yes basically I made my base character template 16*16, and worked the rest from there, so weapons and movement makes them slwightly outgrow 16*16.
this game is going to need an insane amount of sprites for the movesets of each character, and right now I think I only barely have an eighth of the character sprites.

and that's not counting the map tiles, GUI, etc...
so really, if anyone is interested at all in this project, I'd happily accept some help (especially for animation because I lack any kind of animation skills or software besides gimp)

this game is right behind my minesweeper in the great big queue of projects to complete, so as soon as I'm happy with my minesweeper, on we go with this madness.

yes, currently it only works with SH3 (can't remember how to fix for SH4)

To make this clear, I owe most of this project to Eiyeron: he's the one that made the structure, I merely adapted some functions I had made in BASIC for my old minesweeper, added ergonomic keys and the saves.

I started this project a while ago with Eiyeron, and never actually got to complete it... until today that is.
here is the updated project: dropbox link (v0.9)

screenshot:

Spoiler For Full map:
video:

control explanations:

~ Arrow keys: move around
~ SHIFT: open box
~ ALPHA: toggle flag
~ MENU: exit

Right now the minesweeper has the following features:
~ scroll able grid
~ recursive opening of empty spaces
~ authomatic opening of safe zones (if you shift click on a already opened spot, and that you have placed an appropriate number of flags around that spot, the game will open the 8 adjacent non-flagged spots)
~ saving and loading gamestate from storage memory (gamestate is saved as "mines.dat")

Features to come:
~ alternative skins (already sprited)

The game isn't complete yet, but it's closer to it than when I unboxed it a few hours ago.
have fun!

(v0.5) UPDATE/HOTFIX:

~ fixed keys blocked by GetKey
~ added part of the GUI
~ game no longer loads save by default
~ F5 to save current state

(v0.6) UPDATE:

~ added timer
~ added mine count
~ added icon

(v0.9) UPDATE

~ game autoloads and autosaves on launch and exit (F5 and F6 don't do anything anymore)
~ exit keys are MENU or EXIT
~ the game now handles victory and failure
~ the game is now complete for v1.0
~ the game's code needs some cleanup
~ the game

(v0.9.1) UPDATE

~ fixed timer
~ SH4 compatibility

Thanks for the peanuts!
since I'm going to stay here for a while, I might as well give out more information about me.

I started programming 3 years ago when I discovered my Casio calculator, and immediately went mad over it.
I met Eiyeron on planete casio. Back then, I only did very basic stuff. I've got a psychological disorder that makes long projects impossible to maintain on my own, so I founded GeekBros with Eiyeron and a few other pals. We started a whole bunch of projects, only a few of them actually got completed, none of mine did.

in the past year, the group's members slowly drifted away one another, and the group finally failed.
but I'm still determined to complete these projects with my friend, one day or the other, and this time I'll make sure the day I work on these projects is today rather than tomorrow.

apart from that, I'm currently studying computer science in the equivalent of college in france.
I've purged all of my computers from microsoft's malicious OSses, and my two machines run Arch Linux.
I discovered MLP about a year ago, when people requested my help for transcribing and translating the season 3 pilot, and I've been a moderate fan of the series ever since.
Actually get rid of that 'moderate'. I don't think I can be considered a moderate anymore since I've read Fallout Equestria and FoE: Project Horizons (total wordcount 2 000k. that's two times the harry potter complete saga).
I'm pansexual, and I'm currently in a relationship with a fabulous boy I met over the internet. I spend all my holidays with him, since he lives 400km away from me.

known programming languages:
BASIC, Lua, C, Ada, 68kasm, C++ along with bash, perl, php, html/css

I guess there's no harm in showing off a bit of my stuff C:

I present you the super geek bros:

these are sprites for a fighting game I've been trying to work on during my highschool years.
now that I'm in college, I have some actual time to work on it, so expect to see more of these.

making mockup animations is a pain, and I've got a whole bunch of sprites that still need to be animated.

Introduce Yourself! / Siapran's presentation

I have to admit I haven't been creative with the tittle.

Hi there, I'm Siapran, a long time friend from Eiyeron.
I've been programming on casio calculators for a while now, havent done anything outright extraordinary, but I've got a few achievements of my own.
I'm apparently capable with pixel art, so if anyone needs my help, I'll be happy to give it.

So there, after a few months of stall, I've decided to get back to programming with a few unfinished projects to complete (minesweeper, a fighting game, a 3D flight simulator in space and a RPG project, most of which are made in collaboration with Eiyeron and a few friends). Who knows, I might even grab myself a TI84 or such and try out some Z80 assembly.
In any case, I'm happy to join in the community, and I hope I can bring in interesting stuff for you guys.

cheers!
