TI-Nspire / Re: nspire Linux Questions
« on: February 22, 2015, 01:35:33 pm »
Hey all, can someone tell me if there are certain usb hub chips that work really good with nspire linux?
my CX has been revived :) and while i have virtually no time next to school i wanted to make a little top mounted module,
witch includes 1 micro-SD card slot and 3 usb ports, and a power inlet, for the hub and if possible to charge the calc.

Is it possible to get the power form the second port on top of the calc?

This thing will probably never exist but i might..
I have to design a pcb for school so i might just trow this in as a learning project.

edit2:
got python and clang working, takes around 12sec to compile hello world with clang :)

As for 4K res screens I doubt my graphic card and computer would even handle them because the graphic cars is from early 2012 and the computer, although an higher end work machine, early 2010.

However, isn't it possible in some OSes to resize the theme fonts and icons on large resolutions to make them easier to read? I remembieber it was possible under Windows 2000 and XP.

Yes there is, but not so much becoase the resolution is nog realy supported by the hardware.

Nope sorry I don't have the money. :P
Keep in mind I'm not trying to force you, just proving your arguments to be of low value. You do what you want after all. <_<
But anyway back on topic. My dad is interested in this, but I can't tell him about it before 10am and I don't think he's got the money for it just yet. :/

well i give you til 16:00 to ask him, the invite can be claimed til 18:00 then you have 24h time to buy it.

hey guys,

As you may know OnePlus One (high end phone low price snapdragon 801 64GB storage 3GB RAM $350 full specs), it is a cool phone. if you are interested google it (i don't want to make a to big ad of this)
The phone can (for now) only be bought with an invite.

I am going to share one invite to one of you via a random picker on the internet.

you can join by posting why you want/need to buy this phone.

if there is no interest in it i will give it to someone on the OnePlus forum tomorrow.

rules:

1. post why you want/need this phone
2. be able to pay the phone within 24 hours after you claimed it on oneplus.net (because it is only valid for 24h)
3. you must be member for more than 4months and have more than 40 posts
4. post before 4PM Amsterdam time 25 JUL, then i am announcing who will get it.
5. if you get it you get it if you don't you don't.

if it is not clear ask for it

hope you guys like it i give one away, if there are more interested people, it would be nice that if the person who gets the invite, shares the two invites he/she gets with the phone on this forum.

happy posting!

EDIT: the ending will be 4PM now.

The native resolution is a little small, but if i put it in 1080p HiDPi it is just to big (but really sharp).
I was trying to set it in 1440p HiDPi (because that is a nice resolution) and then scale it down to UHD, but my Graphics card is not willing to give me 5120x2880, but it would probably look really good.
You can probably use xrandr to force your display to a certain resolution. I used newrez (which is using xrandr) to set my netbook's resolution to 1344x752, which is not really standard.
I use switchresx (and script to unlock the IOKit driver)

For now i see it as a good investment, do you guys think about getting a 4k monitor?
As you said, everything is too small so I don't really see the point of buying a 4K monitor to set its resolution to 1080p, which is what I would do if I got one :P

It is small but i need to get used to it, it is really handy for programming with sources left and right and code somewhere in the middle,
the 1080p HiDPi mode means GUI scaling 1080p retina like, i switch between these resolutions:

Welp, an IntelHD3000 doesn't quite match the specs for your screen. Good luck gaming on that :x

I don't really game, or i set a really small resolution, HD3000 is no gaming card no matter resolution (i can always steal my dad's work computer).

Anyways: 4k screen?

It sure is, the most cheap AOC display there was :) €499. i'm really happy with it, but everything is kind of small..
First i had it running at max 30Hz witch is really bad. now i got it at 40Hz which is nice.

not sure if my GPU can handle it that good, i have integrated graphics "Intel HD 3000",
on my newer laptop i can't get the 165Mhz pixel clock cap off.. so it does not support this resolution :(

I tested it with Half Life 2: Lost Coast, on 4k with all setting on low (V-Sync off) and my HD3000 got about 12FPS on the stress test.

Spoiler For Spoiler:

funny is i waited 30days for this monitor, and when i didn't get it then i bought it somewhere else and got it in 22h shiped to the door :) (DON'T BUY AT ALTERNATE) <--- Bad Store!

Miscellaneous / Re: Nuclear power poll
« on: March 03, 2014, 09:01:38 am »
water power can be really bad for the environment..

there is great progress in nuclear fusion power, like 1 or 2 weeks ago they final got a little more energy out of a fusion system then they putted in.
this source is 99.99999% safe, and if it goes wrong there might be an explosion, but no radioactive substance melting down the earth and al the other stuff..
and it is 100% clean

and while the full is H2 it is easy to get that from water, so we have almost endless fuel.

actually changing the atoms.. which changes the atom balance of the world.. it might be a problem in a few billion years.
when we can actually run out of water.. strange idea.

so i think when technology is ready we should only use fusion power
