General Calculator Help / My nspire cx touchpad won't respond
« on: March 03, 2013, 05:44:20 pm »
I was messing around with the audio player, and I guess I touched two ports that shouldn’t be connected, and it reset and now the touchpad won’t respond.
I deleted the documents and os, and sent the os again, it still wouldn’t work, so I doid the diags menu test, which failed
I don’t know what to do.

TI-BASIC / pretty up disp output
« on: January 17, 2013, 10:55:21 pm »
I’m sure I know of everything on the nspire and programming it, but is there a way to display a function and variable in a pretty manner?
I’m revisiting a program I made and it displays “1/6*pi^2”
Is there a way to display the symbol pi to an exponent and multiplied by a fraction without it being ugly or calculating a numeric value?

Miscellaneous / Coolest app ever
« on: January 03, 2013, 02:16:29 pm »
So I was searching for some blender apps and found augmentedev for free.
Then I searched for calculator files, found two simple textured rectangles (I should have asked Levak for his nspire file) and made a simple omni logo
Anyway, its a pretty cool app, and it looks terrible in the video because you are looking at a screen filming a a screen filming a piece of paper

TI-Nspire / Random Lua games I have
« on: December 06, 2012, 05:18:07 pm »
Hi
So I was looking through my calc files for something, and I came across all these Nspire Lua games I made several months ago.
They are not really great, and don’t have that much complex code to it, but I thought some of you might like to spend a minute and play it, so here you go.

Dodger
Dodge asteroids as you also try to not go too high and not too hit the ground. When you reach 1000 points you lose your stage 1 rockets and the gravity increases. When you reach 2000 you lose your stage 2 rockets and the gravity increases.

Paint
Paint in any color in three sizes. Of course, you can make better pictures than this.

Trondrive
Drive a tron lightbike, and try to get your light ribbon to hit the other bikes. Not really fun, but it is interesting that it was designed to that you hold the calc like a psp and use the 5 and 2 keys to play.

These were the only ones that I thought were notable, so here you go.

Miscellaneous / How the heck did spam get in my school email?
« on: December 04, 2012, 10:30:07 pm »
This is my school email, given to me by the school a few years ago. I have given it to sites I need for school, as well as a few trustworthy sites (like apple and adobe)
Then today I found a reciept for a gift card, bought by someone else, for $500, along with some links and such
I Googled, and found that others got it too, so, of course, fake
Again, I don’t know very much about email, but I thought if you never give it away, you can’t get spam

Site Feedback and Questions / A possible solution/fix for Omnimaga TV
« on: November 21, 2012, 08:43:16 pm »
Recently, a YouTube channel for omnimaga was made so that all the calculator videos could be uploaded onto one channel, so that we could get more people on our sight and allow people to see all the videos without having to search around YouTube too much.
However, there are a few problems to having a YouTube account for a group.
How are we going to get videos onto it? We can give the password away, but it only takes one member to destroy it all. I have more posts than tangrs, but I would trust tangrs with the password long before I gave it to myself. We could email them to the admins, but they might not want to spend an afternoon uploading a dozen videos to YouTube. Another thing is that since this isn’t posted anywhere on the sight other than in a few posts, it might die out and be forgotten, or it might not be noticed by new users.
I spent some time yesterday and today setting up some accounts on YouTube and the Google app engine, and was able to come up with a somewhat failure/good solution; It has some very good solutions, but sadly it has some very limiting flaws.
Using YouTube Direct, people can upload videos onto a Google app engine account. (The problem is, the video has to be on a YouTube page. You either submit a new video to your YouTube channel, or you submit a video that is already on you YouTube channel. However, it works very well if it is already on you YouTube channel. You can easily select however many you want to)

After you submit it, an administrator can decide to preview it, and then approve it or reject it, or even label it as spam. They can change which playlist it will be uploaded too, and leave notes. Once it is approved, it is automatically uploaded to a playlist in the channel. Administrators can leave notes, so if one doesn’t know if a video is good enough to be uploaded, then they can leave a note to discuss it. Administrators can create new playlists, such showcases, tutorials, lets play’s, ect.

So in the end:
Advantages:
It allows for administrators
Anyone with as YouTube account can upload
It allows for easy approval of videos
It is easy to allow for more moderators or to delete other moderators
Nobody actually needs to know the YouTube login or password
The post or link can be embedded on an omnimaga page
If the video is already on YouTube, it is incredibly easy to submit.

Disadvantages:
The videos are not uploaded: instead they are merely in a playlist.
The videos must remain uploaded on the account that created them, so no deleting accounts or videos

There are only two disadvantages, but they are pretty big ones.
I didn’t know that they wouldn’t be uploaded until I got towards the end of setting it up.
It would probably be better to just have a group of dedicated users and admins with the password who upload them, but all the advantages are solutions to every problem discussed in the posts.
There is another thing called YouTube Direct Lite, which is supposed t be easier to embed, but I couldn’t get it to work, and there is very little documentation.
I spent a day and a half doing this, because all the solutions were being fixed, until at the end I found out that it only sends it to a playlist.
Although it would be nice if one of you knew something I didn’t know that would let this work, because this could solve all the problems with the YouTube account.
While this is mostly a failure, I’d like to show you guys it.

Web Programming and Design / how much is 5M
« on: November 21, 2012, 12:07:17 pm »
Hi
So I’m trying to set up something, and a Google page says I will get 5M page view per month
Quote
App Engine comes with a set of free resource quotas that will allow your application to serve ~ 5M pageviews per month
I don’t know very much about web programming or the internet, but how much is that? And how many videos would that allow?
I googled and it said something like 5 million page view, and something said that is about 234 minutes of video.

Site Feedback and Questions / Omnimaga YouTube name "tiebreaker"
« on: November 18, 2012, 01:49:42 pm »
In the previous poll Omnimaga was the clear winner, but we’ll pull an Al Gore here and demand a recount between the two last candidates

TI-Nspire / Did any of you know that you can do this?
« on: November 10, 2012, 09:44:42 am »
Did you know that you can grab and move the dialog boxes on the nspire?
I was randomly found this out today, and it just blew my mind.
Also, are there any other mindblowing simple things i don't know about?

General Calculator Help / combo boxes on an nspire
« on: November 03, 2012, 03:49:54 pm »
Just wondering, in nspire c, can one use combo boxes?
I know you can program the message boxes with numeric inputs, but can you program ones with drop down boxes wih text choices?
Also, how can you efficiently make lists or such.
Like if i want 3 messages or 3 values there might be something like char * message[1]="string" or int value.1=number

Miscellaneous / Anyone know who this is?

Just wondering, does anybody know who Mickaël N is?
http://answers.yahoo.com/activity?show=fyFpUXpNaa
Since few omnimaga use their real name, I thought maybe he might be one of you, though he always refers to tibank in his answers

Site Feedback and Questions / Omnimaga on a mobile device
« on: October 30, 2012, 11:21:02 pm »
So why is omnimaga wierd on an iPod

I'm currently on my iPod now, instead of my laptop, though not on that app it tells me to get each time, and for some reason, the message board keeps spewing out more and more of the past and more past messages, so it slightly lags and I can barely scroll down fast enough.

General Calculator Help / semi frozem cx
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:23:25 pm »
I have an nspire cx, and it has a problem
I am trying to get it to work, to reset to a working calculator
I’ve reset, reformatted with doc, enter EE on, and deleted documents
But whenever I do this, it just goes to the screen with the bunch of lines, and instead of a having a spinning clock, the clock is still
I’ve tried to take the battery out, but it doesn’t want to come out, and I don’t want to rip it
