Gaming Discussion / Re: Juju's Gaming Server
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:19:51 pm »
I think a voip server would be fun. I personally prefer Teamspeak, but I guess any service would be fine. If JuJu decides to go through with this, I reccommend that the service be called and referred to as JuJuSpeak.

Me and pimathbrainiac could get on there for our DotA 2 games. Oh, and what about Trackmania? Are there TM Nations players on here except me and JuJu?

Official.Xian, welcome to the community!

And please, put this QR code anywhere possible.

That itty-bitty QR code. Do you have a better resolution? Because pretty much anything that upscales an image applies some type of blur to it, and this makes the code unreadable.

i actually like that one being >:D because > : D is supposed to be devil.
That, and a lot of people are used to using the current one.

Also, I find it funny that a lot of you don't like or are creeped out by  ._.. Yet it's posted everywhere on this thread. It's spreading like the plague. It's over usage here actually suggests that you all like it instead of your intended message. :P Personally, I always thought ._.  was like equivalent to the sweat drop in animes. Basically a face for when you feel awkward/embarrassed. I agree that ._. doesn't really fit with ._.. Though I do not have issue with ._. and actually find it quite funny. The :3 emoticon has been requested for quite some time, and I'd like to see it added as well.

Maybe it will become a meme? O.O

Too late, it has already become an Omnimeme ._.
We should make this one  :hyper: popular as well, just to mess with epileptic people.

RIP arcade.

My only regret is that I never had any highscore.

My only regret is that I never had any score.

Gaming Discussion / Re: Calculator Dota Alliance - Interest Thread

I play league of legends a lot, but never really got into Dota :/

Still, join the DotA group on Steam. If enough people play DotA and LoL we can do both.

I like playing some DotA and League of Legends, even thought I am not an expert at any of these games. My name on LoL is PegasusHooves, and my ID on steam is firestom.

If I can make a suggestion: Create a Steam group and put the link in the top post. It will be easier for everybody to just join the group and add any member from Omnimaga / Cemetech as their buddy.

Bring it on!

EDIT: I joined!

I think we all passed our exams thanks to our programmable calculators, although I had not heard of a complex equation solver before. Congratulations, that is true dedication to your programming platform.

It would be possible to specify a compatibility mode with a command-line switch (like -mode=ti83) to force the use of a 96x64 screen like the calculators had.

Without supporting graph functions for now, it could be cool to emulate a text-only TI-83 screen with ncurses. Would be as simple as setting a 12x8 characters screen with a monospace font (maybe even the TI-83 font).

That project is very interesting and I would like to contribute to it, but for now I don't understand a thing about flex and bison. I'm reading tutorials to learn about the mechanics of those tools but for now I don't get anything. I'll tell you if I ever manage to do something with this.

TI Calculators / Re: Is it possible to run a TI-84+ OS on a TI-84+CSE?
« on: January 17, 2014, 12:01:38 pm »
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems that the bottleneck here is the serial communication interface with the LCD display, over which we have no control. If we want the CSE to run an OS that would be fully compatible with games from the TI-84+, we would need to replace the screen with another one.

In this regard, it would be impossible to install an OS on the CSE that would fully support the TI-84+ and all of its programs.

I got around to testing the emulator (TI-84+SE) and it works pretty great. I have been able to install DoorsCS and MirageOS, Axe Parser (and compile some programs with it).

So far I have found no major bugs in the emulator. The only thing I noticed was that the emulator expects your files to be on the internal storage, and could not be found on my external SD card.

I also managed to crash the virtual calculator (but not the app) a couple times, and I don't know why. I was transferring some programs and got a couple of RAM clears before everything came back in order. I have been able to transfer files after that.

I'll keep using the app and tell you if I find anything else.

WabbitStudio Software Suite / Re: CSE support for Wabbitemu ?
« on: January 16, 2014, 08:58:14 pm »
This is not comparable with the CSE case. Grayscale was not a feature of the TI-83+, but rather a software hack that was possible because of the way the LCD display works.

The color display is the central point of the CSE. They even named the calculator after this. Without color support it is yet another TI-84. Without grayscale 99% of the programs for the TI-83 can be properly emulated. So maybe it took some time for grayscale support to finally be implemented in an emulator, but that's because it was not a key feature.

General Calculator Help / Re: ti 84 +c se how-tos,q & a,ect...
« on: January 16, 2014, 06:28:36 pm »
Animated GIFs could be possible, but I don't think they are natively supported. There are a number of limitations to take account of like screen size (width and height) color depth (I think the CSE is 16 bits) and file size.

Technically, if you limited the image to black-and-white 96 x 64, the TI-83 could play animated gifs. It is just a matter of taking the hardware limitations into account and having a viewer program for your gifs.

General Calculator Help / Re: Please Help!

This thing is commonly called a USB-to-RS232 TTL converter. It is used to directly interface a USB port on a computer to a port using a RS232 (Serial) communication protocol with a TTL (0-5V) signal.

RS-232 TTL is what the dock connector on a TI-NSpire uses. This connector can be used to bypass USB communication and interface directly with the calculator to do things that are impossible with a USB link like in this case downgrading the calculator bootcode.

Fully understanding this requires some basic knowledge in electronics, and even then trying to explain it to someone can be kinda hard. I suggest you check the Wikipedia pages on TTL and RS-232 to have a more in-depth understanding of it works. You could also look for documentation on the USB protocol, but this is way more complex, probably too much for someone with no prior knowledge of electronic communication protocols.

I think at some point it will be inevitable to have CSE support for the emulator to keep living, as more and more people will (or will have to) buy the CSE. We already have dreamdragon who is one of the early users interested in development for the CSE, and we have to expect more young people to come here expecting to find programs and development tools for the CSE. If Wabbitemu does not add support for the CSE, some people will prefer others that do like TilEm2 and jsTIfied.

So should WabbitEmu support CSE? Definitively.
