News / Downtime

We got some quite unfortunate news concerning the downtime we experienced today - we got hacked!

We currently don't have any information yet as to whom is behind the attacks, we are still in the process of investigation.

As per things lost - we have 0% data loss! Still restoring the attachments and downloads, but the website is back up already.

Password hashes were stolen so we recommend you to change your password on other websites ADMINs accounts HAVE been accessed by the hackers

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope things will be going smoothly from now on.

TI Z80 / Output in exact format

Is there any program for the 83+/84+/SE calcs out there to allow you to display the result in exact format for irrational numbers, such as sqrt(2) / 2 or pi / 2? (Like the TI-36X does it)

If not, is there some algorithm which allows such conversion? (might implement it then :3 )

So, in uni with a few other students we had a seemingly paradox with complex numbers, but I think we solved it, wanted to share it with you guys anyways:
##i = e^{i\frac{\pi}{2}} = e^{\frac{1}{4}(2\pi i)} = (e^{2\pi i})^{\frac{1}{4}} = 1^{\frac{1}{4}} = 1##
On first and second glance this seems to be math-defying as ##i## is clearly not equal to ##1##. Below is the solution to this paradox we came up with.
Spoiler For Solution we came up with:
As ##i## clearly does not equal to ##1## there must be an issue here. We believe the issue to lie within the ##1^{\frac{1}{4}}##. As this is taking a root the answer is not unique, but there are actually multiple answers to ##1^{\frac{1}{4}}##.
Let me re-format that a bit to make it clear:
##
1^{\frac{1}{4}} = x \\
\sqrt[4]{1} = x \\
1 = x^{4}
##


From this point on it is quite obvious, there are multiple solutions to ##x##, that is ##1##, ##-1## and also ##i## and ##-i##.
So we have to say:
##
1^{\frac{1}{4}} = \{-1, 1, -i, i\}
##

So now clearly our real solution, ##i##, is present!
So yeah, just thought it would be fun to share :P

Yes, it's time for a demo of reuben 3!

So, attached you can find the program! Just run it and everything should be working if you have at least 52 bytes of free RAM! (To be honest, who doesn't?)

To change the grayscale settings you will need to change them in any graylib program, haven't programmed a GUI for that yet, Reuben1 for example would do for changing the grayscale settings :P

Use your arrow keys to move around and the 2ND key to interact with things!
You won't get this "auto-aligning" if you hold down 2nd while walking.

Use the DEL key to exit the game. I know, this currently also works in the battle engine but it will be removed as that allows you to skip battles :P

Please comment on how you like it / feature suggestions / bug reports!

Known issues
  • Battles have no intro/outro animation
  • Level up text is overlayed with progress bar
  • Battles don't have a background

Anyhow, Icarus has actually been in construction since quite some time, but now it is nearing completion!

News / Android reaches the Nspire!

For quite some time it has been possible to run Linux on the Nspire series.

A few days ago it was made possible to run Android 1.6 ("Donut") on your Nspire! You can connect things like keyboard or Wifi sticks via the USB dongle.
Developed by Joshuamax this appears to be a fork off of Kernel 4.x
Of course this project is Open-Source and anyone can feel free to contribute here!

Other / Adding a speaker to my TI-84+

So yeah, a few weeks ago I modded my TI-84+ to add a speaker to it! This thing is now super-awesome! ^.^

It is quite awesome that more than 25 years after the original game came out they finally made a sequel!

Along with Chip's Challenge 2 they also released a re-make of the first one and a level editor!

So yeah, after looking up how to do AVR inline assembly in arduino c++, looking at instruction sets, reverse-engineering existing programs to know how to communicate with the screen and porting axe's 4lvl grayscale routine i managed to port it to Gamebuino!

I'll release source once I'll get some things cleaned up.


For those who don't know what this is: This is basically an arduino with one of those nokia 84*48px monochrome screens
