Other Calculators / Clarification about the CodeWalrus thing
« on: December 10, 2014, 03:44:17 pm »
So you guys may have noticed that a few members (including myself) have changed their avatars and signature to a pixel art walrus and the word CodeWalrus. As some have already figured out, these were hints at a new programming group started by Juju, aeTIos, DJ Omnimaga, me and pimath (although he withdrew temporarily and is currently not part of our staff).

I would like to clear things up regarding what CodeWalrus is and what it's not. We are a programming group, that is, a hangout for friends to drive projects together, a label to release our stuff under and a home for said projects to live once they are completed. We do not intend to start a community nor replace Omnimaga or Cemetech as some would fear. A schism in the community is the last thing we want, as we all love the calc programming community as it is currently, and it would make us sad if it was somehow destroyed. The members that were recruited during beta aren't drawn away as they are still as active on Omnimaga and Cemetech.

I also want to clear accusations of stealing code/software to build the site. While it's true that we use a similar forum setup to Omnimaga, all the software we use was not made by the Omnimaga team, except for OmnomIRC whose license allow us to use it freely (besides, Sorunome explicitely allowed us to use it) and the recent posts SMF mod for which we got explicit permission from cooliojazz. Our theme looks similar in layout because it's based on the same default SMF theme as Eeems used for Omni. The smileys are from DJ's backups from when he owned the site, so I don't think there should be a problem with that. If I forgot something here feel free to mention it and I'll give an explanation.

Lastly, we have nothing to do with the Dear Omnimaga petition from a few weeks ago. While we did sign it, the idea to start CodeWalrus dates all the way back from June and we bought the domain in late October.

An effort is undergoing to keep things friendly with the Omnimaga staff, even though it's kind of stalled for now.

Now that the drama material is taken care of, I'm pleased to announce that our group is opening for the public to see on new year, with a few secret projects to discover. These will be cross posted to other sites at the authors' discretion. We already recruited a few members who contributed their creations to the group.

I hope you guys understand that we are not attacking anyone.

Looking forward to January 1st, 2015, and remember the day the walrus started to fly ! ;)

Site Feedback and Questions / Tapatalk nag
« on: November 06, 2014, 03:54:36 pm »
Is it possible to disable the tapatalk nag ? It annoys the hell out of me. Imo there should just be a link in the sidebar or something.
(I mean the "get tapatalk" message you get when browsing on mobile).

Introduce Yourself! / Tadaima

So yeah, it's been a while guys. Hopefully I'm back for real now (I finally have 24/7 access to a computer with unlimited internet so I'm happy now :D ).

I probably missed a lot of stuff so if someone could least at least the major things for me it would be pretty cool.

Computer Projects and Ideas / FlutterBot
« on: July 14, 2014, 09:38:19 am »
So Sorunome keeps complaining about DerpyBot so I set out to write an implementation of it from scratch in Python 3. After a day and a half of work I already have an almost fully featured core which is made up of a plugin manager with multi channel support, admin commands and OmnomIRC parsing. I already made a couple plugins :
-game.py : loses the game :P
-test.py : replies "Test failed" when you say "test"
-google.py : the most advanced plugin as of now, contains the same commands as DerpyBot's google.lua (@google, @youtube, @omnimaga, @xkcd and I added @tiplanet to the list)

I also have it load/store channels and plugins in a json file so that it rejoins and reloads upon startup. I need to add a config file for some stuff but other than that it works pretty well already. You can currently find it in the spam channel and mess around with it. If it shows any weird error message, please report it.
Once the code is clean I'll put it on GitHub.

Calculator C / [Solved][Ndless] Hardware timers on the CX
« on: July 05, 2014, 05:37:20 am »
Hmmm. I've been struggling with these all day long yesterday. I got them to work eventually but now I'm facing a problem now. Thing is, it seems to be zero and non zero at the same time. O.O

Code : https://github.com/Streetwalrus/tetris
n2DLib required to compile : https://github.com/n2DLib/n2DLib

I looked at the sleep() code and I'm doing exactly the same thing (that's what I did by reading only the datasheet too :/).
So if you guys have an idea I'd be grateful.

Site Feedback and Questions / Suggestion : HTML5 video support
« on: June 04, 2014, 03:55:19 pm »
It would be awesome if we could insert HTML 5 videos in posts. It'll be easier to upload Nspire screenies, and also to make screenies more compressed in general because a video is much better than a gif. Mediacru.sh supports videos and automagically converts gifs so we already have an upload service usable. ;)

Also, flash is crap.

KnightOS / Official KnightOS nightlies
« on: May 20, 2014, 02:00:40 pm »
I recently started to contribute to Knight OS, and we need more non dev contributiors to do testing. So I set up a nice buildbot which will make new builds every time changes are uploaded to Github.
It is hosted on Sorunome's server (this thing is starting to get really cranked with all Juju's stuff :P).

There is a misconception that we nerds don't have any form of relationship with girls. So let's make fun of it. Rules are the same as the 9001 signs you're addicted to calcs and Omni. ;)
No idea right now so I'll let someone else start the party up.

Edit : well, actually...
1 : You prefer to spend an afternoon playing Minecraft than going to the cinema w/ your gf (true story).
2 : If you had to choose between saving your gf and your calc, the choice would be pretty quick : the calc.

Site Feedback and Questions / Error 403 when posting.
« on: April 22, 2014, 04:21:58 am »
OK this is really starting to annoy the hell out of me. I'm often getting a 403 error when I try to post. It is apparently related to Bad Behavior. Each time I get this it asks me to delete my cookies because they are outdated but trying to post again without doing so works just fine. It's maybe a cooldown time issue. I only got this on my PC but again I post slower from my phone or tablet so if it is cooldown then there's no problem there.

I'll post a screenie next time I get it.

Does anyone else get this error ?

Also if it's cooldown is it possible to make it shorter for veteran members please ? Not claiming to be a looooong time user but I've been around for almost two years and I'm closing up on 2500 posts so I guess I'm in the trusted category. :P

Gaming Discussion / Virtuix Omni
« on: April 21, 2014, 02:49:59 pm »
With all the VR stuff it's getting pretty awesome to play games. I just stumbled upon this : http://www.virtuix.com/
It's basically a VR controller that allows you to walk in your games. :D Combined with an Occulus Rift and a Wiimote, games should be epic. O.O

ASM / [SOLVED] SPASM picky with BMP formats
« on: April 21, 2014, 02:40:09 pm »
OK this problem is solved. SPASM wants BMP3 images (maybe older will work but I didn't try) and has trouble with BMP4. In ImageMagick you can force the format like so : convert input.foo BMP3:output.bmp

Spoiler For Original post:
So I'm trying to use SPASM to convert my bitmaps for Illusiat (with #include).
Problem is it's being picky with the format.

I have attached title.bmp which is accepted no problem. I converted it with a drawing program from KDE but it's a PITA to deal with.
The other file, title1.bmp is refused for some reason. As you may notice, it's bigger despite being 1bpp B/W like the other one. :/ I converted it with convert -colors 2 -depth 1 title.bmp title1.bmp (ImageMagick). I'd rather use that kind of tool because it's scriptable. But I have no idea how it may be different.

Any ideas ?

Also, once again I don't know if it belongs in the calculator ASM section since it's a PC thing but it's related.

Edit : Weird. Seems like the forum doesn't like title1 either, it is a proper image file that opens correctly in Eye of MATE. ???

ASM / [SOLVED] SPASM not building on Linux x64
« on: April 16, 2014, 01:01:29 pm »
This problem is now solved. If you want SPASM, just use the 7zip archive provided by Chickendude.
Just run make clean then make.

Spoiler For Original post:
Not really sure it actually belongs in here, but I rarely post in the support forum.

I'm trying to compile the latest SPASM revision on ArchLinux (64bit) but I get some error when running make :
Code: [Select]
g++ -I.  -DUSE_REUSABLES -DUSE_GMP -DUNIXVER -DUSE_BUILTIN_FCREATE -c main.cpp
In file included from storage.h:5:0,
                 from main.cpp:7:
hash.h:29:31: erreur: expected template-name before ‘<’ token
   : public std::unary_function<const char *, size_t>
                               ^
hash.h:29:31: erreur: expected ‘{’ before ‘<’ token
hash.h:29:31: erreur: expected unqualified-id before ‘<’ token
Makefile:10: recipe for target 'main.o' failed
make: *** [main.o] Error 1

I'm an 31337 C++ n00b so I don't know what to do about that at all. The PKGBUILD available in the AUR compiles fine but it is an old revision which segfaults when I include bitmaps, which is what I absolutely need right now. After some quick googling I know that it's been fixed ages ago but  I can't use it. :/

Here's the SVN link : https://wabbit.svn.codeplex.com/svn/Wabbitstudio/Source/SPASM

It's incomplete for now but hopefully some find it useful. It took me about 4 hours to make (not in one go, but 4x 1h in class).

Edit : LOL, just noticed that the name resembles Pimath. :P
