Well, it seems it's the latest fashion to take a pony nick on IRC... If you don't know yet we have #ponies on Omninet for pony talk, so please join it! I laid out some rules for the channel (especially for pony nicks) here, along with a list of #ponies so you won't get confused about who's who on #omnimaga:

Quote #ponies about page

Network: irc://
Ponies/out-of-character channel: #ponies
Roleplay channel: #rp

If you want a pony nick on Omninet, pick a pony not on the list and contact Juju to register it on the list.

Don't forget to /ns register under your main nick, /ns group your pony nick and /groupserv join !ponies

For better identification please take an appropriate host to your Omnimaga rank with /hs offerlist (or /hs request) and /hs take <vhost> (preferably one of those containing $account). For questions ask on #omnimaga.

Actually, pony or not, I encourage everyone to register with NickServ and take a vhost on HostServ.

It's not back. Actually, it is back. Under a new concept. Some sort of art installation, I'd say.

It is simple. You suggest one change and I implement it on the site. Can be pretty much anything.

Yeah, I was bored. Just click on those links and see for yourself.

Other / The Omnimaga BBS Project
« on: May 26, 2014, 02:00:07 am »
Yet another side project I started, partly inspired by Hackaday's Retro edition (so users can submit pictures of their old hardware that wasn't even supposed to go on Internet browsing Hackaday) and a video of Keoni29 accessing a BBS with his eZ8. The goal here, like Hackaday, is to access the Omnimaga forums on old hardware, such a Commodore 64 or a TI-82 calculator. Wouldn't it be fun to post from those devices? All you need is a serial port connection!

You can access the interface via telnet (just like an old-school BBS) which is currently at, the rest of the steps is left as an exercice to the reader.

Right now, only the login is implemented (you can login with your Omnimaga account!), it will give you a few info about your account and a basic command prompt, I'll gradually add more and more features (which you can see by typing 'help').

CVSoft already been able to login to Omnimaga using his TI-82 (which is a first!), you can post here your own hardware accessing it. Have fun!

News / Reuben Wiki opens its doors
« on: May 20, 2014, 02:29:40 pm »
The website, hosting all the infos about Reuben Quest and hosted by Sorunome, has been remade into a collaborative wiki everyone can edit. This is the perfect place to add DJ Omnimaga's various RPGs' bestiaries and histories, even creating a page on every monster and every area of each game with their stats. In short, it's like your average game wiki you can find everywhere.

The admins are Juju and Sorunome, they can help you with the site. Due to previous experiences with massive spam, signing up has been disabled, you'll have to send your email to an admin and an account will be created for you with a randomly generated password sent by email. If you have any problems, we can help you here on this thread.

Have fun!

Miscellaneous / What is your Bacon number?
« on: May 09, 2014, 11:24:40 pm »
As we were saying on IRC, they say there is at most 6 links between everyone and Kevin Bacon. The Bacon number therefore counts the number of such links between such a person and Kevin Bacon. Well, check it out on Wikipedia for a better explanation.

If you ever appeared on a TV show or you've been an extra in a movie, you must have a Bacon number. If so, post it here! If you don't know it, post the celeb you were with or the movie you were in and we'll attempt to calculate it. Or you can also calculate it here by typing the name of the celeb and adding one to his/her Bacon number. Otherwise, your bacon number is undefined. Sad for you, I guess...

There's also an extension for research papers co-authors called the Erdős number, so if you ever co-written a paper, you can post it here too. And if you have both numbers defined, you can even add them! Very few people have both numbers.

So what's your Bacon number? Mine is 4 as I appeared in the crowd in a TV quiz with Patrice L'Écuyer who have appeared in L'héritage (1987) with Yves Desgagnés who was in Louis 19, le roi des ondes (1994) with James Rae who's been in Criminal Law (1988) with Kevin Bacon who have by definition a Bacon number of 0.

And DJ Omnimaga possibly have a Bacon number of at most 5 as he participated in a crowd in a few videoclips of Dance Laury Dance with me.

So here's a list I guess:
FinaleTI: 2 (with Casey Affleck)
JWinslow23: 2 (with Corbin Bleu)
willrandship: 2 (with Bill Nye)
Hayleia: 3 (with Romain Duris)
Juju: 4 (with Patrice L'Écuyer)
DJ Omnimaga: 5 (with Juju)
Streetwalrus: undefined

Other Programming Languages / Nightly builds
« on: May 07, 2014, 07:38:51 pm »
Anyone knows of a good software/service to do nightly builds, preferably one that works with GitHub webhooks? Or I have to write one such script myself?

By the way, I generate (manually for now) nightly builds here if you see a commit of mine on IRC and you wanna try.

News / TI really buys Omnimaga: more details
« on: April 01, 2014, 11:21:48 pm »
Ticalc, Cemetech, TI-Planet and Omnimaga have all been bought by TI, merged them together with TI-Cares and put Nikky at the head of the newly formed department of Communities as vice-president.

But, alas, it was only a rather convincing April's Fools joke. Many of you fell for it, others remained dubious.

I want to thank Eeems for the idea and for being very convincing and everyone for helping us having a great April's Fools day.

Among the other fake projects we announced are DJ Omnimaga's Custer's Revenge 84C and Juju's Project Thundercloud, although for the latter this project is very real but will not come out on NES cartridges but rather as a PC game with 3D graphics. Your account on alberthrocks' is also safe and sound as it won't close anytime soon.

On a end note, Omnimaga will rename to Omnidoge: here's the new banner.

Computer Projects and Ideas / Project Thundercloud: The Video Game
« on: April 01, 2014, 10:23:26 pm »
A Final Fantasy-like RPG based on Project Thundercloud, an animation on the story of Derpy Hooves, a pony with severe strabism is in the work in collaboration with its author, Player.exe, who does the story and the graphics while I do the programming.

Coming soon!

News / TI buys Omnimaga
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:10:08 pm »
At T^3 2014, we had a lot of opportunities to talk with Peter Balyta, new president of TI Education. As we reported to our last news, Balyta was very interested working with the community. Therefore, we are announcing today Texas Instruments will be buying Omnimaga.

We at Omnimaga have the community at heart and it will be a pleasure collaborating with TI to bring you the best programs for TI calculators.

More details later, but rest assured it's for the good of the community!
