Game Maker, RPG Maker, Toolkit, etc. / Can I make a game on this?
« on: November 01, 2012, 07:50:04 pm »
Hi there,

Long time no show on this site for me, ahhh the college life is so busy >.< I recently went into a store that sells used stuff and picked up an Earthlink Mailstation 150, for about $9. If you've never seen the device, it looks kind of like a laptop, but with a monochrome screen (picture included). I bought it mainly just for amusement, but I'm curious if I could potentially make games on the device considering it has a full keyboard and some internal memory. I can't imagine it would be very powerful, but it would give me something to do on the device rather then just have it collect dust and read the emails left on it from the previous buyer.
*Please note: I am not technologically literate in the slightest. Hopefully when I take my video game design classes during my Bachelor's level schooling will I learn a thing or two.

Miscellaneous / Man I haven't been on here in forever...
« on: November 30, 2011, 05:19:09 am »
Well it's been forever since I've been on this site, and I'm assuming a lot has happened since then. I was talking with a friend today and brought up this site in conversation, which reminded to log on. Made a small donation, and now I feel totally lost lol. Anyways, I didn't want anyone to think I totally abandoned this site, but I still know nothing of programming unfortunately. I am however, heading off to college next year to major in programming. As I want to start a career in making new games for older game consoles. I figured that with the knowledge I gain there, I will make some of my first games on the calculator, and try to build upon that. So hopefully in a few years I can show off those games lol...
Well I really don't know what else to say, and it is very late, so..how is everyone? lol

I was trying to find a section or some tutorial to programming, as I don't even know the smallest amount of programming. I was thinking that if there isn't one, it'd be a good idea to make one, so that new comers can start learning right away and don't feel out of place..like myself. Any help would be be appreciated. Also on that note, would there be any good books to look into to learn programming, that fairly easy? Thanks for all of your support

Gaming Discussion / Anyone still have a Dreamcast?
« on: July 25, 2011, 06:25:07 am »
If so, then I have some good news for you :D
Something I've just found out but am happy to announce is that the  Dreamcast is not a dead system. Every year since the supposed demise of the system has seen a new game release by either Sega themselves (only up until 2007) or an independent company. Let me start by saying that some of these newer games coming out are top notch and fun as hell. As you can see in this article: http://www.segabits.com/?p=7380
2011 marks the release of two (not yet released titles) Sturmwind (
) and Gunlord (http://www.gun-lord.com)
Definitely looking forward to getting both :) So yeah, does anyone still own or play a Dreamcast?

The Neo Geo Pocket Color is a 16 bit handheld that came out during the time of the gameboy to compete with it in the hand held market. I figure the NGPC is a bit more powerful then the Gameboy Color, so I'm sure it should be easily handled on the TI series of calculators. However, I do not know for certain or if there is even a emulator already out.
For more info on the NGPC: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo_Pocket_Color

Well I used to be the lead singer of a band a long time ago, and well I wasn't the best, but it worked, you can find said music at www.myspace.com/thebraillesystem
On the songs, I'll let you know what I was doing
1. Fly Me to Paradise (singing and ocarina solo)
2. Something to Dance Too (I created it using different tracks from MixCraft)
3. It's Love (singing)
4. Miracles (singing)
5. The Most Beautiful Song (singing and guitar)
6. I Feel Good Demo (guitar)

Here is a video of me playing piano at my high school talent show (you can't really see me)

Any comments and opinions are welcome.

Introduce Yourself! / Hi everyone, I'm new and way lost lol
« on: July 15, 2011, 06:07:37 am »
Hello everyone, I'm SitarKnight, I joined this community after seeing some videos of the TI-Nspire and TI-84 Plus playing games. One of the things that really got my attention was the video of the gameplay for Desolate. It totally inspired me to wanna go out and buy a calculator (which I don't yet have) and learn how to make my own games. (which I know nothing about and would appreciate some help on the matter)
I don't really have any background with programming, but I'm willing to learn. Any advice would be highly appreciated:) Thank you for reading.
