Other Calculators / Re: TI CAS question: System of linear ODE solving?

I think you can by combining equations using the 'and' keyword to form a system.

Can someone (like critor) answer my question please?

It should work.

Yes, it can, over USB. But it can not do so in a navigator network (wireless).

EDIT : no sarcasm intended =(

It seems like I downrated you by mistake, sorry for that. Probably happened on my mobile phone (I have the same problem with for example like buttons, pressing them unknowingly).

It's nice to see that the Prime is getting some good upgrades :)

HP Calculators / Re: Let's hack the HP Prime!
« on: December 02, 2013, 03:36:22 pm »
Heya and welcome to the forums! :)

Unfortunately, as far as HP Prime hacking goes, it's pretty much dead. Nobody will ever hack the HP Prime because nobody seems interested in doing it for a platform that has less than a million users in the world :(

The device is just out and the hacking scene has already been declared dead. Maybe the fact that not many developers in the community have one helps that there is low activity _at the moment_?

Quote
Even TI-Nspire hacking is dead, although there are a few games still coming out every now and then. No more Ndless development nor anything else, and that's with a much more popular (although more closed) platform. It took three years until ASM arrives on the Nspire too. Same for the Casio PRIZM, but again, hacking it is no longer as needed, since Casio has done nothing to block third-party ASM/C code.

Wrong. It's not dead. You just think it's dead. How do you know that there is no Ndless development anymore? As far as I know you aren't in the Nspire dev team. At the moment there may be little development but when I look here and there I still see development and updates being done. I personally (and I know of others) continue to hack the platform. We just only decide to release certain things when the time is right.

Please DJ_O, stop saying these kind of stuff because the only thing you do with that is harm the community.

This is still cooler

If you want to add a method to export save games or something, you could use the clipboard. Basically, when you want to export, serialize the data in a format that you can put into a string. Copy it to the clipboard and display a message to the user that he needs to open a 'save game' document in order to save. The 'save game' document is something that fetches the data out of the clipboard (and checks if it's valid of course) and stores it to a local variable.

If im not mistaken, its what he did in the first place, look at the previous page.

Oh, indeed. I seem to have missed that part.

News / Community based HP Prime connectivity toolkit under development
« on: November 10, 2013, 05:47:25 am »
Although the HP Prime is a newcomer to the calculator scene, it has already drawn quite some attention. This probably due to the fact that it's the most powerful handheld calculator to date and that it comes with a touchscreen interface.

Last week critor announced that he and Lionel Debroux succesfully managed to patch the HP Prime firmware. This demonstrated that native code execution might not be far away if the needed time is spend on it :D

Yesterday Lionel announced yet again some great news, he has been building an open source toolkit for communicating with the HP Prime! Libhpcalcs is built with the same design principles as the libticalcs toolkit that he has been maintaining and improving over the last years. While he has only been developing for three weeks, it should already be stable enough to be beta-tested on both Linux and Windows.

So if you have an HP Prime and are willing to help its development community grow, you should go help beta test this software now!

I want to personally thank Lionel and Critor for their dedication to the HP-Prime platform and their work to open it up ;D

Miscellaneous / Re: Quick Survey About You and Omnimaga.
« on: November 09, 2013, 06:54:16 pm »
1) How did you first learn about Omnimaga and what aspect influenced you to stay?
I've spotted Omnimaga around 2006, but only signed up in 2011 after my brother Stefan showed me that the calculator community was still alive.

2) Do you feel as if we have similarities outside of programming naturally. If so, what are they? (i.e. MLP fans)
The drive to make devices to what they are not supposed to do.

3) For what reason(s) do you frequent Omnimaga over other sites like Cemetech or TIPlanet? (Or vise-versa)
Because I'm interested in all the projects that are going on. Mainly the TI-Nspire projects, but I'm always interested in reading threads regarding tweaks/hacks to the z80 devices.

4) Do you consider the community of Omnimaga to have a main goal(s)? (if so, what are they?)
The goal of the website on its own is to group calculator programmers and unite them. I suppose that has worked out pretty well.

5) How do you feel your relationship is with other members?
Yes, especially with some of the TI-Nspire members. (Although most of them are TI-Planet admins)

6) Do you find that Omnimaga (and calc programming) has helped you in the outside world?
Omnimaga and calculator programming in general has helped me learn very interesting things. It has been a very useful resource of information to me.

7) What is your favorite inside joke/lingo?  (i.e. Holy Necropost Batman!  or Welcome peanuts etc.)
No favorite one for me

8 ) What country are you from?
Belgium

@Kerm: Actually TI-Nspire nearly died entirely over here until a few days ago. There are news about bad OS updates and hardware changes, but Texas Instruments almost completely destroyed our TI-Nspire programming userbase. :(

It doesn't mean that when some people don't post regarding projects that it's dead.

Ow does that mean Sorunome can ban me now officially?

Anyway, congratulations ;)

News / Re: First patch of the HP-Prime firmware
« on: November 06, 2013, 02:31:21 pm »
Well, the Prime has no hardware protection against arbitrary flashes even to the boot code so they couldn't lock it down so easily without rolling out a new revision and stuff. Like TI did with the 84+ boot code and the Nspire J+ and also Apple with the iPhone 3GS which has been locked down more with a new HW revision.

Where do you get this information from? There is still code from HP handling the flashing AFAIK and they are probably able to update this using software updates to add additional protection (I'm not saying that they will though).
