). There are other techniques that were used on the 84+ using text to make sprites, but they are limited on what they can produce, and again I'm not sure if or how well they work on the CE. Here's a link describing some of these from TIBD. http://tibasicdev.wikidot.com/graphics As I said this applies to the 84+/83+ line, and I'm not sure how relevant it is to the CE.

There are a number of ways to do this, and it also depends on which platform you are programming for. Keep in mind Sprites in pure BASIC are generally going to be slow. Again this depends on the method and platform.

That's actually what it made me think of when I was watching it. :D

TI-BASIC / Simple little character generation program.
« on: November 04, 2018, 01:03:22 pm »
I was watching youtube and there was a guy drawing a character based on numbers generated randomly from a 20 sided dice. Each roll represented a certain attribute, and the higher the number the more it leaned towards one attribute or another. For example, there was a size attribute which could either be small or huge. A roll of 1 would represent a tiny character while a 20 would be a giant character. He had each attribute written down, and he'd draw a line under each attribute show how far it leaned one way or the other.Offhandedly, the guy mentioned that "you could probably write a program to do this, but what fun would that be?" I thought it might be fun, so here are the results. :D Just felt like sharing because it's the first real thing I've written in a long time, and it came out pretty much just like I wanted.

Hey Sorunome, congrats on the release. It looks really nice! Has DJ_O seen it yet? I'm sure he'll be thrilled! Also, remind me again, what are the specs on the Gamebuino Meta? I'm also curious about the size, how big is that thing? It looks pretty tiny.

Congrats on the release!

besides, the nspire screen is smaller than the v200/92(p). I imagine it could be quite hard to see your code on your nspire. (Unless sombody manages to use a usb graphics card with it.  :P)
The V200/92+ does have a bigger screen, but not by that much. On the flip side, the nsipre has color as opposed to black and white on the 92+ series, and the nspire has a higher resolution.

It's always good to see progress. I like the character animations as he's walking around the map. It's simplistic, but it works. :)

@Streetwalrus : I've noticed you've been around a bit and posting. Nice to see you here again. I usually seem to miss you in IRC, though I don't spend an awful lot of time there these days.

I whipped up a quick website for TI-Boy CE, nothing too special yet but it'll be nice to have when I release the emulator. I may eventually (after release) write a series of blog posts about TI-Boy's design, if anyone's interested.

I think you should. I'm sure many (myself included) would find it an interesting read.

Very nice!

That's great news! It is currently Spring of 2018  :3. I can't wait until it comes out! Keep up the good work! ;D

It's not quite Spring yet, but soon... ;)

Pretty cool that you were able to get yours fixed. Thanks for sharing. :)
